Morning Chuck, enjoy the ride and be safe. You know a few pictures would gladly be accepted

I was the 4th owner of a '64 Econoline. I bought it in '73. Originally it was a Bell Telephone service van. I don't know who had it next but the girl I bought it from( living the hippie life style) drove it to Oregon and back before I voight it for $200. I finished off the back for camping and off we went. Made the trip to Gatlinberg TN. Then from home in PA up the east coast to Primce Edward Island and home. Drove it many more years after and finally scrapped, when the engine was getting less miles to a quart of oil than a gallon of gas . Missed driving the green (Bell Tel. Green olive drab) monster. Never had, any, issues with the engine cover in the winter :D but it was hell in the summer :bananadead:

LOL! Thanks for all the Econoline Pickup (and van) feedback! I really kind of grew up driving mostly second generation vans - with the engine more forward - for the Music Store and Recording Studio I worked for, and a lot of bands! I did own a first gen (66 I think) Dodge window van, that I got from my boss at work to tow the race car instead of using my Magnum. Honestly, I can't even remember what happened to it! I do remember that in the V8 swap someone did, bolting in the transmission cross member was not part of the work done! I got pretty used to sitting right over the front wheel, and tailgated big trucks WAY too much to save gas! I mean close enough that I would not need to brake exactly when they did! Stoopid kids!

I really wasn't looking, but they are not often seen, they DO offer a little more space behind the seats than an old pickup, and actually, the doggo would LOVE that warm engine cover for his little cushion - with a safety belt anchor of course.

They will probably remain on the interesting, but not now list.

    "I'm fixing a hole..."

Well, not exactly. Sticking my hand in the holes, with backward wrapped tape, to try and get garbage scrapings out of the tanks. Poorly repaired in the past, with old sealants poorly applied, and they have been scraped and cleaned by other before me. But, we've lost mechanics, and our regular guys don't want to do this shit work, because it's not "our" plane. But, I are a skilled volunteer, and if I can clean them out enough to properly seal them, then the real guys can put it back together, and we will get paid around $18K for doing the maintenance work so it can go to another hanger as an "in service" plane. My motor is mad at me for using power tools, and won't pay us, so....

I had shipping tape to start with. Meh. I got some duct tape at lunch, and much better. No pic of the duct tape pick up tho! I didn't get a still inside the tank, but took video. Maybe I will cook one up. ( I got a screen shot of one to show - the white stuff is "sealant" from the past.)

Of course they do! I've got some somewhere, that the wifey used! Dead people don't complain! And you'd be amazed what is available in aviation world.

Dried my hands out with that stuff for a few years, until they took it away from us....

It's really not fit for public consumption! No telling how long we've had ours. And my hangar world is surrounded by that old green zinc chromate primer.... They really do make better paint, but I find few people who will say there's a better MEK!

MEK, isn't that the stuff that bonds plastic?
I think it was plastic. Maybe another material.
Put some on, stick them together, they are permanently bonded.

I haven't looked for it.... just used it at work a long time ago and they wouldn't let us use it after it came out on the "bad" list. Think it was the top 10 hazardous chemicals.... was a long time ago and my mind isn't what it used to be :(

LOL! It's very unpopular with safe folks! Surprisingly, doesn't mean we can't buy it!
