I think this qualifies as more than Putzing around. ;)

Susan: Heal quickly. I hate burns, they take a while to stop being painful.

If I have to build a deck today it would be a composite material. The material looks great and is low maintenance. It might take more elbow grease to clean but that is a fair trade off for the staining maintenance.

    Get well quickly.

Good morning. Yesterday flew by but was productive. My hearing aid problem turned out to be a reboot. Simple procedure that I now know how to perform. I was surprised that Costco was out of ear wax buttons for the hearing aids. Picked up some nice looking pork chops and had them for dinner last night along with some broccoli. :broccoli: Today is a music lesson and probably sausage and peppers for dinner.

    Good morning all.

Composite deck materials, I've been told they can be pretty slippery when they're wet. Any truth to that? I'm going to have to do something with my deck within the next couple of years and it's something I've been thinking about.

I have composite decking for years and have not had a problem with it being slick when wet. Yes its pricey but if you account for never having to pressure wash and stain then it averages out over the lifespan. The two draw backs i can see are; it fades in the sun and it is easy to scratch if someone slides something heavy across it.

The sun fading would be the worst drawback for me. My deck is in the sun pretty much all day with very little to no shade and the one tree I do have in that area will need to come down in the future.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!

The decking we chose is surprisingly NOT slippery when wet. I think this is due to the tiny grooves built into the design of the decking itself. the decking will not stain and it is super easy to clean as I have went over it once a year with a very very light power wash -then it really looks like it was just put down. Absolutely nothing hs stained this deck ( even the bit of cooking residue around my gas Weber grill comes right up when something has been spilled there. Also it dries off very quickly after rain, as nothing penetrates the surface. Of course it can be a slight bit slippery when there is ice and snow on it, but what are you doing on a deck with ice and snow. My daughter and my Sis in law went with a different brand from "Tamco/Envision" and it IS more slippery than ours.I might add their decks have held up well also. The "Warm Sienna " color of ours reminds me of finished natural colored (no stain) black walnut boards.

Before we moved down here to AZ I noticed that the National Park Service was in the process of changing out the elevated walkways near / around Old Faithful and the associated geyser fields with composite "lumber". I have wondered how it was holding up. About 20+ years now of sub-zero winters and being walked on by Buffalo and Elk, plus umpteen thousand people visitors - ought to be a considerable test. I know that periodically the critters wandering through would break the pressure treated stuff that they were using before - even when it was fairly new.

Made a liar of me again, it did! Way down at the bottom, off the other half of the firing ring, smashed into the cylinder - there are two more waiting.

It was revenge for what the cutoff and sawzall did to the rod guides and rods that were too damaged to remove the gland nuts. Spark, and glorious noise later....

Good evening, hope your day was productive.

I put a door on a home after the owner took it off to patch it and paint it. She called me a kid.but did the work from watching U Tube videos. Did a hell of a job bondoing on the dented steel door. Hell I've seen worse jobs by guys I worked with who thought they knew what they were doing. But enjoying doing things I'm good at. Plus making a few dollars.

I’m almost back to where I was.

It could have been way worse!

had a telemedicine appointment with my doc and in person on Tuesday.

I built a composite deck at my last home, my only complaints were it got Hades hot, the dogs nails would leave marks when she did zoomies.
