And not only are the connectors not interchangeable, input locations on vehicles are all over the place, making it difficult to comply with ADA requirements on location of chargers, since the cables are limited to 25', and clear access must be provided at the parking/charging spot. I've jsut discovered these ADA codes, and now must redesign my installations. Damn glad I hadn't already started that part of the project!

That is totally great! It reminds me of the old Midas Muffler ad on TV with the old tightwad driving in with his Model T Ford to get his Midas Muffler replaced for the umteenth time!

I didn't take them to court and knew nothing about it until Sunoco contacted me about the FTC ruling that they had to comply with. I think I bought it in 1976, keep in mind that it was sold as a "LIFETIME" battery, (what is the definition of lifetime battery?) the warranty states it must be for the car it was originally purchased for, the car must be owned by the original purchaser and currently registered and insured, and they will keep replacing batteries. How many people that bought those batteries still own the cars that would be under the warranty, guaranteed not many, but in 2017 when I got the battery that I now need to replace, (yea, I posted about it on here in 2017), Sunoco knew full well about the warranty and sent me a payment for the battery that I had purchased, so the "so lost in time" would be in the last 6 years! <<<<<<
Figure about every 6-7 years they have replaced a battery starting around 1988 ( 1976+6yrs. for the original one, then 1982+6 years for the one- time replacement they tried to get out of the lifetime warranty with, and ever since app. 1988 they have issued a refund for every battery I have purchased for the car, which would be around 6 batteries so far including the first one they replaced, I have the stubs from every check they sent me.
Again, "LIFETIME", what exactly is a lifetime battery warranty????
My buddy has a Jeep Renegade with a "LIFETIME" warranty on the drive train, so far, several computers, the rear, the transmission, the engine, and some other stuff has all been replaced under the warranty, he bought a new Renegade but kept the old one, why, they keep fixing it for free under the "LIFETIME" warranty and will continue to do so, boy did Chrysler make a big mistake putting a "LIFETIME" warranty on that piece of junk!
His new one doesn't have that same warranty, wonder why, maybe lesson learned!!!!

That was probably all in one year!!!

You calling me a tightwad, I represent that, well, maybe I am a little bit! :D
Don't sell a product with a lifetime warranty if you don't really mean lifetime, pretty simple IMO! I think I saw where 218,000 people purchased these batteries because of the warranty, then Sunoco said, NOPE, we will replace the battery one time or give you a one-time refund, forget about your lifetime warranty, apparently that didn't go over well with some people. I thought I was SOOL also, until I received the letter about the FTC mandate, at least in this instance someone was looking out for the consumer.

On a different note, I had mentioned the smoke and smell that is all over the area, people are saying that it is coming from the big fire in Canada. ????

Hey! I never called you a tightwad! That was the old coot in the Midas commercial! He was super proud of his lifetime Midas warrantee and chuckled as he cashed in on it every few years.

If you live in an urban area you might want to have the Mass Airflow Sensor cleaned. This is not hard but it does require a delicate touch as the 3 wires are really thin and to break one means the sensor needs to be replaced. The MAS cleaning is usually part of any competent fuel system cleaning. Even a reputable shop charges a decent amount for a complete cleaning and yes part of the cleaning is dumping an additive into the tank.

Good morning. Going to be a busy day getting ready for our vacation tomorrow.

Best wishes on this day to all you old coots who refreshingly care way more about what’s outside to be seen from the cabin of your machine.

    Morning all:

Looks like it's official, the smoky conditions we are experiencing is coming from the wildfires in Canada, just saw that on a news app. and am now seeing it on the news on the TV.

Just saw this on a Corvette forum, he says that he replaces the battery every 3-4 years, they should be glad that I only get one every 5-6 years!

This plane has had me confused since I started. Found out today, it's just visiting while there is room because the C47 That's All Brother is touring. I could not place it as one of ours, and was confusing it with another. It's a Korea era Navy Basic Trainer. Pilot is a member and trying to sell it. Need a plane?

    20230607_100717.jpg

Did several tours today with one of the main Docents. Ending up doing the last one of the day by myself, and got a good donation to boot. Family was very interested, both teen kids are aspiring pilots, and family is ex-military on both side - they made it easy to be helpful. Son got someone to turn the C47 simulator on for him - I didn't think he'd leave without a parachute!!

    Beautiful aircraft.

Good morning. Time to gas up my son's F150 and take it through emissions inspection. We should be leaving around 3:30 and make Cranberry PA between 8 and 9 tonight.
