Agreed with the exception of Kansas, flattest state I ever drove through with miles between a tree or two lol. Met my wife in Witchita, I swear that woman was a gypsy, been everywhere but I’ve travelled a lot of places myself so can’t say much.
Funny story a friend of my wife from Kansas visited NC and hated driving on the rural roads here, said the trees so thick and close to the road she couldn’t see anywhere made her feel claustrophobic.

Kansas is flat? I found a lump in the middle of nowhere, loomed up all of a sudden, a railroad crossing. Got airborn going over those tracks, broke an axle coming down.
Then there's Big Brutus, this one made a valiant attempt to make Kansas un-flat.

Born and raised in San Francisco never heard the saying Left coast till the Yawkers started moving in. We used to complain that the imports were ruining the City, now it’s the techies and yuppies. Either way it’s not home anymore. Left coast OK just don’t call me old Dagnabbit!

Haha well Moes I would say the direction of this thread was kicked off at least in part with your “Texas paying for its transgressions” post! :D
Drive a Tacoma and always wanted to take flying lessons, got married and other things like family became higher priority. Brother on the other hand who was always afraid of heights got his private pilots license!

I don’t get this, who cares what someone calls a certain part of the country or a certain city. It’s no reflection on anyone who lives there unless they let that happen. The “left coast” mostly has political connotations but some people refer to it as the left coast because when looking at a map it’s the coast on the left. Hell, San Franciscans use to get upset when others referred to it as Frisco and some get upset when referring to the city of Berkeley as Bezerkely. Who cares? Chill, let’s just move on.

Aint no one here old. Mature perhaps but not old. You know I’m really getting to hate when I see a doctor and they start a sentence, you know Mr. Thompson as you get older blah blah blah or people your age can’t do blah blah like they use to. Or if they use the word elderly I wanna punch their lights out.

The following comes directly from the SS website

f you are under full retirement age for the entire year, we deduct $1 from your benefit payments for every $2 you earn above the annual limit. For 2022, that limit is $19,560.

In the year you reach full retirement age, we deduct $1 in benefits for every $3 you earn above a different limit. In 2022, this limit on your earnings is $51,960. We only count your earnings up to the month before you reach your full retirement age, not your earnings for the entire year.

If your earnings will be over the limit for the year and you will receive retirement benefits for part of the year, we have a special rule that applies to earnings for one year. The special rule lets us pay a full Social Security benefit for any whole month we consider you retired, regardless of your yearly earnings.

If you receive survivors benefits, we use your full retirement age, for retirement benefits when applying the annual earnings test (AET) for retirement or survivors benefits. Although the full retirement age for survivors benefits may be earlier, for AET purposes, we use your full retirement age for retirement benefits. This rule applies even if the beneficiary is not entitled to retirement benefits.

Read our publication, “How Work Affects Your Benefits,” for more information.

When you reach full retirement age:

    • Beginning with the month you reach full retirement age, your earnings no longer reduce your benefits, no matter how much you earn.
    • We will recalculate your benefit amount to give you credit for the months we reduced or withheld benefits due to your excess earnings.
How We Deduct Earnings From Benefits
In 2022, if you’re under full retirement age, the annual earnings limit is $19,560. If you will reach full retirement age in 2022, the limit on your earnings for the months before full retirement age is $51,960.

Starting with the month you reach full retirement age, there is no limit on how much you can earn and still receive your benefits.

That all has to do with the prostate. Great little organ when we’re young but not so much as we “mature”. In fact they tend to cause more problems than the damn things are worth. This is probably not a subject us curmudgeons want to pursue.

I got hit with that for the first time back when I was in my mid-30s; but first, a story...

During the spring of 1991 my (much) younger brother was in the midst of his junior year at a university in Aix-en-Provence; I was planning on flying over to Paris and then spending a week or so doing a leisurely bicycle tour down to Aix to see him for a few days before taking the TGV back to Paris to fly home (Chicago at the time). Three days before I was set to fly over he called and asked when I planned on getting to his place and I told him, "Not for about 10 days; why?"

"Oh, too bad, I just scored two tickets to Dizzy Gillespie in Marseille for Thursday evening."

"Hmmm," I thought, "a little over five hundred miles in four days, yeah, I can do that." I told him, "I'll be there."

A few days later, I was still north of Lyon, with about half the ride ahead of me, I felt a few twinges in one of my knees and figured it was time to start hitting the Ibuprofen, unfortunately I didn't have any. I stopped in to a pharmacy in a quaint little town along the banks of a river and asked for Motrin or Ibuprofen, "Sorry, you cannot buy that in France without a prescription." I then asked for aspirin which they happily sold me in a plastic tube about the diameter of a U.S. Nickel; standing on the sidewalk outside the pharmacy I opened the cylinder only to see what looked like lozenges, "Hmmm," I thought, "chewable aspirin?"

I'll leave the story there for a moment and mention I do not speak French, however, had I bothered to look at the label, I would probably have noticed a word which whould have informed me of my incorrect assumption; the word was "effervescente". And now back to the story...

Standing there on the sidewalk, locals all around, I started foaming at the mouth; desperate to wash it down I took a swig from one of my water bottles, which as you can imagine, only made the foaming worse. To this day I very distinctly remember the words of one passer-by, "Crazy American!"

Anyway, I made it to Aix, saw one of Dizzy's very last concerts, and then made it back to Chicago. I rang up a local "Sports Medicine" doctor and went in for a consultation; the doctor's final comments to me were, "Don't you thing your too old to be riding a bicycle 125 miles per day?" Yeah, I never went back to that doctor.

Well you youngsters can still claim to be so, but I'm old. To prove it, I just got my last scheduled colonoscopy. My Dr told me he removed 8 polips, and unless I had symptoms in the future, at my age I won't be needing another colonoscopy. They stopped doing the PSA test about 10 years ago, saying I'd die of old age before any cancer got me.
