G'd morning all. Finally got a couple of days off from "retirement". This handyman work is MUCH busier than I thought. Everyone wants something done but at least it keeps me busy and brings in extra funds. Yesterday I installed some fancy motorized blinds in a house owned by a major grocery chain owner. I can't believe how deluxe this mansion of a house is. A couple of weeks ago I installed a lift in the 7th bay of the garage that takes the top off of their new $125,000 Ford Bronco Raptor.

When trouble happens it happens all at once. My Nest thermostat internal battery died. I tried to replace it but snapped off a connector last night. It's 10+ years old so I got an new one delivered overnight by Amazon. I'll get it installed, and plugged into my smart home stuff. I had to put in a new ball joint in the truck. I have an alignment appointment later today. It sounds like a wheel bearing is starting to go out but the shop can't hear it. Nothing is loose. I'll just wait for it to get louder. I have a couple of brown spots and found 2 broken sprinkler heads in the lawn. I'll fix those today. The bank changed their Quicken interface and so I have to delete and re-setup all my finance accounts with them on the computer. I got a "hey dad" call from my son. You know those are always $100+.

Nothing that can't be solved. Have a good day all.

Great you have some retirement stuff to keep you busy Bryan, but all the other things I'm sure you don't need. I get those calls from my daughter (shes 46) and she still owes me $400. Won't get another cent until it's paid off. Good luck with everything else happening

Quicken: I finally deleted it and used an old-fashioned Excel spreadsheet.

    Debit and expense columns.

Macro function print checks (practice on blank paper, hold up to preprinted checks to ensure everything lines up).

It was a great mind jog setting those up, but I couldn't tell you how I did it.

    Afternoon all:

 I go through that with a handheld GPS, finally get to the setup screen that I want, and then can't remember how the heck I managed to get to it after all the fiddling around I had to do to bring it up!

    Good Morning Porch Folks .
Not much going on in this neck of the woods. Weather looks to be in the low 90's with low humidity so a good day is ahead :D.

    Have a good day folks.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
They are talking rain today and radar is looking like it may actually hit us today! We're so dry here, I have only cut my grass twice since early May. Last week we had a brief shower of about 1/4", they were calling for more than an inch.

Good morning all, have a great day!

Off to the gym and Dr check up. It's always good when you know this guy isn't interested in giving you a digital prostate exam.

Been working on a stupid project that's taking forever. But mostly my fault because I'm taking the time to clean up years of neglect and rust. Found a old wood and wrought iron bench that I'm fixing up.

Morning boys. Summer has arrived here.... hot and humid, so yard work will be messy. Be safe out among'em.

 Sue! When it gets hot, mornings and evenings become my preferred time for yard work, unfortunately late morning or mid day is the best time to start mowing since the grass is no longer wet, sometimes when it's hot and humid, the mowing becomes a 3 day affair! :(

Afternoon Ken, Susan, and Carl :hattip:Was out getting the gas powered pressure washer running, pressure washed around the front door until I ran out of gas so out comes the electric pressure washer to finish the job. So hot I was wringing wet (almost looked like I pressure washed myself) and after putting everything away, it's shower time .
Stay safe with the heat and be careful out there.

:bananadead: Evening Porch Peoples! Yeah, it was hot. Still is. Mowing tomorrow, but I takes so many breaks it's ridiculous! Cannot believe we get more people touring our hangar right after lunch, than in the morning, but we do. Got called out of my room for Docent duty, but actually the guys got the groups together, and got it all covered. So, I went back into my "air conditioned" palace - the wood shop. All our ACs we're struggling today, being surrounded by hangar heat and outside. I was still better off than being next to one of the big doors though! Glad for the improvement!

Yes, the R-2800 project got power washed last Wednesday, and today I was treated to a "clean" junk motor on a brand new stand, in a room with AC! I can even reach the top now, but still need a step to work.

I got all the (reachable) valve covers off again, and boxed up, except for some I'm soaking some clamps on to try and save. After that, it was starting to remove all those black baffle covers and shrouds you see. It's a mystery puzzle, the way it goes together, and no one here has experience with the double! So, go slow, and try not to hurt anything! Got 3/4 of the top baffles off before stopping. What I am calling the cylinder shroud goes most of the way around the cylinder - and they are a mystery. Initial opinion is that they can only be removed/installed when the cylinder itself is completely removed. We shall see! And taking the baffles off just revealed more dirt//junk!

    20230712_153203.jpg

And, Ray and I are both very interested in the motor tag. Someday, we hope to get some history on this donated motor! Not much to work with, but it will be interesting to try!

No mornings here... it's mid - late afternoon until done - usually about 2 ish hours, longer if I bag the clippings. Occasionally either the front or the back is the only part done that day....

I got a new water bottle I can take outside with me, so I don't have to go in to get a drink. On a "good" day, yeah, I look like I showered in my clothes...

Good luck fixing that thing.... Looks like a few pieces are missing.

    evening all
