That note thing is gone the way of the dinosaur. My wife got someone in the '80s like that in a parking lot. It cost us dearly, she left a note. The insurance company ended up being on the hook for $4000. For what she said was a scratch. The insurance company told us under no cercomestance ever leave a note . It opens you up to numerous liabilities. We were dropped because of it. Back then you normally didn't take pictures of the damage. No cell phones. For that much damage the police should have been called back then. Her/ our car had some paint on the bumper. Notes are curtious but this person got more fixed than what was caused in the parking lot. No witnesses, no pictures and a blank check to an insurance company, Is what we were told. He said if it was serious enough to leave a note she should have stayed there till the owner came out or called the police so they could have gotten a hold of the owner of the car.
We grew up when people were honest but managed to find that one guy. Sorry it happened
The grand kid is right it kinda has that duck bill look, good job on that

A little something every chance we get.
:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! It's Thursday, so must be time to mow. I'll let it warm up a little again before I get started...:D Then, finish out that little window insulation project. It's working extremely well.

I think you have finally found a picture of that car that isn't stone sexy in that last one! I do envy that project!

Beautiful wood working job, Bryan! That looks like the "trex" wood.

Carl, & Mike. Actually, the only things I have marked have been the exterior air baffles - and now that I have a box of them, they are mostly the same in the front, and also in the back. Never obvious until they are all off. Things hide under other things!

This poor old thing will only be a static display when done. It's frozen, has smashed heads, and many other parts damaged while some Bobcats played soccer with it in the junkyard. We're probably going to water cut one head open. Wires will salvage what we can, probably use some cleaned up spares for the rest. Some interconnecting pipe we have, some we don't. Most all of the exhaust tubes are gone. What we won't do is be spending monies on it - we have more important things than this.

    That said, I have a lot of fun; if taking 4 hours to get the hadware off a spark plug holder without damaging it is fun. Long term, we're hoping it will look something like this;

Mike the car and shop look great. But most of the master techs I've met are particular about keeping their shops or work areas clean.

Think of like a cheap version of ServPro. "Almost like it never happened"!

    EAST for comparison

    20230727_110455.jpg

WEST before and after the other two pieces.

    20230727_110433.jpg

You can hardly tell a difference from outside. Panel to the right of the door was barely visible anyway. Now, these windows were tinted with some heavy block, with mirror finish outside, then the new blinds were 90% UV, with 5% transmittance. Mr. Sun has proven he is a powerful force.

And, I found a can of white primer with enough left to fog the bottom panel visible on the inside (I didn't have the shades made to go to the floor!)

    20230727_131056.jpg

So, $22.70 in foam, several feet of duct tape to seal edges, and we're done! And it's not rocketing up to 90* in the sunroom late afternoon!

Darn, I am happy about something! ONE degree temp rise in the sunroom. Yes, I adjusted the AC down some, but that was it! And I'm already raising the temp back to normal. Wife was pleased, but "not like it never happened". Sheesh.

We had a ranch dog - part border collie - part Lab - Emmy was her name, and she was not too prone to accepting strangers (better with sheep). Not growly but stand-offish. My dad came to visit after several years away - and he was disappointed she wouldn't come near. He was prone to like and befriend every canine he could find. After several days of her avoiding him - he asked if there was any way I could perform an introduction....... So I gave him a tennis ball and told him to step out back and give it a healthy pitch. Emm had it back in front of him in a flash and it wasn't too many pitches and she would drop it in his hand. They were fast friends forever after.

I recently saw a photograph taken from the air over an African landscape in the 1950s…

A herd of elephants numbering in the thousands.

Can you imagine that? We live inside the bubble of our own experience. We think today is normal. That what is… has been the way it’s always been.

There are 50% less wild animals in the world than at the turn of this century. Half of the animals that there were in the year 2000. Most of the reduced populations, before 2000, were due to habitat loss. Now the animals are mostly crashing because of pesticides and the effects of disruptions in the food chain. Less insects… less birds that feed on insects. Less fish. Less mammals.

And the pace of loss in natural populations is accelerating.

One day one of your grandchildren may look up at the sky and say to their grandchildren, “Oh! Look! There’s a seagull! I haven’t seen one of those in years!”

And they will hand the kid a soylent green biscuit and tell them to remember this day.
