:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/shoe shoppers. We got another gully washer last night and the gutters did their job as designed. :woot: Today I hope to start on the rotted stairs. I'm going to spray them a few times with a borax solution and let it soak in, then I'll figure out a way to rebuild the step that rotted.
We employ a trick here to keep the downspouts from clogging up; we use oversized 4" downspouts. We have trees too, and I need to clean the gutters twice a year, but we've never had a downspout clog -- until that bird showed up. The nest was made from small twigs, I think that's what did it. Enough of them went down the spout at once to start a jam, then the usual gunk built up behind it. I half expected to find a dead bird in there, fortunately I didn't.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gal! Think I'm going to limit myself to like one chore a day - heat is taking a toll! Did spend a bunch of pool time after mowing, but a lot of that was pucking off tiny algae spots. Heard back from Masterbuilt about my smoker issue - follow their troubleshooting step by step, or it's no go! That will be todays chore.

With all this talk about footwear... has anyone gone to a Good Feet Store?

We get advertisements for them, but they are a hundred miles away and we only make it up there less than once a year. Is it worth a visit or just advertising?

That's the store! Not Happy Feet. One in North Austin, not sure if I can wedge in time with Dr. visits, central and south. If I get there, I'll remember to share tho!

Yeesh, as someone who's had it three times (first time long before the vaccine was developed, second time after the first two shots, third time after my first booster), I can honestly say, any COVID infection post-vaccination is trivial compared to being unvaccinated. I wish this individual well, but they are being willfully ignorant regarding the benefits and risks associated with the vaccine.

I believe it; the first time I had it (became ill last week of January 2020) I was rehabbing from a broken leg so instead of going out for a run I went out for a hike on a trail I had been doing several times per week prior to getting ill. At the time I thought I had a nasty sinus infection, but that first day out on the trail (about a week after falling ill) was insane; my ribs literally felt like they had when I'd broken a half-dozen of them playing football back in the 70s. Still not understanding I had COVID (later diagnosed from antibodies in my blood), I went out on the trail daily; after maybe two weeks my ribs stopped being painful but my other symptoms lasted through November 2020.

In September 2021, the doctor who diagnosed me with my second case of COVID told me my daily hikes when I had it the first time may well have saved my life; his words to me were, "COVID hates an active body."

Greg wishing you the best. Take care of yourself. My wife and I had it a few weeks ago, not fun. Give your doctor a call, don’t wait. They will prescribe antiviral’s (if you want them). They must be started within 5 days of symptoms. I took them with no problems. They work in preventing severity, hospitalization, and death. My doctor truly believes in their efficacy in that he prescribed them for both his parents and they recovered in a week.

Agreed, the second time I had it I felt crappy for about a day, then really sick for about 6 hours, and then, "poof", I felt better; I went for a run the next day. The third time I had it I felt crappy for about a day and that was it.

I buy that exact a pair a year. I lather them up with Nubuck wax even though you're probably not suppose to. They are my winter shoe. Last year's shoes go in the garage for yard work. I love the quick slip-on and go function.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
About 20 years ago or so, I started having problems with plantar fasciitis. Doctor suggested orthotics, I held off and did some research. I found a stretching routine that I tried. Works like a champ. These days, I can feel the tightness building and do some stretching while sitting around in the evening before bed. Only takes about 10-15 minutes and usually only 1 night if I catch it soon enough.

What I found that works is pointing my toes for a count of 30, then pull my toes up for a count of 30. Repeat. Like I said, I'll do this for 10 minutes, 15 if I still feel pulling/tightness in my soles after 10 minutes.

My ankles like this routine also.
