yes it is. Town I grew up in Texas, if you got to the city limit sign they stopped chasing you. We would cruise into town later that night and they wouldn't do anything. Two city cops told us one night at a local gas station, "We'll get you next time". Now the really sad part is today, any kids pulling the stunts we did back then, would be shot and killed by the police, no questions asked.

    Good morning all!

I've got a pretty good cop story as well but this one involved a bike not a car. I spent 16 years working part time in the parts department of a Harley Davidson dealership here in PA and we serviced quite a few of the State Police bikes. We had a trooper come in complaining of a handling issue at "pursuit" speeds. Service writer hands the job to one of our techs who looks exactly like one would expect an old school biker mechanic to look like. Long hair in a ponytail almost to his waist, sleeve tattoos, couple of piercings in his one ear. Mechanic pulls front wheel and tire and throws it on the spin balancer, determines front tire has a belt separation problem that is very likely the source of the problem. Install new tire, balance and reinstall on bike. Tech now throws on his leather jacket, helmet and gloves and proceeds to head out for a test ride. He hops on I-81 heading north and takes the bike through the gears and up to speed, probably around 70-80 ponytail flapping in the air behind him. Suddenly he's seeing flashing lights and a siren followed by PA system announcement to pull over and keep his hands where they can be seen. PA trooper in a car pulls in behind him and exits the car with his hand already on his weapon. Our mechanic said he figured he had about 30 seconds to explain this situation or it could turn ugly.

Trooper asks for license and papers and tech explains who the officer is that rides this bike, what the problem was, and why he's exceeding the posted speed limit. The officer smiled and asked "So how fast do you need to go to test it?" Mechanic replied, "How fast do you pursue?". State trooper looked at our guy and told him, "Here's what we're going to do. I'm going to go lights and sirens, you're not. I will take you up to speed to verify this officer's bike is okay then we're going to pull over. Got it?" Mechanic grins and says "sure!" They proceed to head north on I-81 up to about 120-125 mph before pulling over again in a turn around to head south. Officer walks back and makes sure the bike is okay and asks if he needs to do it again but heading south this time. Mechanic grins and tells him, "Nope, it's all good now." and thanks him for the escort. He returned to the dealership with the officers card and the biggest shit eating grin I ever saw on him.

The wife's Kia Sportage adaptive braking almost puts you through the windshield it is so aggressive. I don't drive it much but keep forgetting to ask if they can adjust it back a bit. Tacoma isn't bad. I use the cc only on highways and interstates and works great.

It took me quite a while to get used to the ACC. The Avalon runs so smooth you do not know you are slowing down from 65 to 55 and then it is a chore to pass the slower vehicle at times. I do not drive the Avalon too much, wifes car, but on a trip to Memphis I notices that on the middle information screen a picture of a car would show up whenever the ACC was going to be engaged. I am a lot better with ACC now. I read the owner's manual when I get a new car but there is so much information it is easy to overlook things in the manual. I use ACC all the time.

Carl: Actually, had a stuck throttle on the 66 Vette. By the time I shifted into 4th gear and turned off the ignition I was doing 120 in the small town of Fairfield, PA. It was dusk and the flamed coming out of the side exhaust lit up the homes as I passed them by. The only damage was I lost a ball welded on to the end of a push rod. I limped home and used a magnet on a stick to retrieve the part through one of the oil ports in the head. I got lucky. I put in newer one-piece push rods as part of the fix. I still have the magnet on a stick. LOL

Good morning. Off to the grocery store, then on to PT followed by a quick trip to the gym. I am working on an inexpensive wood slat bench this afternoon. Yesterday I painted the side cast iron parts and the first pass on the wood slats with 90 grit sandpaper. A palm sander is your friend. Everyone have a great day.

Does anyone here in N.E. PA know of a over 60 golf league?

I'd like to join or at least feel it out.

I can't get in touch with any of the courses because they're closed.

    Morning all:

I had a couple of those pushrod balls break off also Tom, I had mentioned this before, the biggest problem I had was broken valve springs which was cured by installing McQuay Norris valve springs.
Now, if you had kept that Corvette, it would be worth a bundle! :)
My one buddy has a 1965 Fuel Injected Corvette convertible with both the hard and soft tops that he bought new, low milage, never restored, and in excellent shape, like me, it probably isn't going anywhere until he croaks! Seems like everyone wants the BB L-72's, but those 65 Fuelie's are rare and also bring big bucks.

Big block was awesome to drive but the fuelie was just as quick.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Slept away yesterday morning and look at all I had to catch up on! CPAP hose came off and I got some crummy sleep when that happened! Much better today. Got some quick measurements to take on the battery set up, before and after that little regulator gizmo for the AGM. Things that went wrong when simply changing the battery? Blower quit - R&R the cabin filter! Amps died - burned cable got loose near the catalytic. Battery terminals stripped - replaced with new hardware, and fixed several lug connections. All that's left is the gizmo.

    20230109_153531.jpg

Son and I got after all the front undergarments of Darth Previous Sunday, and 3 hours later, all smoothed out with good fasteners. Even used up the "wrong" parts we got the first time. Some random fun shots.

My old Little Big Red has driver assisted cruise - I have to do everything. But the RAV4 has the modern stuff. We just adjust the sensitivity to the lowest level, and it's just great. Only issue is when you get behind a slightly slower vehicle for a while, and don't notice you slowed down. The "lane assist" feature is not a winner for us; tends to follow too many of the tar seams we have here, and definitely likes to head for every exit on the highway!

Check out Mountain Valley golf course in Barnsville, looks like they might have a senior league.

 As usual, you know your S**T Mike!
Those fuelies were very fast, this guy was #1 in our area, myself, 426 Hemi's, 425 hp 396 Vettes, 425 hp 427 Vettes, 327 350 hp 65 Chevelle's, 396 Chevelle's, 406 405 hp Fords, GTO's, and others, couldn't beat it, I witnessed him run all the mentioned and he came out on top!
I didn't see it, but he told me that one of those nasty 340 Darts challenged him at a stoplight,, wrong move for that dart owner, it wasn't even a race!
    BTW, nice Vette there! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

This took place more than 20 years ago now but I'll sure never forget about it. Sadly the officer who was issued that Harley was later killed by an IED in Afghanistan when his Army Reserve unit got deployed.

Just got some dust in my eyes.....

Yeah, TCU had great odds of a comeback too (1-530, and being the only other team to accomplish it!), but they didn't get the memo. Hats off to Georgia, but it's not a fun way to end the viewing season.
On the other hand, I found immense enjoyment in the Lions Super Bowl on Sunday night!

    Mmmm
    Meter looks familiar.
    I have the 420.
Had to replace my blue point after 30 some years cause it wouldn’t go to 0 resistance anymore.
Just don’t like it defaults to ac volts when you turn it on.

You have a lot of crap hooked to that battery if you didn’t notice.. lol

Not crap! STUFF! Nothing that wasn't on the old terminal - everything has a lug instead of all piled up.
Winch, Ultimate headlight mod, starter wire, fuse box, aux relay box, and amp power. Nothing but the essentials.

Been a good meter so far. I exploded a cheapo, so I had to buy a decent small one.
