add me to the list of people scorned, my business partner of five years was running two sets of books. I basically paid for his 4 kids catholic school tuition. We dissolved partnership and I walked away with all tools and equipment, he got the recivables

Former coworker was a maintenance guy at an old job, really good at anything mechanical. Did a full rotisserie restoration on an early Firebird when he learned his wife had run up a shit ton of credit card debt on cards with both their names on and had to sell the just finished car to pay it all off. Took him a while to recover but he managed to buy and restore a second car only to discover she'd done it again. This time it was too much and sadly he chose to take his own life as he just couldn't handle it any more. Damn shame.

I had a friend that went through several events with his wife spending money he didn't know about. Other than the spending... they had a good relationship. But she just couldn't seem to control herself. It's tough. If you're married you are automatically responsible for incurred debt regardless of which spouse accumulated the debt. You can have your own money, separated from the marriage and individually owned... but debt-in-common can jeopardize that individually owned money.

I've wondered if my wife learned how to hide her spending through knowing the friends I'm talking about. Would she have known, or even thought of it, if we didn't know these people that were going through these problems over and over? It also occurs to me that she should have learned from their example before she racked up her (and by extension my) debt, and she should have avoided it. But at this time it's all water under the bridge. You can't step in the same river twice.

    Morning all:

Shaking my head at some of the true life stories being posted, shame on what some people do to others.

:annoyed: And for the Pa. hunters on here!!!
Went to get a DMAP permit this morning and had a good chance to get a 2nd 3D doe permit with 466 remaining. The application starts at 8:00 AM, so I got there at 7:15 and was 7th in line, 8:00 comes and no one is there to issue the licenses, WTH, finally at 8:15 the guy shows up. He takes care of the first in line and then shifts over to a register to take the payment, which usually is done by someone else. He then comes back to the computer he's working off of, and after the 2nd guy he announces that 3D is sold out, with that most of the rest of the line left after standing there for the better part of an hour. At least I did get the DMAP permit, but would have liked to get a second 3D doe lic., NDB, but just frustrating how things like this happen.
Going to be interesting next year, I think after the clusterf*** they created, there are going to be people lining up at least 2 hrs. before license sales start, either that or be #50 or more in line, or # 28,000 or more online.

That's pretty much what happened with this guy. He scraped and sacrificed and bailed her out more than once and she just kept going back to her old habits. It's not like I was even really close friends with him but it gutted me when I learned he'd taken his own life because of it. I honestly hadn't even thought much about that situation in a long time but seeing these stories here sparked that memory. Damned shame in every way imaginable.

Good morning, I'm moving the bum body parts from below the waist to above. When I retired and told my friend I would help with his construction business, I said I would do most anything that isn't hard physical like breaking cement, truss framing, AND FLOOR TILE. Well he begged me to do some tiling and now I'm getting some tendinitis on the inside of my left arm. My knees take a beating also even with a cushy pad to kneel on. Today he had me come consult with a preschool that got flooded in the storms last week. The bottom 2 feet of the basement walls have been removed and is almost dry. Now he wants me to drywall, plumbing, electrical, and re-tile the kitchen and bathroom walls. It's a good months worth of work. I don't mind doing the work but don't know if the body is willing anymore. We'll see how I feel at the end of the week when it's suppose to be all de-molded and dry. It's still so much better than the stress of the job I retired from. I don't have to do it if I don't want to.

Have a great day all. I hope everyone is safe.

    That sucks!
The first year I hunted Turkey in 3A, I shot one the first hour of opening day.
Went to buy a 2nd tag and that was a no-go. Didn't know I had to buy it before the season started.:goingcrazy:
Sooo, because I drove 300+ miles with a friend to get to my buddies house, I spent the rest of the week "sight-seeing" as I was "tagged out".

Personally, I think you're being used. Hard no from me for getting that beat up!

:goingcrazy: Arrrrr....... Was working on cleaning up my back bumper when the wife told me she could not make the pool run after cleaning up filter baskets yesterday. TWO and HALF hours later, I finally dislodged some air by bypassing the filter, got it running, and set back to normal. Did notiice a lot more "activity" in the pump basket.... Finished my errands this AM, and get a message that the pool wasn't running - she did what I did, and please check on it. Got home, and running but the basket is never looking like a typhoon normally. What does Mr. Google say? Air leak. So, got my rubber strap wrench and hit every joint. Unscrewed the pressure gauge. Got the hose over there again to fill it up, and drip water looking for the leak. Went to put the basket cover back on, and WHERE is the O-Ring? Checked both trash buckets where she dumps the clean out, checked the Herby-Kerby, checked all over the yard. Finally, pulled the pump basket out, and there at the bottom....

    20230814_131234.jpg

It was a lot more wadded up in the impeller entry, but not damaged. So, new installed with new pool lube, and after another HOUR and a HALF, things are running normally again.

So, it wasn't hot enough. I started on the greenhouse repair I got the parts for this am. Didn't finish. More on that later. ECHO test, and eye exam tomorrow, so I will pick it up.......

When you feel like you have, or have had it bad then you hear something like this.

My dad used to say I used to complain about my shoes till I saw a man with no feet.

when we divided asset of the company, my partner had the nerve to say that the semi tractor trailer was not part of the equipment, I showed it listed as my part in the legal dissolution documents and he was fuming. I said you steal from me for 3 years and complain about me? You didn’t read the documents before you signed them? He then offered 70K for 130K rig. Wow.

Guy is a total squirrel. It showed up, I went and ordered the money (and taxes), and he is a total ass once I ask any questions...
