Thanks to all who took the time to read my story. I found an old laptop that had pictures from every year from 2001 through 2011 and a video of my dad’s funeral service in 2011. Just seeing my parents decline over that time and reliving my dad’s funeral service brought a lot of this to the surface again. It happens I guess but now it’s time to get my head out of my ass and start living in the present again.

Nice! My BIL, RIP, had a 67 Dodge coronet convertible with a hemi. Nice show car and won a lot of trophies. He drove it on Sundays if it was nice outside.

@Kevins60 So many of us in this thread have had the same experiences. One of the hardest things I ever had to do was walk out of the assisted living home the first time after placing my dad in the facility.

Good morning. Today will be interesting. Going to an Indian grocery store with my niece's husband. I know I want to buy some lentils but beyond that I do not have a clue.

A beautiful snow covered morning here! Probably most of it will be soaked in within 2-3 days. Sunny today, so I don’t plan to shovel much. Have to workout today, because the city will be here tomorrow during my usual workout time to replace our water meter (guess we’re not using enough precious water!)
Everyone make this a special day!

Tom we have an ethnic market that was just put up. I haven't been in it, but several people who had small little grocery stores went in on it. Indian, Asian and middle eastern. They seem quiet busy. From what I hear if you want spices it's the place to go.

HAHA every time it sprinkles a little I pull it in the garage and towel it off. I only wind up washing it a couple times a year. Wife has rolled her eyes so many times by now she probably has a good visual of her brain. :p

It's been "snaining" all weekend, was worried for a while I'd have to get behind that $%6$#%^ shovel again. Nope! Off to cook bacon. Because, you know, bacon.

Happy Sunday porch peeps. Stormy day here in Northern California. An atmospheric river storm is coming to town. Heavy rains, several inches and high winds with gusts over 50 mph. The Sierras which are only an hour east from us are expecting several feet of snow, high winds and white out conditions. HWY 50 and 80 will go from chain requirements to closed highways. I know it seems strange but I actually like inclement weather. I think it’s my Norwegian Viking heritage. My favorite hunting days are cold windy nasty days. I even like driving in it until you cant. I draw the line at fog, I’ll do anything to avoid driving in fog. I have storm and “fog” stories. If duck season hadn’t closed I’d be out there today. Guess I’ll putter around the garage and maybe watch a movie this afternoon.
Anyone seen the movie Oppenheimer? We’re thinking of watching that, heard it’s good.

Too funny. I don’t take mine out in the rain or if the streets are wet because it gets dirty. Do you get the eye-roll with the sigh? My wife is not a fan of the truck and swears I break stuff on it just so I can go out and “play” in the garage. In the 5 years I’ve owned it she’s been in it exactly 4 times. The day I bought it she came out, sat in the passenger seat, looked around did the eye roll (with sigh) and walked away muttering something about it being “so freaking red”. Second time was when the key fob battery died for her Acura and I drove her to a doctors appointment in the Tacoma. 3rd time was when she helped me bleed the brakes (don’t know it that counts since we never left the garage) and the last time was when we pulled a UHaul trailer full of furniture up to Ocala. Now I have to say she’s payed a couple of compliments in that time. On the way back from the doctor’s appointment she commented that I did a good job on the new head unit and she said the AC worked well on the trip to Ocala.

:worthless: Good Afternoon Porch Pals & Sue! Off to Pistons at the Park this morning. Left my wallet, but remembered at the end of the street. Starts at 8, was there at 8:06 - "visitor lot" full already, line to get a "show" parking. EVERYone out to enjoy a sunny, if windy, morning car show. Place was packed; the drives were always full of moving cars, and the cars were surround by people. Made for a more difficult time getting some shots. Heck, was so crowded, only most of the Vettes got their normal group parking. Anyway, enough shots for a couple posts, so off we go!

As always, great stuff. As I have looked. lo these many months, at the of new and old, I find I like the old ('60s and back) and have little appreciation for the newer. Today I realized why. I have no fun memories to associate with any of the newer cars. I was off to get serious in school, work, 55 hour weeks, marriage, move from old friends - and cars became transportation. .

Peace and my deepest condolences to you my friend. We are only allowed one time here. Please release that guilt and realize your place after this life. She is gone...but if you awake tomorrow with lungs full, be blessed and enjoy ... and remember who placed the breaths in your lungs.

Unless I get to a specific show, there are always going to be more "new" than "old". I may not have memories of the newer, but I didn't get to own "nice versions" of my 1953 Chevy Sedan Delivery, my 54 F-100, or far lesser cars I went through. I did get to drive my friends 67 Cougar 289, and 67 Camaro 327 - both sticks. And one time at a concert we worked, I was instructed that I was not driving the company sound system truck home - I was to take the promoters brand new 240Z back to Kalamazoo. I made sure to go on all the back road, the wrongest way I could to accomplish!

But, I remember in the 90's - Chrysler threw this thing called a Viper at us. All I could do was read about it - but my gosh - NOTHING was like that. Freaking V12 American car? Impossible to drive? Who freaking cares!! Then, there was a poster in magazines shortly following with the PT Cruiser, the Prowler....were they great? But someone was trying to tempt us. Then Ford brough the dang GT40 back, and just didn't make posters - they didn't need to! Then, I do have another poster in the garage for the first Hemi in the Challenger. Holy crap. Hemi 4 doors? What is this, 1957?

I got more magazines, other than Hot Rod - sadly most are gone. In the Supercar era, which few could afford, I learned still more "OMG you can do THAT?" Up until I started going to these car shows, I saw very few. They are so common at the San Antonio Cars & Coffee (regularly 2 dozen or more!), that they barely raise an eybrow as I pass.

And that, kind of, is why you get a wide assortment of what I find, that piques my eye through the crowds. And I probably miss more than I catch! So, if not memories, you can still appreciate things for what they are. And for some of them, you have to appreciate what the owner has brought to share!

@Oldie2007 Great pictures as usual. Enjoyed them this morning.

Good morning. Went to two markets yesterday. The second one was a combination Asian and Indian supermarket. It was huge, bigger than a mega supermarket, probably as bigger than a Costco. There was a fresh seafood market in the store too, there were two employees scaling fish and filleting them. Picked up an extra piece of salmon for dinner. Yesterday were salmon fillets with a ginger and garlic paste for dinner.
