:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! A cool 55* to start the day, and only 0.08" of promised rain over Sunday and yesterday. Not enough at all. At some point this week, I will mow - lawn said stop about a week ago - might be the last one of the season.

Back to the cooling system in the Taco again. After the burp and a new cap seemed to take care of buttoning it up, the temperature started fluctuating wildly on short errands (never in the drive, of course). I was no longer losing coolant overnight, and the level is exactly where it was on the reservoir. And it smelled like coolant when shut off. Yesterday, I found what seems to be a pin hole in the bottom hose, spraying the alternator. So, today, off they come. I know that's not causing the fluctuation, but a leak still has to be fixed. Let's see; new thermostat, new fan clutch, new cap, and new pump. So, what is it? Hmm....

Sure enjoyed the 2000GT stuff - special cars they are!

All depends on the racing series.

After you replace the hose, burp the heater, there is probably an air bubble in it, that will often give a fluctuation temperature gauge.

Well, after 8 months and 600+ posts, I'm finally an official member of the Tacoma community; today I picked up my Barcelona Red 2022 TRD Sport, Premium, LED and Advanced Tech packages, along with the all important 6-Speed Manual transmission (my old 2006 Acura TL 6MT is in the background). :)

Excellent choice, great color - enjoy!

    3 pedals
At about 30K I swapped the factory fill for Motorcraft XT-M5-QS, it made a noticeable improvement in shifting smoothness. (Meets Toyota specs.)

Interesting, I did kind of the same thing with the Acura, the Honda MTF suckethed much, ACDelco Synchromesh Friction Modified worked wonders on that transmission. Thanks for the head's up, I'll look into the Motorcraft MTF.

Rock Auto had the best price.

I'm a pretty slow driver (and shifter too), frequently second especially would not quite grind but you could feel in the stick the syncromesh being not quite fast enough, the fluid change eliminated the problem on the first trip around the block.

Overall the transmission instantly felt smoother, slicker. I'm at 45K now and it shifts very nicely. Lots of fun to drive.

Well.... that pinhole spewed more than I thought.
Old hose was sponge rubber, so I got the top and bottom replaced. Filled and burped for a long time. Only got a chance to go around the block. Film at eleven!

If you got the tranny cooler, check your fluid level!!! I didn't have a stick shift, but my auto shifted horribly. When I did a complete flush, itwas well over a quart low and she shifted SO MUCH better afterwards.
