Yes, this (or a smaller pipe on the vent - which I can't find)

Yes, the crimped part is what fits in the house, but once the straight part starts to go in, it stops (about an inch or so away from being all the way in)

Maybe a talk with your local heating contractor can help you find a solution. Pictures with something to give them a size reference would help. Heating sheet metal guys are wizards with what they can do.

Sue... sounds like you'll need to return the one you have, shop for a new one that will fit all the way in. They evidently make them. Save making the hole bigger as an absolute last resort.

I hate it when the song you sing is Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to Lowes I go. Are you able to see into the existing pipe to see what the blockage actually is? Any chance you might have to replace the section of the line through the exterior wall? For the record, I dislike working on dryer exhaust vent tube line.

Good morning. Happy Friday to everyone. Going to try a few new, and different, dishes for dinner tonight.

Neither would I. I would run a new exhaust vent line first.

Ugh! Sue it sounds like you are saying the pipe on the new part is not crimped far enough for full insertion. Ducting guys have a crimping tool for crimping ducting pipe., still it would have to be trimmed at least the inch shorter.
Another option might be to add a 1” or maybe 2” framework outside to mount the outlet to. This would extend it to make up for the length needed.
Option 3 cut the new outlet ducting off until it just butts up to the old. Shouldn’t catch any more lint than the crimped end sticking inside the pvc I wouldn’t think.
Best of luck coming up with a solution!

Beautiful morning here! Only 5* above normal!
    Kettlebell day!

    Morning all:

Doubt if this will be of any help Sue, but are there any places in your area that make up stove pipes, or like Rich mentioned, a sheet metal shop

On stove pipes, that crimp acts as a reducer that allows pipes of equal size to fit together, it almost sounds like the smaller size crimp part isn't long enough and only allows the vent to go in so far before the rest of the pipe goes back to full size which is causing it to bind up.
Either place mentioned should be able to modify that short pipe to fit, shouldn't need to do that, but if you don't want to slightly enlarge the hole in the house which may not solve the problem, or look around for another one that may fit, it would be an option.
We "HAD" a guy in the area who made up stove pipes starting from sheet metal, he could make them any size and had a machine that put the crimp on them, that guy could fix you up, those guys are few and far between anymore but just thought I would mention it.
You did state that the straight part of the pipe does fit in the hole in the house but then stops, my guess would be that the crimped part isn't long enough and that's what won't allow it to go any further, if that's the case, cutting off some of the crimped part won't solve the problem.
Now that I got you confused, at least give the last sentence a thought! :)

Find a 1" thick piece of wood and cut it the size of the outer, square flange, then put a hole in it that the inner pipe will fit through. A little caulking once it's mounted to make it weathertight. A spacer between the house and the flange.

:pccoffee: Good morning Porch Pals & Sue! Wheels and tires sold, going to mow and trim, and it will be hot again. That's it from down here! TAB got back too late for me to hang out and watch. That's her fourth trip to Europe and back. Not bad for 80 years old.

@ImpulseRed008 , based on what I've read, I have to say that the spacer seems the best idea. Short of getting the metal reworked, that seems the best idea that doesn't require modifying your pipe.

Oh yea. I thought I'd make the parking lot, but I just missed.

Over the next 10 days they are predicting a heat wave here, every day over 100 and up to 110. Guess it could be worse, in Death Valley they are expecting 129. Don’t think we’ll be visiting there in the near future. Even up in the sierras above 5000’ they are predicting mid to high 90’s.
We plan to use the pool in the mornings and then hole up in the house the rest of the day. Just hoping we don’t have power failures or brown outs. I do have a generator that I can keep the refrigerator, some lights and a fan going.
I hope if we have blackouts/brownouts I don’t see any people plugged in charging their electric cars (there are a lot of them in California) cause it’s going to get ugly. Stay cool all.
