A little something every chance we get.
Actually, it's quite convenient and trouble free. The one in the pic is 75', so it can get across the yard for watering. It replaced a 50" I moved elsewhere. They are small diameter garden hose, so it lacks pressure for say car washing or shooting water on the roof, but it does sprinklers and hand watering just great, and gets out of it's own way with no fuss. I think in 4 years I've had this one (other one is 5 years old), I've had to pull it all the way to improve the retraction. If you guide it back in, never a problem. I like 'em.
I don't know why they show as "unavailable" - could be supply or disappeared vendor, but I'm sure there are similar.

    Morning all:
Welcome to the porch, BTW new members need to fill up the cooler first before joining the rest of us, then post away. There are many varied interests on here, and everyone enjoys pics.

:annoyed: New project! A long time ago I used red Uncle Josh pork rinds on June Bug spinners and caught a bunch of walleyes in Canada. They are no longer available but been reading about how to make them using either salt pork or fatback, need to do a little more research and see if I can duplicate them. They do make something similar, (fat cow split tail jigging strips), but don't know if they have the same action as the pork rind, maybe should just buy a jar of them and give them a try. :notsure:

I know right? Yesterday the forecast here was for maybe an inch of "wintry mix". This morning I wake up to find out they've changed it to 2" to 4" of snow. Make up your minds, forecasters!

Gas prices, ugh. Glad I don't have my old 165 mile per day commute, that's for sure. I remember when gas went from $0.25/gallon to $1.25/gallon almost overnight, during the OPEC oil embargo in the 1970's. We had gas lines, rationing, the whole deal. At least this time there seems to be plenty of supply. Silver lining I guess.

Electric cars -- I'd buy one for scooting around on errands and making short trips, if it made economic sense to do so. Right now it doesn't. I did put charging circuits (or welder, or air compressor) in the garage during construction, just because it seemed like the right time to do it. I agree that the electric infrastructure is not up to the task of mass home charging -- just ask @cheech1 about solar in his home state. He'll tell you about the grid situation there. Where I live the wires don't stay off the ground long enough to charge a car!

Over 70 is also over 60 -- and we can always use more cooler contributions.

    The cooler was almost empty.
Some newbie forgot what was required.
Wait till we find out and he has to mow the back yard with a reel mower.

Whenever this kind of thing happens, money being manipulated to create a shortage or increased supply, I have to wonder what is really going on. We got those stimulus checks when Covid hit and I was seeing it as a way to increase the money supply so spending would keep the economy functioning. Then we see inflation hit as Covid settled down and people returned to work. Of course we are no longer supporting military actions in the ME, so inflation would help pay down the debt. But hyper inflation is a bad thing and one of the best ways to keep people from spending and to quell inflation is to create a shortage attached to a high price, and what would be better than high fuel prices to make people afraid of spending unnecessarily?

It's a wild ride, but I suspect it is all being manipulated. I see an upside for the country/world with high fuel prices although they are hard to swallow in the short term and at the level of personal pockets.

in this situation, the large spike in fuel prices will quickly translate to additional inflation for the entire marketplace. We already knew that our SS raise this year was going to be worth less than the ink to print it, but now hold your breath for the big one coming in.

I agree with you except regarding “an upside”. I see no upside from this hyperinflation environment. Hyperinflation harms everyone for a long time, especially those on fixed incomes like us and most of the older population, the poor, working poor and the middle class. And it harms 3rd world poor nations. They all dream of reaching prosperity similar to the USA but world inflation and exorbitant energy costs will make that impossible. As the fed attempts to slow and moderate inflation it may likely lead to a serious recession. Hyperinflation will cause higher unemployment and less job creation. It will even increase mortality. And the high energy prices will not lead to any creation or advancement in “green” energy. Under any circumstances we are 50 or more years away (likely way more) from replacing fossil fuel energy with carbon neutral green energy. The price tag to do so will be astronomical. Sorry didn’t mean to get up on my soap box. Just my 2 cents worth. I’m going back to watching an old movie from 1956, Moby Dick. First movie I ever saw in a theater as a little kid. It’s as good now as it was then. (I hope the mods don’t consider this political as it’s not. I’m purely looking at this from an economic standpoint.)

I didn't say hyperinflation was an upside... I said high fuel prices might put a damper on hyperinflation.

In any case oil by the barrel dropped about 13% today. What a ride.
