    Afternoon all:

    X2!

We had inspectors at Bethlehem Steel to inspect the beams, lets just say some did their job and others were a little lax!
I would tend to believe that on the more critical products, those involved were more inclined to make sure that everything was up to spec.
I had once read an article about the bolts that were being used in Nuclear power plants, they met the specifications but were just barely over, then they started having to replace them with bolts that well exceeded the minimum specifications when the original bolts started failing.

Yes. I moved here in 1993 and used the "Roundrocktom" on some old off-road BBS's. Moved seven miles to the new house in 2001; but still close enough. It does get hot here!

Round Rock was the low water crossing on the Chisholm Trail when driving cattle to Kansas. Wagon wheels left ruts in the limestone, still visible today. Lonesome Dove is worth reading. Water moccasins still give me nightmares.

Glad the missus is back home. Recovery facilities are not the best place to be. Home is so much better! Your wife is still in my prayers.

My eye appointment is pushed back to next Wednesday. Think I will go get a haircut today.

Good morning fellow Porchatonians!! Big storm blowing through - periods of heavy rain, strong gusty winds. We've briefly lost power several times through the night but never long enough for the generator to kick in. Hoping we don't have a lot of tree damage.

    Be safe!!

Good morning, everyone. Son took off today to have a 4-day weekend. I am going to make chicken soup today. Took out a pack of chicken backs out of the freezer last night to make the stock with. The grocery store had chicken thighs on sale, so I picked up a large pack of them when I make the chicken soup.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porchies! I'm gonna take todays freeze and high of 58 over what you're having. 76* yesterday before the front, and 70* tomorrow. Made the little spigot gas pump disappear, and got about half the mulch down before the front. Good enough. Recycle some cardboard and do some more today. That's it!

    Morning all:
Nothing new here, had the yard pretty well cleaned up of sticks and branches, and then last night's wind made sure I had a new supply of them to clean up! :(

OK, one of my favorite dividend stocks PPL just missed earnings and dropped to a level where I like to buy it and I pulled the trigger, I did leave enough in the account though if I want to dollar average should it drop lower. :fingerscrossed:
I had mentioned it before, I don't really want to be in the market anymore, but like everyone else, I'm losing my butt getting little to nothing on the money I have in any accounts!

    Good morning fellow Porchatonians!!

Our temps dropped like a rock yesterday - 55 when I got up and 28 2 hours later. Stayed in the mid-20s all day with quite a bit of wind. We ended up with a fast freeze on the driveway and a little sleet before the sun came out and melted it.

I spent 5 hours working with Lynn to finish up the re-work she did of the dining room at her mom's house here at Mighty Mortgage Manor. Lynn never ceases to amaze me with the quality of what she does - stripped the walls down to the original plaster/lathe, re-surfaced all the walls and the painted the entire room and cleaned/oiled the floors. I helped her put together some furniture and move other furniture we had from my mom's place that was a good fit for the new color scheme in the dining room. Really turned out nice.

I think I'll get out the space heater and install the VLEDS rear footwell light add on kit today.

Mid 40's and no rain today. Going to go out to dinner tonight at a live music venue in Bowie. Laundry day today and probably do a rear marker light repair on the Avalon.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gals! Not much to do today but run a quick errand, finish throwing down the mulch out front, and cook burgers for us and a friend of Carol's coming over after they see a play. Probably involve  at some point.

Our power just came back after the second outage in the past 48 hours. Part of it was the crazy windy weather, part of it is because of that !@#^&^^&%! emerald ash borer that killed all the ash trees. They're snapping off everywhere. It looks like a disaster area around parts of here.

Here's a good one for you nerdy types: I have two internet connections, one from the cable company and a DSL line from the phone company. When the power goes out the cable dies (eventually, after the cable company's battery backup dies on their equipment) but the DSL keeps chugging along -- gotta respect Ma Bell's infrastructure. Anyway, to handle the two connections I have a router that allows for two incoming "WAN" connections. Problem is, it's old. Like, OLD old. Yesterday when I wanted to log into it to change over to DSL, none of my web browsers would connect! The thing is so old that it looks like a security risk to them. They won't even let me mark it as safe. So I had to dig out an ancient laptop (yes I am a packrat) and fire it up. Good so far, until I go to type in the address and discover that the keyboard is crapping out on the laptop! So I go back to my packrat pile, find a keyboard that I can plug into the laptop. Finally got us switched over. Immediately ordered a new router!
