Good Morning Everyone, stay warm and safe. We're finally getting some high above 0 after a week of sub 0 temps. We just got spoiled with this warmer than average winter. I've been surprised that we have had the same if not warmer temps as some of you guys further south. It must be brutal for you.

And that's why she's getting grief, because the boss / owner is feeling butt hurt because it isn't easy to replace good employees. Employees that can do the job are great and the hardest to replace without glitches. I guess if I were her I would go in and have a chat, I'm giving you 6 weeks too get my replacement up to speed, any more grief I'm done the 29th. And leave the office with no more discussion.

I have a jaded outlook on "your end of employment - here". In one circumstance I was told to brace for a change - new owners (bought by a 100 year competitor) moving in. So you are staring at the unknown (but suspicious). The second was goodbye, today is your last day we are downsizing. It has caused me to be of the opinion that when you are set to go - just pack up and go.

Few employers / businesses handle this in a way that suits anyone but them. There is no incentive for them to be your friend - dollars and cents will be their guide. They have in many instances given you both knowledge and experience - they can't get it back, so there's that. Use it for your benefit.

In neither circumstance did I do any damage before leaving or on the way out ( you gotta have your own rules, right?) - but later, I became a formidable competitor they regretted immensely - to the tune of millions lost in revenue.

    Morning all:

Or just a matter of protocol, my fishing buddy Jim recently applied for a position at another school and asked me to fill out a recommendation, which I did.
I would consider him to be about as good as it gets, and the job was similar to what he was already doing, midlevel supervision in charge of the janitors and grounds of the school and the job he was applying for involved a decent pay raise.
I had mentioned it to him about the possibility that someone with an "IN" might get the job no matter how good his recommendations were, he didn't get the job for whatever reason, maybe I was right! :notsure:

A little something every chance we get.
:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Whopping 13* when I got up, and up to 23* now. Slow climb to maybe 43*, which means I can probably put the pool valve together this afternoon. I have a short piece of heat trace that is supposed to arrive tomorrow, but after today, we don't stay below freezing for 24+ hours.
Dropped the truck off for coating, and they pointed all the tiny defects...which I knew were there, and will mostly disappear in all the polishing. I knew what I paid for, so it's all good. Will be a shiny, protected, all one color, 10' truck by Friday.
    Stay warm everybody!

And, yeah, @jwctaco , like everyone says 2 weeks. Anything more is playing very nice, and should be rewarded, not jerked around.

….and that’s what the 6 weeks should be used for, she can help forge relationships between her replacement and the customer base.

Regarding references, I was told by one of our HR reps that large(ish) companies can only confirm period of employment.

As for just walking off the job, I agree there is little or no loyalty shown to employees and that is a two-way street but it’s generally not a good idea to burn your bridges.

@GREENBIRD56 no doubt you’ve heard “living well is the best revenge”

So true, it was explained to me when I was younger look at employment as a simple act no different then you going to buy a loaf a bread. We have a tendency to think we are far more valuable than the wages we earn. The employer is buying your time for what he thinks it is worth to him. But not what he thinks you are worth. The only difference is the loaf of bread doesn't have a face and feelings. You should never damage property or hurt anyone over termination and they only deserve proper notice apon state and federal implement guide lines to get what you are owed.

The white folks that came before us found most of the easily found hoards. Lots of sherds around where natives worked on them, but most tips are in collections somewhere by now. Still, I've found a few. Mostly off trails and in the middle of nowhere. Accidents more than intentional looking. My best find was a tooth that was drilled to be strung as a bead.

Pictographs & Petroglyphs are easier to find for me than arrowheads

Fun to try to decypher them....what were they thinkin' ?

Bighorn Sheep was a common subject on panels

For a reason......they still thrive locally

Pic 4....'shot' (with Sony) this guy 20 minutes before he gave the perfect pose

That is a beautiful animal. I've never been that close to one. Only ones from binoculars.
