Hola Porch Pals & Sue! Coming and going....so catch up time! First, because. There is a former Valero station that is being reopened as a Sunoco in nowhere Maxwell. They seem to think something is important, and I've never quite seen it like this....

So, I wasted a lot of time erranding yesterday chasing down a new Lowe's web product description. Wanted a little bench grinder and wire wheel (separate) to clean up some parts. Should have been 3 to choose from in San Marcos - one beat up open box, no wheel. Got my haircut, looked up Kyle Lowe's at lunch. Should have three to choose from. And wheels "low in stock". Have the one model, no wheels. Grinders read in fine print "In Stock (for pickup October 3)". Wheels? Finally got help. Nope - don't have them. Theat's certainly "Low in Stock". Let me check - "no one in Central Texas has them, and none on order". Put the grinder back. Get home, and find I can actually buy one AND a wire wheel at Home Depot in Austin - so ordered for pickup after Autonation RAV service.

So early to Austin for the RAV. Pull in right on time. The usual advisor comes out to check on me - my Toyota Care is not expired, so what do we have to do. He checks. I'm at about 12.5K, and last time I was there we did 15K. So. Nothing. Could rotate tires - how long? 3K. OK, no. Push the buttons and reset it! Fastest service ever. Hobble in to Hope Depot, pick up my stuff, and head home. Rest my butt/leg which is killing me for an hour. Mow and trim yard.

Go set up my little grinder and brush, put the bolts in brake kleen, and hit them with the new spinning brush! Not going to put greasy stuff back on!

Got some new drill wheels too, and went after the thermostat housing.

Got on the front of the block best as I could. It'll do.

Amazon lost my idler/tensioner wheels that should have been here yesterday. They don't show up, the old ones will be cleaned and go back on - nothing wrong with them. Have a new thermostat to go on too. Now that I have mowed, I have all day tomorrow to patiently put things back together.

So, @ImpulseRed008 - my knockoff braces showed up tonight!! LOL Absolute junk. Strap doesn't even make it around the knee, and the top and bottom straps are guaranteed to cut off any circulation! I'll just order the right stuff. The knee brace worked IF I don't wake up to go in the middle of the night, then..... At least when I got walking again today, it goes away (mostly)!

    And...
Bill, if he prescribed Repatha as injection, I will give you 2 months worth of input. It will get after your numbers like nothing I have ever used. Overall number down over 50 points since last test. Well below the "high" number desired. LDL had my doctor literally drooling at the change. It will work. It''s NOT cheap, but we are all worth it. I can't tolerate most statins, and was using Livalo, without side effect, but not much number change either. Repatha DOES give me the same bizarre dreams that statins did, and could not tolerate when working. But, with the CPAP I didn't have then, it's not so bothersome. I'll just sleep in if I have to!

That's all folks - too much for a good morning chat, so I will see you then with a shorter message!

Sorry they didn't work.... I've never used one, hope the real ones work... ads on tv make them out to be a miracle cure.

 evening boys.... getting rather breezy out

    Ken,

I lived/worked in Alice Springs for five years (93-98). Trust me, there's LOTS of kangaroos in the outback. Kangaroo meat was half the price of beef. Had a different taste, but was very lean and very tender. Really miss the place.

Ken: The first pic made me think of Vietnam. The locals would take our discarded packaging and build a substantial home. Discarded pallets were used for wood framing. Sodas and beer would come in pallets wrapped in wax cardboard. They would use the cardboard for walls with the wax side exposed to the elements. They made a press that would flatten beer and soda cans into a rectangle and use them as roofing shingles. I wish I would have taken pictures.

We, my wife and I, removed the rotted wood landscaping timbers yesterday and cut back the roots leading up to the timbers. Today is two minor items, digging out the electrical box for relocation and pounding the rebar and two nails back through on one salvaged piece of landscaping timber. Supposed to start raining today and end next Tuesday. I need to go to the food store for a few items this morning and to get the Tacoma filled up with gas.

Pic of the removed landscaping timbers.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/self-injectors. I'm hoping our fellow TWers in Ian's path are faring as well as possible.

A close friend of mine came down with **VID, he has a fair number of inherited medical issues and I'm really concerned about him. So far it's been mild, and his doctors don't think he needs to go the paxlovid route which is encouraging. He says it feels like a bad cold. It hasn't affected his sense of humor at all!

I ended up making 4 runs total, 3 for 1/2 ton loads and a final 500 pounder. I did three runs yesterday, they know me on sight over there now. :)

As I left the stone folks with the first load yesterday, a pretty big tree branch fell onto the road about 50 feet ahead of me. I thought gee, that was close! Stopped, moved it off the road, went on my way. Then this morning I read in the local paper where a guy in a cart on the golf course was killed by a tree branch falling on him yesterday. That's a heck of a way to go out. Be safe out there folks, and keep some luck in your pocket just in case.

    Good morning fellow Porchatonians!

Enjoying a week away....in Hilton Head Island SC. Currently watching Ian passing by. Moderate to light rain and winds gusting into the 50s. Got a condo on a golf course that sits back about 1.5 miles from the beach so no flooding issues. Everything closed up yesterday - most by 1PM - so we made sure we had a good stock of food and adult beverages. We're just hanging out in the condo today - most everything is still closed but hopefully restaurants will be open for dinner.

    Stay safe!!

Thanks for all the vacation info and pics. Someone has to be exciting around here! And, near as I can tell, none of this crew badly hit in Florida (and I hope I'm right!!)

Well, maybe my little "chat" with Amazon last night paid off.... Will I see my replacement idlers today?

Original tracking was they put it on a truck to Austin from Kyle - then covered that trail with "delayed". In the chat, she told it "it would be delivered" - so then you DO know where it is? "No, but I have escalated your issue". I told them I wanted to see SOMETHING in my tracking today - lost or otherwise!

    That’s my little buddy.

38FAE436-346A-464E-AF04-BD0B3C29110D.jpg He’s getting up here in years and his vision is failing. He doesn’t see the smaller twigs and they poke him in the face so I was going to clear the sidewalk for him but wound up doing the whole yard and street.

Well 40+ years ago I was driving a Toyota Corolla from Townsville to Cairns and hit one. It took out the drivers side (right) front fender and killed the roo.

    I hear you Bryan.
During my years in Alice Springs I got caught up in the sport of gliding ..... did a couple of 500K flights (in a plane with no engine). I and two other club members drove down to the Melbourne area to purchase and haul back a glider to Alice Springs. I was driving at night when a road train came flying by and the turbulence got the glider trailer to swaying so bad we ended up in the ditch....scary! The next night the flight instructor was driving and hit two roos that were standing in the road .... took out the front bumper. Exciting times.

Well, FML. They put on an actual truck at 11am. So, I kinda' dawdle along, clean and install to the point I'm ready for the idler. "Your package is now scheduled for delivery today. Between 5 and 8. We'll, not knowing what failed (though I'm pretty sure it was pump), do I install the old after all this? Guess I'll wait and start early tomorrow, new or old. My work is all shiny though.
