Thanks for the heads up on the procedure. The eye doc told me it was a quick procedure and it takes less time than it takes for the drops to numb the eye . Wish you future good luck with yourretina issue. Sounds painful.

I love getting old Tom . Hope you don't have to have the polish , sounds like it could be quite painful. I'll let you know how I make out.

Thanks for the information Bill. Sounds like you had a rough go with the eyes. Just glad you still have vision in the left eye. As far as I know, the doctor told me the retina's both look good.

Stick around Jim, it will be biting you there soon :rofl:

Couldn't like this post about your Dad Murray. Him asking for his gun brings back the conversation on euthanasia. Some contries have it and I believe there are 2 states here that have it. Brought memories of my Dad who was in the hospital for 3 months dying of cancer. was 90 pounds when he finally passed. It is a difficult time when a loved one is suffering and there is nothing you can do about it.

    Not liking this either.

My dad passed back in 1986 from cancer and I can still recall how near the end we were giving him Morphine every 2 hours under his tongue for pain. I can vividly remember my brother and I being in the room together and glancing at the remaining bottles of Morphine and asking ourselves if it would really be a crime to just administer the rest so he could be at peace and stop suffering. We never did but the thought was definitely in our minds.

My elderly aunt once said something that has stuck with me for years "we are more humane to animals than we are to humans"

Thanks for your thoughts, it was 24 years for dad and almost 42 for Mom both had horrible passing events. Modern medicine is somewhat more humane. It was not posted for symphony, it's more a reminder that getting old isn't easy. My father in law went the way I would like to go. He just dropped dead from a heart event. They said it was instant. Lived every day for 56 years. My parents passing changed me and my out look on death. They both suffered horribly.
I remember when Dad asked for his pistol, I went to the nurses station I asked if the were checking for signs of depression after all he just had his leg taken off to the hip socket. They said he was in great spirits. They asked if I seen something different, so I related his request for the gun. They looked at me stunned. Then you get the next stupid response. You are not going to do that right..... like I said if I had those plans do you think I would be telling you this.

Sounds like we were in the same boat . Did you have a full vitrectomy or just the layering ? I had the surgery for my left eye then laser repair in the right with the “welding” around the retina to help stop future tears .

This is something that would scare the crap out of me, some of this stuff probably wasn't possible 25 yrs ago. Loosing sight would make aging more difficult.

I've done that to my truck too since it's worse in black color. The one thing left and still my eye sore is the chipped paint on all four door handles, it's too small of a job to take to the body shop; yet, I am still debating on when do my laziness subsidies so I can start tackling it before too cold :turtleride:

No surgery for me, just the laser repair. I have considered having the vitrectomy though because of the floaters I have now from the fragments of retina. They can be pretty aggravating under some conditions but other times I hardly notice them. Might be I'm just used to them.

The vitrectomy has it's own risks as well and so far I've decided to just live with the floaters. My doc says just let him know when I'm ready and he'll be happy to do it. Sometimes it seems like he might be a little too eager to cut my eye open.:rofl:

You have fancy painted handles? Mine were that "black plastic" that just get rougher and rougher. I solved it with EBay stick on gloss black plastic kits! Pretty sure it was a $17 investment, and only now after a year of car wash, and no care, is the gloss starting to fade. Still smoother than OEM, and yes the tape holds just fine!
