I didn't stay outside the whole time and with my trees, now that they have leafed out, block a lot of sunshine. I had to go to the middle of the yard to see the sun. Still neat to see even if we didn't get "full totality" again.

My wife and I were on our way to Texas sometime in '17 or '18 when there was an eclipse of some kind...that one was dark. I was expecting something like that this time. Nope.

Aug 21, 17 we had complete darkness here for a few minutes. the office shut down and everyone went outside and watched (with glasses of course). That was pretty neat to see. I wasn't sure what to expect here today.

I had to look up the day - I remembered the August '17, but not the day :anonymous:

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Took my son to see the eclipse. The plan was to watch from Indy. We get to just south of O'hare on I294 and traffic turns to crap, not surprised. Get to I80/I294, traffic sucks...not surprised, figure it will thin out a bit once we get on I65. Nope. In fact, it was worse. We covered 22 miles in 1 1/4 hours! Two lanes of creep for as long as you could see.

As we're creeping along, I'm calculating how far we might make it. We bailed off the highway in Remington, about 60 miles from the planned destination. We still had about 99% coverage, so not a complete bust. Forecast was for about 35-45% cloud cover...not a cloud!

One of the best things I ever did was to get rid of all my Credit Cards. Only use cash or a Debit Card now.
Paid off our house over 10 years ago in preparation for retirement. Wife still works part time as a Hospital Social Worker after retiring as a Social Worker for the County 25 years.
We are now able to stash money every month and travel in our RV and otherwise as we wish. All vehicles are paid off. We don't buy crap to clutter our lives. Still trying to clear out my garage from all the needless stuff I bought over the years. When things break around the house I try and first fix myself before calling a plumber or whatever.
Don't have the latest Cell Phones or tattoos. We try and keep it simple.

There was a grayish kinda light and the crickets started to get noisy but
I looked at it once, maybe twice through my welding helmet but, I had more interesting things to do..

The eclipse was interesting. Watched it on TV. Too many trees to see it unobstructed here, but a local weather guy set up a remote from Indian Lake, maybe 50 miles north. Big crowd, and a total eclipse. They were glad to have the business, after recent tornados went through. Finally something worthwhile on TV.

    Good morning all. :pccoffee:

We had about 92-95% totality here. Weirdest thing was all of the birds that had been chirping and noisy went dead silent during it.

I had replaced a GFI outlet in the panel earlier in the morning. The breaker was tripping when my niece powered up the blender. The outlet is the only outlet on the circuit. Replaced the breaker and the problem was solved. My sister had a spare GFI outlet, so I installed it in the remodeled bathroom. That was a no brainer, did not cost any additional money.

Federalsburg is on the other side of the bay bridge, almost to Delaware. The closest gas location to me that sells the ethanol free gas is in Rising Sun, MD up close to the PA line.

Good morning. Going to put down weed block fabric in the garden and plant 4 radish seeds, LOL. Planted a seed starter kit for four different types of pepper plants yesterday. A little late but one of the pepper plant seed packs arrived a week late. When is Amazon prime not overnight or 2-day delivery, when you really need it.

That's the way to be. My wife let her social work license expire when she turned 70. It was kinda hard since she worked hard to get it. The commitment to maintain contact hrs when she wasn't planning to work anymore didn't make sense. Her x coworkers are all working for the state now after she retired. The state took over for all the counties and everyone can't wait to retire since it happened.

Here in the Rockies we may have gotten 50-60% coverage. Still pretty interesting and the world didn’t end…yet!
Spending time outside today ( if the winds approve of it!). Need to get some more vege seeds in the ground and do some more prepping of the cutting garden. If I can get hold of the dairyman, I need to pick up a load of his aged compost. Man my plants love that aged dairy compost!
Looks like it’s going to be a lovely day outside today! Get out there and get your vitamin D! Make it a grand day what ever you do!

We drove into western Nevada across the state on highway 50 last Tuesday, and then returned yesterday, Monday... and noticed that fuel prices seemed oddly dependent on proximity to the California border. Every town we hit, gas was more expensive the further west we traveled. So the large cities in the western part of the state were quite a bit higher than the little, very remote towns. I remember when it was just the opposite. Remote places would have higher prices and the big towns would have gas wars and lower prices. What's changed?

As for the eclipse... we had one last year with a "ring of fire", and now it sounds like the entire event has been forgotten. We didn't notice the eclipse yesterday, but the weather was spectacular with giant storms over mountain ranges as we drove toward them, snow capped peaks, and very clear air so the vistas were spectacular.

Good Morning everyone have a great day.

It was cloudy here yesterday the eclipse seemed like a really dark thunderstorm came over. But the rain had stopped.

You still got some snow left yet by the looks of it. That didn't take long for it to melt.
