Of all days to have an MRI at the Palo Alto VA, my appointment was Tuesday. More trees toppled from the wind than any time previous. I encountered four different road closures on the way home, taking 2 ¾ hours from Palo Alto to Livermore. Not a fun day. I’ve got errands today, but I’m gonna let my fingers do the driving on my cel phone.

Good morning fellow 60+ been away from the group, thanks for the replies about wintering out of the frozen plains. Been recovering from rotator cuff surgery and wanted to be off oxi before commenting. Seems like the older I get the more my body says you are not 20 anymore. Starting to get moving again back into cardiac rehab with shoulder rehab, in 2 weeks I get the annoying wedges off the sling. My neighbor is a great guy helping out with the snow that doesn't seem to let up. We are going on the 2nd longest streak of below 40 degrees in state history. I thought we were experiencing global warming. Not here I guess, another 6'' of snow last night. Neighbor is in Texas for training so I guess I'll have to bundle up and get my little single stage snow blower out. If it was the bigger style I couldn't handle it but it does fine being controlled with 1 arm.

Guys, sorry for the additional work caused by the storms.

Good morning. Finished putting down the ComPro in the yard yesterday but at a cost. I must have strained an upper back muscle because when I woke up at 1:45 this morning it was painful to breath. Putting Biofreeze on the area lessened the pain. I plan on taking it easy today. Maybe stream a book or watch a movie.

My wife and I decided not to eat beef in April. I am interested in knowing if my blood sugar will remain lower and not spike above 130. I have noticed that my blood sugar seems elevated the morning after an evening meal that has beef. After almost a year of Type 2 diabetes I still have a problem understanding my glucose levels. I do know that exercise does keep the glucose level down. For the most part, since mid-January I have been doing 30 minutes on the stationary bike 6 days a week.

    everyone have a pleasant Wednesday.

    Good Morning Porch Folks.

Glad to hear your slowly making progress with your shoulder. Only advice I can give after rehabbing mine is do what they tell you to do in PT and do home exercises as well. Doc told me I would get about 90% mobility back but I have (thanks to the PT program) about what I feel is 99% with no pain. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/snow sufferers. I may be jinxing myself but this has been an astoundingly easy winter in terms of snow. I only used a shovel once and if I'd waited I wouldn't have had to even then. Now that I've said that, we'll get 3 feet of cement next week...

I went down to a restaurant near my old place of work last night to eat 1/2 price wings with some of my old coworkers. Even though I retired early in 2022 I had not actually seen any of them in person since early 2020 due to That Which We Ain't Allowed To Discuss on TW. It was great to see those folks again.

Apparently I was a great excuse for them to get together too. Before TWWAATDoTW, we would all assemble in the office on Tuesdays for face-to-face time; we'd frequently go to lunch together, and some of us always got together for 1/2 price wings after work. Since that time, the old habit had not restarted, and so last night was the first time they had done it in 3 years!

They recounted some pretty wild stories about trying to fill empty seats. It's been nigh on impossible to find good candidates, in spite of it being a very desirable employer with a stable work environment, generous pay and benefits, and a strong belief in maintaining healthy work/life balance. Applicants are falsifying all sorts of information, using ChatGPT to gin up fake credentials, even using AI to spin up answers to questions during online interviews. The craziest one was a fellow they interviewed online and decided to hire. He was slated to start on a Monday. Back story: even though offices have reopened and the official corporate policy is that people are to be in the office 3 days/week, nobody actually shows up that often. Especially on Mondays the office is a literal ghost town. One guy who lives nearby showed up to get the new hire set up. He met him in the nearly empty building, and immediately he thought "I don't think this is the same guy we interviewed!" Turns out it wasn't the same guy, and he was escorted out about an hour later. Pretty wild.

I'm interested in hearing about a followup on this too.

    Morning all:

Tom, you may need to substitute venison for beef, just don't tell the wife! It may not be the beef, but all the good stuff you season it with! :notsure:
I just finished up the last of my deer loin, down to the hamburger now, then hopefully onto walleye fillets,

I'm Interested in the results too. I've never heard of avoiding beef as a method of controlling diabetes. Always thought it was more about carbs. Breads, potatoes, and such.

:rain: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! We got as much drizzle as you could get without calling it rain, all. day. long! Went for bloodwork early, picked us up some breakfast. Took a nap. Ran to WalMart for a return, took a nap. Went to the meet the author deal in the afternoon, and he was good. Mostly, he embellished what you might have read in that bio PDF file. Was entertaining though, and I did get a couple (signed) books to try. Came home, took naps. I'm blaming it on the 3 vials of blood.
More grey and damp again, but warmer. I'll have to plot my putz to get anything done.

I'm not a Dr but I've been struggling with hi-A1C I started seeing a Dr that specializes in vitamin and nutrition he's with our hospital system. He is recommending this product plus exercise and a Mediterranean diet. It's the barberine. He's saying it has been clinically tested to help with blood sugar levels. I've been using it for about 7 months and it has lowered my A1C with exercise and small diet changes from 6 - 5.3. maybe talk to your Dr about it.

I just got physhed. A reply to a Craigslist ad I had placed asked to send a six digit code for Craigslist security. I took the bait and forwarded the code that Google sent. Almost immediately, I saw my error and cut off access. Now it’s a waiting game for the other shoe to drop.
