Nice bike! Have some fond memories of British bikes. Also some not so fond ones, oil leaks, Lucas electrics and Amal carbs.

Sue: When it comes time to replace your smoke detectors, purchase a brand that comes with an app that will let you know when the batteries are low. I have Nest, now Google Nest, products and they are all monitored by a single app. I would like them to make two additional sensors, is a heat sensor, for the garage, and a water sensor for various rooms in the house.

Greg: Great looking bike and it fits you well. I have always liked the Triumphs in blue.

Good morning. We are off to brunch with live music this morning. This afternoon I should really start to sand the wooden bench slats. I disassembled the bench yesterday. Looks like the west coast is going to be pounded this week, if you live out west stay safe.

    Morning all:
Not a bike person, but that is a nice looking bike Greg, it's been a while since I have seen a Triumph, used to see them quite a bit.
An older gentleman I know bought a new modern Indian, best bike going yada, yada, yada, then the engine failed. He had it repaired and still had trouble with it, he is now cruising around on a Honda!

I've had many hondas, they are about as reliable as you can get. To me one of the biggest problems with motorcycles today is too much tech, and that stuff will fail and be costly to diagnose and repair. One of the reasons I chose the Bonneville was that it's pretty simple and basic with the tech, just fuel injection, abs brakes, and cruise controll, and I added heated grips which is important in my climate. And it was about half the cost of most other bikes out there. This is a modern take on an old classic, just enough tech and still be able to enjoy the true essence of motorcycling.

The days of having options, buying a stripped model as opposed to something covered up in options, seems to be long gone. Nice that you could get the bike with less tech and still techy enough to cover the less reliable issues of past models. I'd buy a new car if I could find one with only basic options. AC and cruise control are about as techy as I get.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/biker dudes and dudettes. We went to my sister's yesterday for one last holiday celebration. One of her daughter's family could not come because of C-you-know-what, a pretty common story these days. Apparently variant XBB.1.5 is coming for us all. We had a really good time, and the kids actually ran around in the woods and found animal bones. Imagine that, kids playing in the woods! In 2023!

I am going to spend the day organizing --- something. My clothing closet is a disaster area, the shelves in our storage space are too, and I have a pile of papers about 4 feet high to file away. Where to begin.

Drove 2 hours north yesterday to duck hunt at my duck blind (3 man blind, we split the annual lease cost). Got there and the whole area was flooded. It’s flooded anyway as the blind is on flooded rice land but the half mile dirt road leading there was covered in water. Too dangerous to drive on, so 2 more hours to drive back home with dog whining in my ear cause he didn’t get to hunt.

Then a big storm was starting about the time I was getting home. Pounding rain and high winds. Power went out about 11:00 pm. Power is back on this morning. The wind was gusting to 70 mph. The wind was loud, louder than I ever heard it here before. Sounded like a jet flying just above the roof. This morning it’s pretty calm , no rain. But this afternoon and into tomorrow another even bigger storm with big winds is coming in. Just going to hunker down, read a book and watch some movies. And I’m making a big pot of my tasty beef stew. Stew just seems to be the perfect comfort food for a day like this. Be safe all.

What are the tricks to keeping these generators functional? I see them all the time at yard sales, never running but relatively new. What mistakes are people making?

    Keeping fuel in the system.
    #2
    No maintenance

    It’s just minor common sense…..

My fuel has a limit of 60 days with stabilizer in anything.
My gen is full. The first of March it will be drained and used in my small engines and other projects.

    Oh Yea.
    DON’T DROP THEM
