:pccoffee:  Good morning fellow cool old dudes, Susan, pets, strays, walk-ons, wannabes, lurkers, and whoever else is out there. We've been getting the kind of weather that barely requires air conditioning -- although I have been running it in our lower level to keep the humidity under control. Rain overnight and today will hopefully help the woeful patch jobs we did in the yard where the ash trees used to be. Might be a day to curl up with a good book.

Been hot as heck here all week. Finally cooled down last night and is only going to be in the low 80s today. I'm off on vacation so today I'm going to do what I call the Grand Torino ride along the lake. Remember the ending of the movie grand torino when toad and daisy the dog are driving along the lake in the grand torino? That's where I live, I'm gonna do that ride on the ebike today.

All this talk about shingles has me making an appointment for my first shot next week. I was going to do it in April, but other issues popped up.

Did a Bison ribeye for dinner last night. First time I tried Bison and it was tasty.

We are leaving for the Maryland beach area today. My sister has a place in Ocean Pines and we are spending the weekend with her and her son. I think I am on the hook for wall mounting a TV in one of the bedrooms. Should be a fun weekend.

Hmmm, must be something in the water; my 2006 just needed a compressor replacement last week due to it leaking refrigerant; yeah, not cheap.

Good morning Ivan, Very dear friends of mine had a Grand daughter born with a tumor on her brain stem. Doctors told the parents to take her home and make funeral arrangements. Her parents wouldn't accept that and moved from Pittsburgh PA to Philadelphia to go to a doctor that specializes in these types of tumors. He told them the tumor at the time was inoperable but through treatment they could shrink it and in the future operate. In the meantime, the Pope visited Philadelphia and they were there. It was seen by many of the Pope touching and kissing a baby and alas that was her. Now 8 years later this little lady is still with her family and even though she has issues, she is the happiest and loving person her age I know. I tell folks that her heart is bigger than she is. So to you Ivan I say God Speed and God Bless you. I don't consider my self a religious person, but when it comes to Giana I do believe.

    Good :rain: Morning all.
Wishing you the best on your surgery @Travlr . Keep us posted on recovery.
Reading all the back posts about illnesses and such I hope everyone is finally doing good.

I think we need to change Tom's screen name from 95SLE to Chef Tom...:hungry::drool:

Okay, we need to lighten up with the bickering. Everyone has opinions about things posted here but the one thing we need to do is Respect each others opinions and not rebut them. This is a great group with many different talents, ideas and life experiences so lets get along folks.
Life is good and as we get older our time is getting shorter for us to not enjoy it. Nuff said.

Hope you all have a great day and be safe.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gal!
Chef Tom, indeed. I'll second that. I aspire!
Glad to hear a great steroid story Mark - I remember when I first got knee injections it seemed to do that, after a while...not so much! But your chores are done.
    And good luck @Travlr!
And to quote Ken; "Life is good, relaxin' on the porch!!" Let's keep it that way!
As for me today, not much but store and Putz. And pool.

I’m bummed. On Friday my wife and I were planning to see the new Top Gun movie. I was really looking forward to this because a good friend of mine was going to accompany us. He is a former navy combat pilot who also is a graduate of the Top Gun school. I thought it would be fascinating to get his insight and views on what goes on in the movie. He is an amazing guy. He’s entertained us for hours with his aviation stories.
Reason we can’t see the movie Friday- my wife and I both tested positive for Covid yesterday. We contacted our doctor and got started on antivirals yesterday afternoon. So far it’s mild kind of like a cold. We’re both vaccinated and boosted . Our doctor thinks we’d do just fine without the antivirals but due to age (over 65) says the antivirals are a good idea.
Gonna kick back for a few days, watch movies and read good books. I’ll update in a day or two.

Darn Ken, hope it's just a minor inconvenience, seems like most who are vaccinated have minor symptoms and are OK, hopefully that applies to both you and your wife.

Good morning. Sorry to hear about the A/C going tilt. Question: did you ever have refrigerant added or brought to fully filled status? I know that the seals do let a little refrigerant bleed through to lubricate them. Just wondering if it lost lubrication and bit the dust? I had all the refrigerant extracted then put back in to factory weights a few years ago. Maybe I wasted $150 at the shop to do that. It still runs as cool as new though.

Truck A/C has been serviced couple times over the years. Compressor was original 06. Service writer called around 5pm yesterday, says they have everything back online, waiting for the new compressor. Could be a day or two. Fine with me, I get to drive wife's Lexus couple days, and it's full of GAS! Gotta have two vehicles living out here.

Next day, shop called about 1pm, all done. Cool, and expensive. I had one other item taken care of, wife smacked a mailbox with her passenger side mirror, knocking it loose inside the housing. Service writer fixed it in the parking lot for free. It just snaps together, but can't see it, and snaping plastic parts together blind, have to know what you're doing, and I didn't. And now I know, for the next time.

I have to share what just happened. My wife came in with the mail; one item was addressed to my mother's estate. I opened it, and it was a check from one of her former health care providers. "Look, a check!", I said. Another one was addressed to me, from the state. "Maybe that's a check too", my wife joked. I opened it -- it was a check! Just a check, with no explanation, but I'm guessing I overpaid my taxes. I'll take two checks in the mail every day, please, thank you. :)

Hope it's mild and gone quick. That movie will still be in theaters in a couple weeks, maybe your friend can still join you.

I had my working AC drained and charged in the summer of covid. It blew up in two weeks. Ended up at another shop for 100% rebuild, and it caught Covid. He destroyed my auxiliary wiring, and had me lose my E Fan. Still doesn't cool as well as it used to.
Let them run until they quit. THEN update it!

Back from surgery. Up at 4:45 AM to get there by 7:15. Cutting began about 9, and woke up about 10:30. Out the door by 11:30. Home by a little after 1PM. No pain and the arm is wrapped up pretty tight. Told to ice it and keep it elevated continuously for 3-4 days. No lifting anything over two pounds for two weeks.

You can see the loss of muscle between the thumb and hand as well as a general loss over the entire hand. Can't see the little and ring finger numbness, or the lack of strength, but it's there.

    imagejpeg_0(1) (1).jpg

Doc says it was easier than expected and all went well. We'll see in six weeks...
