Is this your photo? Either way -this is a beautiful shot. Someone took an already outstanding photo and made it even better -just by throwing a stone in the water (I think) -- NEAT

@Sprig, during my first bout with COVID in early 2020 I learned "COVID loves a lazy body"; at the time I was hiking almost daily and remember my lungs and ribs hurting like a son of a beach while out. A doctor told me, "Yes, it hurts; keep doing what you're doing and you'll recover faster." The day after my second COVID diagnosis I went for a 6-mile run; yeah, it suckethed much; as did the run I did the day after my third bout early this year. Long story short, you may be winded, you may have sore lungs and painful ribs, but keep'er going; you'll be glad you did in the end.

Thanks for the advice Dale. My usual daily exercise includes riding a stationary bike, working out in the pool, some weights and a good cardio session working out and punching the heavy bag (I was a boxer and still enjoy punching things).I’m going to start back probably with the heavy bag today and see how that goes. Another thing I’m doing is keeping myself super hydrated which I know improves energy and helps a body heal. I always stay super hydrated due to my history of kidney stones.

I completely understand, as a former member of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children, I still enjoy blowing sh..., uhhh, "stuff" up.

As the natives here in New Hamster say, "Wicked smaat!" I'm already almost done with my second large pot of Oolong tea for the day, although I probably lost over half of that out on the trail during my 7.5 mile run on a very humid 94° day.

I am addicted to connectivity and technology. I’m doing more than flushing a toilet. I’m the supply to the sewage treatment plant. I was thinking of my tech type subscriptions. I converted all to monthly cost.

    • DishNetwork TVs 250 channels Hopper 3 with 2 Super Joeys - $170
    • 320/13Mbit - $107
    • Netflix 4K - comes with cell plan
    • Amazon Video - included with Amazon Prime.
    • Disney+ - shared from my daughter
    • Hulu 4K - shared from my son
    • FuboTV - $69 but seasonal
    • Apple storage upgrade - $4
    • Google storage 100GB upgrade - $2
    • Microsoft 365 subscription - $6
    • Intuit Quicken - $4
    • Pandora Plus - $5
    • SiriusXM - $7
    • Cell phone - $95

Google Fiber will knock about $40 off this disaster next week.

Ya know what really turned me off of ''tech"? When they started selling subscriptions with the promise of no advertising.

I mean... didn't we all really KNOW that was a bogus sales pitch?

Now all of those initial services have ads. Maybe a few that charge a premium for ad free service. A very few that came a little later and charge more per month and will probably change to ads in the next few years... Special equipment to record so we can fast-forward through ads.

I am the opposite of addicted to connectivity. I don't buy it because I don't "buy" IT.

No, just something I found while looking for a "good birthday appropriate" photo, it just grabbed my attention too.
It seemed the very picture of tranquility. :)

Funny, years ago I had film cameras, read the photo magazines, etc.
Although my pictures were good from a technical standpoint they were boring. I just don't have any artistic gift it seems. I could have taken pictures for service manuals and the like I guess.

TY for the info. I have a 09 with the 2.4 engine. Only problems so far is I had to replace both rear hubs. Costly adventure with the passenger side being considerably more than the driver's side. No aftermarket so it was Toyota parts for me.

Nice read Ken and a happy belated birthday.

Ken: My wife had the same happen to her a while back. I am happy to read, in your follow up posts, that both you and the missus are getting better.

Mike: Great pics as always. Did I spy a 67 Vette? Hard to tell from the pic but the backup lights and all 4 taillights seem to be red.

X2 on this channel. His channel has gained more traction in the last two years.

We had a nice 4-day visit at my sister's beach home. Helped her with a few projects and did a little cooking. I need to figure out how to view Tacoma world from my cell and/or tablet before leaving on a vacation or weekend getaway again.

Off to the grocery store this morning for a major shopping adventure. LOL

I will whole heartedly agree with you on this. Ads are getting out of control. The greed of companies make you pay more to get zero ads. Hulu is a perfect example. You pay a higher rate to skip ads. We do that. I’ve been in the tech software and security business for nearly 40 years. I’ve learned how to get around a few things. I never see an ad on YouTube except if it’s built into the video directly. Of course you can’t use Chrome as the browser because Google owns Chrome and YouTube. There are great ad blockers that work very well.

In the corporate world IBM is satan with Apple a close second as far as charging you for everything. These thugs buy up companies and quadruple the licensing fees. It hits the consumer also. Look up the “new” business models of Weather Underground and DarkSky.

All better now. About 1/4" play I'm that inner rod. Others were still fine.

Update on the 2016 4Runner that a friend brought over.

Firestone told her "radiator" and "rack and pinion" both needed replacement. Everything was bone dry! No signs of any leakage, she didn't realize the "high" and "low" marks on the expansion tank are "when hot and cold". Hence had overfilled the expansion tank when cold, so a week later added more fluid. Thankfully folks at Autozone did seal her "Peak" coolant for Toyota, so all is good.

The power steering pump does weep. Super common to find a drop of fluid under the pump, but others looked good.

All original spring hose clamps (which is good as they provide constant clamping).

The radiator cap is hidden under the plastic air inlet cowling. Quick-release fasteners, so popped them off to look. Cap was dusty and 5 years of grime. It hadn't been touched in years. So much for the "it failed a pressure test". After sitting for three hours, the hoses still had pressure. Didn't disturb it. Zero red crusties (spend some time with a flashlight and mirrors, nada).

She thought it was 4WD, but no transfer case, front diff, nor half shafts said RWD.

I found one rubber boot with damage on the sway bar linkage.

I did find a loose battery clamp hold down. 10mm were never tightened.

All four tires had been replaced, ONE rear lug nut very night. All front lug nuts are way too tight. I had an 18" breaker bar and had to use all 240 pounds to loosen those lug nuts!

Brake Moisture at 1% (that was fine).

Pretty complete inspection, six-year-old Toyota ready for another 100,000 miles.

My daughter and her fiancee made it over in his new to him 2004 Jeep YJ. It's got a good 2.4L engine, underpowered but with a 5-speed (she can drive it, he is still learning stick). Oh boy, we had fun checking it. Brake fluid was over 4% moisture (huge fail) but thankfully no trace of copper (brake line corrosion). 33,000 original miles. His parent's friend bought it new but had rarely driven it. Sadly underpowered but with a 5.3 Vortec and some better gearing.
