Good morning, fellow Porchatonians!! Looks like a little bit ofsnow followed by a warm up and rain for us today. Lynn and I are heading out to do some shopping and spend some time at our local museum...and Chinese food foe lunch.

I'm going to be changing oil in a couple of cars today, plus some other maintenance on the convertible that just got new brakes. It needs its 90K mile love & attention. Dreary weather here so why not just hide out in the garage anyway.

 

I got bored yesterday.
“Black Mamba” needed someone to talk to in my tackle box.
“Mini Mamba” came to mind LOL.

Ok, so not when I posted, but in a bit. Time for breakfast, taking the trash out for tomorrow's pick-up and then out - stopping for coffee first, then to Goodwill to drop off a bunch of stuff. Then on to other things. And, no, Lynn is not awake at 3:30.

Off to PT, for the shoulder, early. I have a 9am appointment, then off to the gyn. Start the staining/weatherproofing process for the bench slats today. Going to whip up some tomato soup for dinner tonight. Goes well with salmon.

Son needs a dish for an upcoming work lunch next Wednesday. Going to do pulled pork sliders for him. Expect pics, LOL

 

If you are subject to pack rat, chipmunk or mouse visitation - a screen / shield for the fresh air intake does wonders. I learned about this cure on TW and made one the next week. Cuts down on the amount of vegetation debris that makes it in there to the filter as well. Worth the effort .........

That lure sure looks nice Mike, "BUT", does it catch fish, and don't keep posting the same pic. of that one bass you caught 20 yrs. ago!
It's amazing that custom colored lures can sometimes work better than any available color.
I had mentioned before that my fishing buddy Jim modifies the belly color on the gold Rapalas that we use, it makes a huge difference in the number of trout that we catch in the river vs the factory gold one. Awhile back I asked him to make up some F-17 (7") Rapalas in a color pattern that wasn't available in that size and was only available for a couple years as a Cabela's exclusive in a smaller size (4 1/2"). The smaller size works well on walleyes, and I wanted the bigger ones for the Oswego River in NY where there are "HOG" walleye of 10-13 lbs. The only problem is that I haven't been up there to get to use them!
The black rooster tail spinner with the silver blade also painted black works way better than the factory one with the silver blade (think hellgrammite), at least those are now available with the black blade. A black jitterbug with the metal lip and hooks painted black also seems to work better at night than the factory one with the metal not painted.
Just a few lure modifications that seem to definitely improve them.
We also "tune" every lure to make sure they run true when we troll, when they run off to the side they won't catch near the amount of fish that a straight running tuned lure will.

 

Hi Tom, with all the work around the house and cooking you do I'm surprised you still do PT. I do wish you the best with heeling but I do enjoy listening and seeing your menus. . Breakfast is my Forte but far from gourmet . Have a good day Sir.

I like that idea Steve, I do have chipmunks and mice, but at least there are no pack rats to worry about!

 

Everyone I make is field tested except for
the three across the US that I didn’t.
I don’t know if this catches fish.
I just made it..
My friends wife wants one of these so I’ll do another one this weekend.

I do not use the same fish I used 20 years ago..
I use his great, great, grandson’s.

 

Those plastic cowl’s don’t like being twisted like that. How’s it fit now?
