Good morning all. We went to bed at the end of the 3rd quarter. Kind of boring game to that point. Guess they saved all the excitement for the end.

Good morning all. I went to bed after halftime. Because...
STARTING A NEW JOB TODAY!!! Industrial sales. A career I got into back in '83 by emptying trash cans, filling the water cooler, delivering parts...etc. at the age of 21 I already had two children and needed a better paycheck. That job paid me $0.50 / hour more than the one I had as a survey crew chainman.
One of the perks in my new position? Being able to use my Tacoma and getting an allowance for it.

Morning all. Heading home today to rethink the house hunting strategy. Pretty much ruled out new construction what with the way they’re building new subdivisions in SW Ocala with a 5’ setback from the property lines. You better be fond of your neighbors because you’re going to be seeing them a lot. So now this week’s tasks will be tackling the attic. We have to get that cleaned out and there’s boxes of crap up there that we stored 22 years ago and haven’t needed so I’m guessing a trip or two to the dump will be in order. We better get this next move right because the next time I move out of a house it’s going to be feet first on a gurney.

We're house hunting as well, but in a heavily populated area outside of DC; anything not physically attached to the units next to it dials the price up a few hundred-grand, so a 5' setback would be a luxury we simply don't want to afford. When we were in our 30s and 40s being "house poor" was something we were okay with, but now, hell no, downsize and use the cash to travel. The prices are high enough where we're looking even attached townhomes are pushing the budget, so it is looking more an more like we're going to opt for a condo (but a very-very nice one). :)

Another outstanding February day…sunny and close to 50*!
Kettlebell day, then it should be warm enough to work in the garage with the doors open! Too muddy outside after Saturday’s snow.
    Everyone have a great day!

It would be OK if the houses were designed for the lot and conditions. Our first house here in FL was in something called a zero lot-line subdivision. All the homes backed up to ponds or conservation areas so no backyard neighbors and there were no windows on the sides of the house facing the neighbors. Each house had an atrium so it didn’t feel like we were living in a cave. But what they’re doing here is just wrong, We looked at one house on Saturday where I stood in the family room and watched the neighbor’s TV.

    Morning all:

Well the Chiefs won, heck of a game between two excellent teams.

Waiting for the storm to hit, according to the forecast I may need to break out the snowblower or maybe not! As usual they are all over the place on the amount of snow we are supposed to get. :notsure:

:pccoffee: Good morning Porch Pals & Sue! Chilly start, and not a lot of warm up for the day. But the sun will be out, so probably grab a sweatshirt, and clean up the yard some. Enjoy your week!

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/house seekers. Strange as it sounds I think I am going to wash a couple of cars today, just before tonight's rain/snow/whatever storm. They're both pretty filthy, and it's currently warm(ish) and sunny.

This one did not. But I did watch a bunch of the commercials this morning, ranked best to worst by TV critics...

...so I could only watch the good ones. ;)

I enjoyed the game; heart stressor! I had it at 24-21 San Francisco.

One of my old-time cycling and car rally buddies passed away last week at 66. He had been in remission for a few years, but the big C came back and got him.

    Two random memories:

Steve put the bikes on the back of my Mazda RX-2, and we headed off to a crazy 200-mile bike ride in Alpine County (Northern California). I warned him about the exhaust, thinking we should have removed the front wheels. His response was, "Plenty of room, it's fine." About an hour into the drive, I heard a boom. Five minutes later, another boom. Due to exhaust heat, we managed to blow out both front tires! Moral Mazda Rotaries have very hot exhaust!

Another time, we were heading down Interstate 5. He's driving his Honda Civic 1300. I'm in the passenger seat, leg cramps up, so I put my foot on the firewall to stretch. It locked up the brakes, sending his Honda skidding on a dark, rainy night. Thankfully, there was no traffic. The master cylinder was located on the right side of the car; my leg stretch managed to press down the bar that connected the pedal (on the left) to the master cylinder (on the right). Oops. Japanese engineers didn't anticipate a size of 14 feet!

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.

Great stories and memories. Sounds like he lived a full life and was a true friend. RIP Steve.

    Good morning fellow Porchatonians!!!

Waiting on the snow to start - a few inches or Snowmageddon depending on which weather forecaster is guessing.

Good morning! I’ve been away from home so much over the past several months, it’s nice to wake up and enjoy “home” and the quiet of a morning after a walk and a cup of great home brewed coffee!
Hope your morning is a wonderful one.

Where area around DC are you looking at for relocation?

Good morning. My cousins Condo is now livable. Me, my wife and my sister helped get most of the rest of the boxes unpacked and all the trash removed. Verizon was there and installed the Wi-Fi and the Set Top Boxes. Connected all the phones, TV's, tablets, and PC to Wi-Fi. The new STB from Verizon are so small and are packed with technology. I need to look at converting my STB's. Hope the snow is not too bad in the northeast.
