    Good morning fellow Porchatonians!

Didn't get much done yesterday other than managing the chemical levels in the hot tub...and getting myself thrown off a FB page for Auto Ordnance Thompson sub machine guns. I hate arrogant administrators. He may have winged me but I heard he took the hard fall in the end. On to my next windmill!

Congrats on the coming retirement, Susan!!

    Stay safe out there.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: When is a complement not a complement? LOL Good one Carl!

Congratulations Susan. I hope the family is planning some type of party for you. You will love retirement and be super busy "Doing what you want to do". I hope you will be triple dipping with retirement checks, or in today's world direct deposits.

Yesterday was too profitable. Visited the accountant and we are getting back too much money from federal and state income tax. I have to lower the withholding rates on both for Social Security and IRA withdrawals. Last year was the first year the both of us were fully retired so I was unsure.

I think we are going out to dinner tonight, son is buying, with live music.

    Morning all:

You too Tom! Not so much state but Federal, I often pay too much in and just apply it to the first quarter est. tax for the following year. If I didn't do that I would be changing the withholding every year on both my SS and pension because my income is all over the map from year to year. Wonder what would have happened last year if I would have called the pension plan and told them to withhold 100% of my pension for taxes, which still would not have covered what I owed , then called them for this year and told them to withhold nothing, SO I just leave it at what I originally set it up at, which I think is 15% withheld, and then add to it quarterly if so needed, drives me :goingcrazy:, but been playing with that scenario for years! :(

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gals! Never did get to dead yard stuff - wifey apparently forgot, and I didn't remind her. Fixed things and putzed.

Congrats Susan! Going to make the shortest month into the longest waiting for that day!

Wish we HAD an SD card in the 2020 RAV4, Tom. It's over the air download, and ONLY certain Toyota dealers can do it. Most can't even tell you how they have to do it. "Leave the car for a day for the service". I was told it would be free - it's $179. RAV now has a 6" Garmin under the mirror.

Going to be more useful today.

Love to hear those turbines and large electric motors spool up.

Finally got the ice removed from all 210' driveway. I used 80lbs. treated rock salt, gave it a day to work, used a spud bar to slide under and loosen the ice, then a scoop shovel to remove. All that took four days. Last day was warmer and windy, drying everything up. We've had ice a few times, but never this bad in 30 years. And to top it off, the afternoon wind picked up big time, and of course, now the electric is off. Utility website says expect 3-4hrs. No problemo, generator needs exercised anyway, and a real-time test for the new UPS went off without a hitch.

Last job I had among other things was responsible for 3 Rolls Royce RB 211 turbine generators producing 30 MW each on diesel fuel or natural gas. Amazingly quiet when not the 747 aircraft version with turbofans.

Purchased the card last night. Lots of decent reviews, if it does not work out it is an inexpensive lesson in life.

Driving down to pay the accountant this morning so he can file my returns. Going to finish up laundry and have a long guitar practice session today. Spatchcocked chicken for dinner tonight. Looking at upgrading my phone with the new Samsung S22 Ultra. Confusing at best. Best deal is on the Samsung website.

Good Morning Folks. Been lurking for awhile but when I heard Susan was retiring soon, I had to drop in and wish her the "Very Best" and to have a smooth transition into a life of leisure. Most importantly more Grand kid time . Congratulations Susan.
I really feel bad posting seeing all the snow and ice up home as I sit on the beach in 80° weather. The wife can't take the cold so we head out mid January to mid March. Retirement has it's perks. Have a good one and stay safe.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porchies! Wow! Susan and Ken - in the same week! :taco:

Going to a brewery this afternoon to meet a buddy, and get rid of the remaining FJ wheels. His is the only other Taco in these parts wearing them, so I am going to help him corner the market (and get them out of the garage!). Don't know what it is about Brewery meet ups, but the weather has gone BAD last three attempts. Yesterday was cloudless and 76* - today will be in the 40*'s and might sleet and snow on us (won't stick)! Tomorrow back to 66*! :notsure:
