    Morning all:
Beautiful boats from a long-gone time Murray, as Travlr said, some of those boats were pure works of art.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/winter preppers. We've been staying up late watching the Phillies in the playoffs so my internal clock is all wonky.

I got tired of how slowly the washing machine was filling and finally pulled it out to clean the inlet screens yesterday. Good thing I did because the hot water hose was about double the diameter it should have been! That could have been a disaster. And the cold water inlet was clogged almost solid, which explained a lot too. Drive me nuts because we filter our water. I guess it's stuff from the old copper pipes?

Pretty cool piece! I looked at Ariens when we got our latest machine but they were pushing some strange tech at the time so we went with a Honda. Here's some pics of the two we had before we got the Honda. Both are "classics" in the snowblower realm just like your Ariens.

Crary Bearcat: impeller drive inline with auger drive, chain driven auger/impeller, with a slip clutch for the auger. Weighed about a ton.

Yamaha YS-828: legendary tracked machine from a zillion years ago. I bought it (very heavily) used, just to see if I'd like a tracked machine.

    Good Sunday Morning Folks.

Thanks for posting the boat pictures Murray. Those boats are definitely works of art done by true craftsmen. Thanks again.

I understand where you are coming from Dave @wdb with the internal clock being all wonky. Last Sunday it was a late football game followed by 2 late Phillies games and now thos week it was 2 late baseball games and now a late football game tonight .

Have a good day all and enjoy.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
I think that Scott outboard engine was from earlier than 70-72. My family owned a couple Scott and Scott-Atwater engines in the late 50's and early 60's. We had a 40HP then later a 60HP.
I will research further but I think that motor is from earlier in the 60's, but I could be wrong. We had the motors on "Lone-Star" boats. By the mid 60's we had moved "up" to I-O's (stern drive boats).
Here is a Quote from a history site about the company "In 1958 the new 3 cylinder 60 hp was introduced. The name brand name on the outboards eventually became Scott and Scott-McCulloch. By 1964 all of the motors were McCulloch only. By 1966, McCulloch was looking for a buyer for the outboard motor business. Management had decided to concentrate on their core landscape equipment business. Lacking a buyer, they folded the outboard division in late 1967."

    Runs great and moves snow.
If I had to do it over again, I would find a machine with a metal chute and manual controls.
The joystick setup was problematic and I converted this one to a hand crank. More betterer.
I keep my eyes open for a dead machine with a metal chute that I can retrofit.
(yea I know I need to adjust the chains, lol)

I specifically looked for an older ariens machine as they where the best back in the day. Testament to why it still survives today after 20 or 30 years. I think ill search the serial number and see if i can figure out what year it is.

Ariens serial numbers are not perfect sometimes. You are better off with the engine date..

Yea I gotta pull the starter motor box off of the engine shroud to read the numbers on the tecumseh engine. But based on the paint scheme, graphics and 4 blade impeller it's looking like a 1980. So this would be a 43 year old machine. Let's see the new ones last that long!

My brother is doing the Sacramento Ironman. Not bad at 66!

Looks like the rain has cleared; hopefully, the bike route is dry enough.

Good spirits after that 2.5-mile swim. Video on Google Photos.

Beautiful Chris Craft and Dodge. Can you imaging spending the day cruising in either one out on the Lake or Bay?

The sign above that personal watercraft said it was found in a junkyard as is and only cleaned up. It mentioned that the watercraft talked about the time of its manufacture. It made no reference to the motor on it. Doing some research they may or may not have come with an outboard, leaving you to put your own on.

Speaking of long lasting... (Have I already said something about this?)

The drill bits I've been finding lately are a JOKE. They either won't cut metal... or they shatter like a broken heart. I've tried Bosch, Dewalt, and Milwaukee cobalt bits recently and at $18 a pop to replace broken bits (that have a hard time cutting mild steel) it's getting frustrating.

The last one I used didn't cut one hole before it snapped, using one of the Milwaukee cobalt bits. So I took out the set my dad bought at Kmart for probably less than five bucks probably fifty years ago and finished the job.

It's pretty sad when a cheap fifty year old drill bit will do the job better than anything new and much more expensive.

The cobalt drills cut, but break... and the rest don't cut worth a d**m. You guys have any experience with drill bits that will do what they are supposed to do and not have to be replaced every other cut?

I'm willing to spend some money... but once bit, twice shy, ya know?

That's what we were saying walking around there. Some of the boats had stories by them. A couple of the Dodge's said they had straight 8's but we could only count 6 spark plugs. They had 2 steam powered ones that had a cover or canopy that would have held the heat in . Used for transport of passengers to different resort spots. We thought they would be very hot and with a fire on a wood boat seemed a little less safe.
