Gave blood yesterday. While giving blood I received an email that the hours to pick up Election Judge material had been changed from 12 pm to 4 pm to 4 pm till 7 pm. Not a big deal. So, I get there at 4 and the doors do not open till 5, I was worried because I had a family event at 7 pm. The line was already long with no parking down by the warehouse. No one emerged from the warehouse till 6 pm with the materials so I knew yesterday was a wash for me. Then the rains came at 6:10 so I left and sent an email to the Election Board contact advising her thar I will be there at 8am Monday morning. One nice thing about being a senior is I just do not care what someone else thinks about me, I cannot control that. With the manpower shortages for the upcoming election, the Election Board will be thrilled I show up at 8 am on Monday.

Today I am cooking Pineapple wedges and taking them over to my sisters for dinner. One of my favorite cousins and her husband is in town to see the newest addition to the clan. Going to be a good time.

I just looked it up. It is $19,560 for early retirement and they'll take $1 back for every $2 you earn over that amount.
Once you reach full retirement age (65, 66, or 67, depending on your birth date) you can earn up to $51,960 and they will take back $1 dollar for every $3 that you earn over that.
Once you reach 70, there are no earning limits.

Edit: sorry, as I read further, someone already posted this information.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/various hangers-on. It rained last night, finally! We were sorely in need. Supposed to be dreary and rainy for the next few days too. I'm fine with it; the yard is at least starting to look less beige and more green.

There was some chatter earlier about security systems, which is something I've been chewing on for a while. I want to put a handful of cameras up and have them feed back to somewhere or another. I'm torn between keeping it in house or using a service like Ring. I'll probably end up going with them though. I want it all to be Power over Ethernet (PoE) with that power having a battery backup. I'm still playing around with the logistics of how to get that done because some of the cable runs will be pretty long. From what I've read though I should be okay.

I'm also chewing on how best to set up a WiFi system that covers the house, yard, and detached garage. Everybody talks about the mesh systems but I'm not aware of any of the consumer grade stuff having an outdoor unit that can be added to the mesh. So I've been slowly building up a TP-Link system. They have outdoor access points and indoor access points in all shapes and sizes, and you can link them together using a central management unit. They don't look as sexy as the Eero's and GoogleFi's and whatnot but they have a lot more options to choose from. I'm also hoping I'll get greater range, reliability and longevity.

Ok, You long-haired hippie! :) Many of my family members are buried in Evergreen Cemetary.

1974: I was 16, full beard and shoulder-length hair. I went to get my driver's license. CHP clean-cut patrolman was doing testing that day. His first comment "I hate hippies." Failed. Thankfully the second attempt, I got a civilian tester and passed!

I was only 10 in '74 and quite the anti-hippie at the time. Even more so as the mills closed down. But I've since moved on. And at the risk of sounding political I should probably stop at that. But I did have a great childhood and teen years. I went to Ukiah High and Ft Bragg High.

    Hi Dave,
I like your approach, if I were going with an extensive camera system a higher quality 2k or 4k system is better. I only chose ring to integrate with my ring alarm system and the front porch and back deck cameras have adequate wifi signals from my existing wifi modem to work properly.
POE is a wired system with both power and ethernet over the same cable as I’m sure you know, while TP-Link is wireless mesh wifi (but likely hardwired power for many devices like cameras that connect using that wifi) so not sure how you plan to integrate the two systems but I know it’s doable.
You may have already seen lifehackster reviews on Youtube, but if not here’s a link. He reviews all types of camera and security systems and is very thorough! I leaned heavily on his reviews when selecting my ring alarm system as well as my ring doorbell camera.
