    Good Morning Everyone! Enjoy your day !

    Trying to figure out what deck coating to use. Not sure if I want RockSolid 6X or Cabot deck restore. Treated lumber 20 years old been just restaining every 3 years since I put it on. Looking for a finish that will last longer. Any experience? Both have some anti slip granules.

    Three years on a horizontal surface is not bad at all. I would use the one you like to apply the best. I liked to use Penofin when I had a deck because there was a paraffin wax in the sealer which helped protect the cut ends of the lumber.

    :pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Off to the eye Doc today to either get my new glasses adjusted, or marked for return. Vision is great, but the variable lens is too low, and I really have to tilt my head up for close. Sunglasses turned out great though!

    Yesterday was truck wiring putz. Last week was one of those, it's not one thing, it's two. In painting the bumper, I noticed one of the original aux. back up LED that came with the bumper was pretty corroded inside - they're $20, get some shiny new ones. While replacing that, I found one of the plate LEDs was bad - they're $7, get some shiny new ones. Well, the wire had gone bad. Clip some ties, but I can't find it that day. Replace the working one, so they will both be new. Somewhere in clipping, the rear camera quit. I had it installed, but the wiring was a little less than professional. So, yesterday;

    20230911_143832.jpg

    Made my own camera harness out of parts, all the LEDs work again, and all buttoned up.

    @95SLE thanks for the info I had never heard of that brand. It appears similar to the Cabot that I have used. Always been a solid color on treated lumber. It's the older kind before AS2 I'm very happy with it. My neighbor has AS2 and I replaced several boards for him. I was surprised with the rot. I'm just frustrated with the the areas of wear some hold the stain well and others not so. Reminds me of a Hereford cow blotchy.

    Good morning all. I hope everyone is doing well. I'm dealing with a bout of golfers elbow which requires 3-6 months of laying off golf and similar movement. I just can't do that especially in the fall when it's the most beautiful. Yesterday I played 18 holes but wore a tight sleeve right below the left elbow. Not using my left arm as much straightened out my drives a ton. I learned a valuable lesson.

    2 weeks ago I had the 2 lower control arms with ball-joints and bushings replaced. I also replaced the LF wheel bearing and center driveline joint. It drives so much better. Now that all those are fixed and not eating tires, I'm going to get new tires today. I need to do some side hustle work to pay for everything. I really can't complain. This is the first major expensive repair in 187,000 miles. I want to get to about 250,000 and it should do it.

    I have to get my spin case fishing stuff for a trip to the Madison river in a couple of weeks. I give up fly-fishing in the fall for #9 rapalas. I will still fly fish lakes in float tubes until the lakes freeze but rapala fishing rivers for aggressive browns and bows sure is fun. I've been doing that for 30 years and you really can out any fly fisherman in the fall.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Any chance you have considered some of the newer coposite decking products? I know they're pricey but ay my age the thought of never having to do the "clean - restore - stain " routine every few years -was too good to resist. I combined my new decking with a new sub surface, and powder coated aluminum rails. I was able to reuse the old support beam which we left in place -so this saved alot of prep. My old deck was 30+ years old redwood decking and rails with treated pine (CCA) sub structure. After 4+ years ,the deck looks as good as the day we installed it. Here is the exact decking we went with Concordia Decking | Fiberon Composite Decking, Railing, Furniture and More (fiberondecking.com). Our warranty on the decking is 50 years

    I don't have a deck, but I have looked into that since it began with "recycled composite". Price is very reasonable these days for what you get - and DON'T get (more work!)

    :anonymous: I don't go out until after 5 pm for yard work :notsure: Started burning some of the wood I have.... and the :rain: has put it out :pout: Oh, well. I didn't put all the wood in the fire - figured I'd save some for another day. Had to dig my ax out to chop up the branch - was a good work out - my saw isn't very sharp and was taking too long on the log. But as darkness fell, I got all but a 10' piece cut up, got the side stuff off it, so just one bare branch left to cut. Nice storm rumbling outside.

    :wave: evening all

    Went to walk my dog this morning and wasn’t feeling right, I told another dog park regular Joe that I felt odd then wham out like a light. Got my first ever ambulance ride and all the tests scans and etc.

    The only thing they could attribute it to was post knee surgery meds.

    I feel the same as I did before the episode. Except for a bruise back from my fall. Luckily I landed on the thick grass.
