    Foggy,frosty morning. Yesterdays snow.
Rio laid out in front of the fire.

Need to suck the vermin from the Tacoma vents, again.
Wished the eng. had thought of where the intakes were and put hardwarecloth over them...

Yep, I remember working at a quick lube shop for a short while when I needed a part-time work situation for my sons benefit. I never seen so many cars come in with air boxes full of dog and cat food or the cabin air filter intakes clogged with it also this time of year. That's a good idea. I think the worst I saw was a customer came in with a horrible smell. We found a barbequed cat that had found warmth on the exhaust manifold. Turned out it was their cat that was missing. To this day I have no clue how it couldn't have gotten off before it expired. There was plenty of room to get away.

Nephew's wedding this afternoon. He's got a good one this time, dodged a bullet when he didn't marry his baby-momma. Will be good to see my other nephew and niece once, and my ex-SIL.

Peppermint spray works well. You can spray around the engine bay and near the truck, if you don't want to spray vents.

Happy Veterans Day to all men and women who are serving or who have served. THANK YOU!

If any of you make it to the Colorado Springs area, this place is WELL worth your time and a lot of fun. In the visitors center, there's more than you can read in just one visit.

    https://www.worldwariiaviation.org/

When I was there, I was fortunate enough to stumble upon a group of men surrounding a 92 year old gentleman who was a WWII air force pilot. Listening to his stories about his adventures and flying in the South Pacific left me speechless. Talk about courage.

Intake is IN the fender. Between inside and out. No access.
I have screen around the fan. This time they plugged the tubes in the dash and around the fan.
It could use some peppermint spray too...LOL

Yeah I found a stick hitting the fan this summer and forgot until I turned on the heater fan the other day. I'll be lucky to not get hantavirus.
I've been lucky and they have not moved into everything. One spark plug wire. And the air cleaner...and the vents. LOL

Neighbor has a new Ranger they moved into the 1st night. It came with screen over the intake by the radiator. His vents were shut. Windows up.
He has had bunnies ride into town and jump off at the PO and garage. LOL

    Afternoon all:

My buddy had a doe at less than 20 yds. this morning, he didn't shoot! We had agreed to buck only where we were at unless the junior hunter and his other grandson were with us to get the deer out of where we were at, the junior hunter wasn't with us and he would have been given the chance at the doe. The grandson that was with us had a 6 pt. buck sneak in behind him where he couldn't get a shot. Darn place is full of rocks that are really hard to walk on, I did drag a deer out of there myself awhile back but no more, the old guys will kill ourselves to get a buck out, but to heck with getting a doe out of there.

As far as wiper blades... try a set of Piaa silicone blades. AMZ. They're expensive. I have a set on the Tacoma and wife's Lexus. They were less expensive way back when, like everything. They came with a squeeze pack of silicone dressing, which I haven't needed to use yet.

I have had PIAA before, and I agree with your assessment. Neither AutoZone or Advance Auto carried them, and I needed a set right away. I have PIAA on the Tacoma, and they are the only blades that I do not have chatter with. PIAA makes some nice auto accessories. I fit a set of PIAA fog lamps in the fog lamp cutouts of the 09 Tacoma. They work great.

Good morning. We are off to Michigan in about a half hour.

Thanks. I had found that one yesterday.

Good morning olds, youngs and the lost.

I got an notice from chewy...Victor dog food recall. Salmonella. Many types of dog & cat food no beuno.
Had just got a new bag for Rio and it was slit open in the box and dried out. Went into the trash before the notice.
I'll try and get a refund.

Second brand of ma & pa shop dog food that has been recalled and was referred to by dobie rescue folks.
Ordered some blue last night on Amazon, cheaper than chewy.

Maybe it was too cozy until it felt the heat then it was too late.
I found one that tucked himself in the radiator fan shroud of a semi; the driver who was sleeping in the cab, woke up to start the engine to warm up early in the morning, that cat never have a chance with the turning diesel engine fan blade.

That's a pretty amazing memorial. And I'm not one to appreciate the over abundance of memorials.

I've posted this before, but edited now to make it shorter. Just think it is appropriate for the Veteran's Day subject.

My wife and I walk graveyards as often as we find them. There are stories there, etched and carved in stone.

In the course of our travels we have found the occasional military burial ground. These places hold a more reverent feeling for us than others. The names and dates reflect tough choices and huge sacrifice in the interest of our nation. The tears and dreams of individuals, but also families, lie unrealized beneath the soil. Whether we feel the wars were more than justified, or not, we hold these fallen to our hearts and thank them for protecting the principles of freedom that this republic was founded on.

And we wonder what the patriots of the past would have to say about the current times and troubles of the present. What would the men at Bataan have to say to us about waterboarding? Would the earliest graves hold opinions about lobbyists and taxation without representation? How would the Irish casualties of WWI have commented on immigration? The dead black heroes of Vietnam, living in the civil rights era, might have something to say about racism in America today.

The thing is... these dead have already spoken. They have laid down their lives, and their futures, to be sacrificed in order that we who are left behind have a better story to tell. Although I'm sure every one of the deceased warriors would gripe if they could about the food, the footwear, and the officers in charge, and might argue about the particulars of any one situation or issue, just as we all do, I am pretty sure they would be proud of their service and the nation they have made.

Sometimes I wonder though... do they shake their heads at the discord? At the hostility? At the mean spirited, I'm-not-gonna-listen, it's my way or the highway, I'm right and you're wrong, entrenched, politicized, polarized, dissention?

You see, when all is over and done with, we citizens have a responsibility too.

If we are to honor the patriots before us, those sons and daughters who made the ultimate sacrifice, then we owe something to them. Not just that we can live our lives in relative harmony, make the American dream real, or have the right to do whatever we choose... but also to listen to others and change our minds when they speak the truth. To agree with reason, logic, and evidence rather than the loudest angry mouth. We, those of us that have never been in harms way, have as great a responsibility to this nation as those lying under the earth with flags on their graves. We have to make it work. We have to make it better. We owe a debt. A great and burdensome debt if we fail, but an easy load if we make our nation and the world better.

If you can, go visit a cemetery. Visit one with flags flying, holding the hand of someone you love. And think about the thoughts that are silenced beneath the grass.
