I've been reading that quite a LOT of folks that sign up for Medicare advantage drop that and switch to something else within 5 years. I don't remember seeing a reason. with Tricare don't think I "need" a supplement, but still surfing through all the info out there.

    Here too.

Wife and I have the Advantage supplement and have no complaints... with the insurance. We've had both excellent and bad doctors/surgeons, but not sure that has anything to do with the insurance. We've never been refused any kind of treatment and the co pays are reasonable and only paid to specialists. Otherwise there are no out-of-pockets. Two knees for the wife, two ablations and an ulnar nerve for me, and various whatevers...

They wouldn't pay for physical therapy after the first session, but we knew what we needed to do after that first visit anyways.

    Good morning fellow Porchatonians!!!

Still cleaning up rocks, pebbles and dirt from the storm - gonna take a while. Decided to take out a few cart loads each day before doing other work. Had a horshe shed that I use to keep my plow blades and shooting target in re-skinned/roofed. Lynn and I are painting it now - primed and ready for the first coat of paint today.

Good morning. We are off to the Anne Arundel County Fair this morning at 8am. I have a third cousin showing his sheep at 9am. Going to be a fun morning. We had a great time on the river cruise last night. All three of the performing duos did a great job and there were 3 different types of music played. The Annapolis Songwriters Festival is a wonderful event.

This is the event we attended last night. Both my wife and I like a boat ride of any type.

    Morning all:

Looking at that weather map, it looks like some on here are going to be impacted by the hurricane and will be getting a lot of rain. Hopefully everyone in it's path will batten down the hatches and stay safe! :fingerscrossed:

    Good Morning Porch Folks :hattip:

Following the path of Lee, it looks like as Carl said, it will affect many of the TW family along the Eastern seaboard. :fingerscrossed: they stay safe.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the County Fair Tom. Looks to be good weather:thumbsup:

A little something every chance we get.
:rain::notsure: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! All the rain yesterday missed us entirely, but supposed to have some good stuff this afternoon! It's addicting I tell ya'! Didn't do much yesterday but chat and email - the lighting must have knocked an ATT tower off line, and had no cell. Troubleshooting with Consumer Cellular didn't help, but now I have to reload all my bluetooth, as we took it apart. And it's back this morning, with no one admitting anything happened. Then my new on-line glasses are becoming an argument, because they cut the vari-focus too low. Got them marked for return, but the on-line service is demanding that the Dr. put "segment height" on the RX, where there is no place for it. She won't - she marked the glasses - and rightly points out that is something the optician should do (the mail order). I wrote the measurements for them, not goot enough, and we're at a stalemate until Monday looks like. I knew it was too easy to get them this year!

@ImpulseRed008 , I have a United Health Care Advantage (AARP) plan. The only thing I don't like is the D part for drugs. It's impossible to figure out where you are as you go through the stages, but I finally gave up. Because they use both the LIST price, and your out of pocket, and a mystery deduction in cost (sort of "Good RX" - you can't use discounts with D). I gave up caring this year, because 3 drugs cost enough that I was in the next stage before I could figure it out - and I realized what I paid for all the drugs was about 5X LESS than what I used to pay for coverage when it was deducted from my pay! A & B are good. Pay for specialists, small copay here and there, all with various maximum that isn't much. ONE MAJOR DEAL is that these plans ALL VARY from place to place, and what I get isn't necessarily the same as you. PLUS, you have some Military privileges, I would not get. Like my wife, she has UHC too, but it's a plan through Texas Retired Teachers state pension, and she gets stuff I don't - like free drugs!

Good talk about the different insurance. I have A&B+D not bad for cost about 300 a month with supplemental insurance. So far co pay for specialists 15 bucks and almost everything else is covered better than what I was getting when I was working. My broker has more people on this type then on part c. Mostly because part c is more HMO styled managed care and from what I was told there are some income limitations in our area. That puts it in the unaffordable category for us. But do what is right for you. I highly recommend sitting with a broker. Our gal spent 2 and a quarter hrs with me laying out all the options. I needed my medication list past medical history, surgery's and such health conditions I'm dealing with to let me choose from a short list of good companies.

Nerf bars, bed mat, anything I can think of!
I’m starting off with original Medicare and adding a Medigap (G) and drug plan (D). Hopefully it will be fine. Advantage sounds too much like an HMO to me but I really have no clue. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Good luck getting your glasses fixed so you can see.

My folks had an AARP plan, but no medicine coverage and mom took a bunch of them. They liked what they had. Good you are paying less for your meds.

Was reading on some of them and they do act like HMO's :annoyed:

    thanks

Good morning. Looks like we will have some rain later this afternoon and tonight. Yesterday was a fun day at the fair. Lots to see and do. The fair opened at 9am and the sheep showings started promptly at 9. Theprogram was already under way when we got to the pavilion. Wife and son are off to the songwriter's festival today and I am home with our cat. Smoking up a small pork tenderloin for dinner tonight.
