Hah! Cleaning up, I found enough 1x2 to make a splint, and 2 painted cutoffs to trim.
    That'll do for now!

    Good day folks.
Just having my morning coffee and pondering what to do today? In Perth until the 15th when we leave for Singapore. I'm just enjoying the down time from sightseeing. Its been one Hell'uva trip. Scratch Australia and New Zealand off the "Bucket List".

I have seen a lot of Harleys in Australia as well as BMW's. Could always tell when a Harley was coming by the unmistakable sound of a Harleys exhaust.

Have a good day all and be safe.

Congrats! Australia/New Zealand is on our bucket list, but waiting for retirement (deserves more than 2 weeks). Knocked France/Italy off our list this year. Deciding what’s next, Iceland/Scotland or Austria/Switzerland. Not sure we can afford all of them, but everyone needs a list! Got to do the big ones while I still have the energy.

I loved Perth. First place I’d return to if someone was sending me anywhere I wanted to go.

Hi Paul, definitely need time in New Zealand and Australia (and money). Australia has been bucket list for at least 30 years but as you said, it deserves more than 2 weeks. We met an Aussie couple 5 years ago in Bali Indonesia and they came Stateside for Christmas and we took them all around including Quebec Canada and went dogbsledding:woot:...great experience:thumbsup:. The pandemic held our trip up until it was opened up. It was nice having "tour guides" and a place to R & R (their house in Perth) because of our length of the trip.
Iceland is beautiful, but unpredictable weather can change plans. Switzerland is very pretty but also very expensive. No matter which ones you choose you will enjoy them. I watch YouTube for ideas on what to do and where to go.:D Helps in planning.
Next trip??? Wife hasn't decided yet:rolleyes:.
    Have a good day.

Our friends live in an area called Applecross which is in suburbia there. I found New Zealand and Australia to be very clean (except for parts of the cities), homeless were all over in the cities but they didn't bother you for change. The public parks are abundant, clean and well maintained for enjoyable walks or outings.. Perth is a good city, but like anywhere else it is growing and along with growth comes issues. The question I always ask myself is: Would you go back to visit? And in this case Keith the answer is YES:thumbsup:.

    Enjoy the day.

Usually I'm really pleased with myself for using something sitting around rather than buying new.
Then comes that moment that you realize whatever it is won't work...

Happy Veterans Day Alan, if you are ever in need of a ride to or from the VA I would be honored to take you. My wife works all day and I’m free most days. I’m glad you are getting what you need, peace.

I finally stopped riding because my balance isn’t what it was pre brain surgery. Smaller bikes would probably be OK but I’m a Harley guy and 6’3” 280 I look like a kid on a moped on most bikes. I am better off but I miss it. I ride the quad hunting but it’s not the same. Nothing like Hiway one in July. Even as an occasional bike rider I am feeling the sense of defeat, that this tumor stole. Then I remember the other 70+ % that didn’t make it and I’m grateful for every sunrise.

Welcome Cern we need our accelerator tuned up!

I live just a couple miles from the Livermore VA clinic, but Palo Alto is a 2 hr commute. I'd love some company for the drive, and I know of a good donut shop along the way! Hell, we could make a day of it and keep an eye peeled for elk on the route.

@Ivanimal sorry to hear that you had to quit riding. I'm sure the day will come when I'm going to face that decision and I don't look forward to it at all. Been riding since around 1985 when I got my first bike, traded a 1974 Dodge Challenger for a 1981 Kawasaki GPZ750, a bike I had absolutely no business owning for a first bike. Somewhere around 9 or 10 bikes since then and currently own 3. Spent 16 years working a part time job in the parts department of a Harley Davidson dealership I've ridden more different bikes than I can ever recall. Ridden in 32 or 33 states so far and would really like to visit the rest. I've hit a deer on my Buell, the one in my avatar. Been hit head on in TN while on vacation, hit a car due to my own inattentiveness once and broke my right wrist. I guess there's a fine line between a passion and an addiction sometimes because I don't honestly know what I'd do if I couldn't ride. A friend asked recently how many miles I've ridden and doing some rough figuring with just the bikes I've actually owned I'm somewhere north of 280k so far.

Started off with a KZ650 in 1977 not well taken care of, only a year old but dropped twice and ran hard never serviced or cared for. Kids mom bought it for him. I found out how easy it was to take good care of a bike from that, went to a V45 Magna commuted for 5 years from the peninsula to San Jose. That was the late 80’s early 90’s. Bought a soft tail and it was love at first ride. That bike just fit. Luckily I had My share of close calls but never dropped a bike. I saw a guy kick my Magna at a bar and dent the aftermarket pipe heat shield. He paid the price for that mistake. My biggest regret is not buying a bike in Europe and riding around then shipping it home. I wanted a Moto Guzzi bad but when I rode them they didn’t feel right. The Beemers felt right but I’m not a beemer type. I did rent a Moto Morini in Cannes and ride around Monte Carlo and Nice. Ah to be 26 again! I think I paid 26 bucks for the day!

Most of my freeway miles have been on 280 out here. Anyone from the area knows that it is the best of the Bay Area roads as far as commutes go. On a bike it’s pretty safe. The rest were mostly long rides once or twice a year. I’m probably all told under 50K total miles on a bike. It was just nice to know I could just go if I wanted to……..time to make some Ammo and go huntin I guess…….

Those KZs were nice bikes. One of the traditional UJM machines, inexpensive to own and operate, simple enough to maintain, almost more of an appliance than a motorcycle. The V-4 Hondas were always cool but any time you needed to work on the carbs you wanted to kill the engineer that designed that set up! Rode a lot of Harleys when I worked for a dealership. One of my favorite perks really. My main problem was that I got into bikes for the performance side of them and that's NOT really one of Harleys bigger selling points. Not saying they can't perform but in terms of bang for your buck the foreign makes were the way to go. It's the Buell in my avatar that really took me into a Harley dealership to begin with. I liked the idea of an American built sportbike and I still own it 27 years later. Sadly it's not as comfortable to me now that I'm 27 years older. LOL. I've ridden Moto Guzzi, Ducati, BMW, the big 4 Japanese makes. Never had a chance to ride a Moto Morini and they're not very common around here. I know of only 1 in my area and that's owned by a collector.

You're right, to be 26 again! I'd make all new mistakes the next time.
