    Morning all:

 Sue! Strange, I was just thinking about you this morning and why you went AWOL, glad to hear all is well.

It's 5 deg.here now, it looks like they are predicting the same here Mark, snow changing to sleet and rain, will see! :(

A little something every chance we get.
:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals and Gals! (Susan!) 35* here, up from 29*, but the wind is only 11 mph! Supposed to be a nice sunny warm up to 50* or so, but I think I'm gonna putz and watch football. Don't feel like taking on cleaning up the sons room yet - heck, there is still a drum set stacked up!

BUT, you have some of the FINEST Interstate Rest Areas!

    Feet? haha hopefully inches :D
Woke up to this, couple inches of snow but now turned to sleet and a mix forecast for the rest of the day. Makes for treacherous roads so I just avoid driving on icy roads. Typical for winter storms here in NC central.

    Good morning fellow Porchatonians!!

Seems like we've had about 3" of powdery snow so far. It's 31F and slowly rising with a pretty stiff and constant wind. Hopefully, it will remain all snow and not turn to the freezing rain that was initially predicted.

    Stay safe...and warm.

26° this morning. We have 6" snow with a little ice on the bottom. Looks like the storm will still be active here for a while. We may get another 1" or so. I'll wait until ~noon to start cleanup. Looks like everything here is manageable. Didn't lose power this time around, unusual for a winter storm. We were west of storm center, and recent powerline upgrades help.

    Morning all:
Started with about 4" of snow, then turned to rain, and back to snowing right now, everything is like giant slurpee!
i need to clear this crap before it freezes and turns into solid ice, they are calling for single digit temps. on Thurs, and Fri., now I'll find out how far the snowblower will throw slush, I'm guessing not too far! :(

We actually went to a birthday party at 5pm yesterday. The roads were better when we went home at 8pm. We received about 2in of snow followed by rain. 95% of the snow sand slush is gone this morning. Current temp is 38 degrees at 10am.

I just found out that my sister's grandkids have all tested positive at some point in the past week or so. They were hyper-careful but still attending class in person. This thing is everywhere now. At least the numbers seem to be topping out.

I'm going to find that out for myself too, but waiting until the snow stops coming down. Hard to tell from the radar, could last all day.

We have a small bridge on a little two-lane road near here that they tore down almost a year ago. I assumed it was going to be another one of the 6-ish month replacement jobs we've so much of in recent years. I went down last week to check progress; the bridge is gone, the stream banks are reinforced, but there is not a single sign of a new bridge being built! Not even any heavy equipment. The folks who live on the detour thought they were safe from seeing a lot of traffic, they must be really fuming right about now.

    20220117_063403.jpg 6" of wet heavy snow...ugh!
I used the ole' snow blower instead of the quad. I was pleased with how it handled the snow.
    4 driveways and sidewalks.
I need to go for gas and another coffee :)

Whoa!! Talk about heart attack snow!! We ended up with somewhere around 5" that compressed a lot - heavy and dense. The snowblower and plow moved it but I had to go slowly with the snowblower so it didn't choke out. Summer can come any time now!

I just came back in from clearing the snow here. Snowblower moved the slushy stuff, but I could tell I was going to want to come back with the shovel and get the rest. Unfortunately it began to freeze before I got to it. What a bear. I'm plumb tuckered.

    Afternoon all:
:annoyed: Had the snowblower ready to go in front of the garage door, and couldn't get the door open to get it out, the seal was frozen to the floor.
Tried spraying windshield washer fluid along the seal, that didn't work, so went down to the house to get hot water in a bucket and as I was lifting the bucket the handle broke and made a mess! :annoyed::annoyed:! That was the first time that I couldn't open the garage door, finally got the door to open and proceeded to make a mess trying to get rid of the slop, I did get everything cleared that I wanted to but I will still have a lot of ice when it freezes, just not as thick.

I seem to recall hearing (somewhere on TW) that a thin layer of Fluid Film applied to the weather seal on the bottom of the garage door will prevent the freezing/sticking problem.

Spray it on, works wet or dry, lasts longer if you let it dry. I spray stuff down when I'm done, ready for the next rodeo.
