Way back when I got my first pair of polycarbonate safety glasses a friend told me "treat them like a paint job and they will last as long".

Something I also discovered along the way, treating your clean poly glasses with Pledge furniture polish helps in two ways.
    1) Reduces dust from sticking and you can blow dust right off, no touch.
    2) It will brighten up an older pair of glasses by filling in the scratches.

I can't take credit for the above, I noticed a can of Pledge in a chemical delivery guys tool kit and asked what it was for.

I've been trying to kill my old mower for 15 years. I'd like to try one of the rechargables. This year we are rocking most of the front lawn and all of the back will go under landscape pavers, and the pasture will get sheep to keep it down... and the old mower will last as long as it lasts. Gotta say, for a cheap mower it has lasted far beyond expectations.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gals! Didn't sleep well for some reason, so it's a late start. Going to smoke some ribs and sausages, and see about more garage progress! One 1/2 tool boxes are actually tool boxes again. That's a treat. Have a happy Sunday all!

FWIW -I've had polycarb prescription glasses for years. With any care at all, my eyes will change before the glasses ever do.

I really do not know the answer to the question. When I was much younger and worked for Ma Bell all outside plant persons had to wear safety glasses when working. Ma Bell had prescription glasses made for me. I bet today they use the polycarbonate lenses.

The awning is installed and leveled up. I can always move the grills and griddle around as needed.

If safety glass lens are the same as auto safety glass then there's a plastic film in between the glass. My guess is the film may get distorted which blur out the user vision.

As technology improves the users are the one who will benefit.

Driving back from Utah 3 miles from our friends house at 0 dark hundred I crashed my wife’s car. One of the orange barrels uses in highway construction zones blew in front of me and I struck it. The wind was howling 50+ and the barrel must not have been weighted down. The was no time to react. Bang and multi thousands damage. Front bumper, quarter panel, running board and both doors scrape when opening.plus other damage. We made it home to California like that luckily. Took it to collision repair shop and was told it wasn’t drivable. Told him I just drove it 800 miles. He repeated, it’s not drivable. We were lucky. It’s only 1.5 years old, less than 12000 miles, haven’t had an accident in 30 plus years.
It’s being covered under comprehensive not collision so it won’t raise our insurance rates. Shit does happen. (At least it wasn’t the Taco).
Spouse just handed me a large glass of bourbon (Buffalo Trace Kentucky Bourbon). Things are looking better already.

Glad you are not hurt. That Toyota is not drivable, you can physically drive the car, but it isn't in the condition it should be in to operate safely on the road. Had you stopped after the accident, to say exchange information with another driver, or remove to barrel had it been lodged under the bumper, and the police showed up on the scene. They would most likely have the vehicle towed because it is not driveable. Your insurance company would most likely agree, and have the vehicle towed to a body shop. You drove the vehicle to a body shop for their expert opinion, and they deemed the vehicle not driveable.

    Sure you can drive it!

Just like you can drive a vehicle with a blown out tire, but most people would say a blown out tire on a car would render it not driveable.

a few weeks a go I saw someone driving a Corolla to a Toyota dealer with a shredded rear tire and a nice amount of damage from a side swipe collision up and down the entire passenger side. That Corolla wasn't driveable.

 so glad you're safe!

Is it just me, or does it seem they don't build 'em to be able to fix 'em any more...like they want to total 'em to sell us another one. :notsure: Everybody makes money somehow, insurance, body shop, car dealers, by taking it outta our wallets...abort rant. I'll put this :tinfoilhat: back on the shelf.
Again, glad you got home safe. :)

EDIT: I get the safety/technology makes us safer bit, so please spare me the Ralph Nader sermon. Thank you in advance.
Reckon that chin strap stuck.

I carry tools and duct tape in my truck. If I have a similar minor accident I’ll make sure no mechanical damage, drives true, make sure no loose trim and remove or duct tape it up and send it home.

After the accident I pulled over as soon as I could and thoroughly inspected the vehicle. The windshield washer fluid leaked out but no other fluid leaks anywhere. On a hard turn one tire rubbed on some plastic but didn’t affect the driving. The drivers door screeched when I opened and closed it. There were no noticeable drivable effects. I watched the instrument display closely but no lights lit up on the way home. I would not have driven it if I thought it was unsafe. Yes we were fortunate no injuries and fortunate we made it home with no problems.
The orange barrels are usually filled with sand or water to weight them down but the one that blew in front of me must not have been for some reason. Wrong place at the wrong time
We rented a Toyota RAV4 while the Highlander is in the shop. It’s a pretty nice car, I like it.
David, I to carry tools, duct tape and much more in my Taco but not th3 Highlander, that may change.
