I’ve been using a walk behind string trimmer the last couple years where I can on my acre, only doing a 1/3 maybe. Easier on the back than a Stihl gas trimmer. Although I need to research a auto feed gas trimmer. A pain to stop every 10-15 minutes or less to replace the line if I hit fencing or too many immovable objects. The line for the walk behind is some dang tough stuff, can last an hour, taking out some tough weeds and taking bark off tree roots.

In my younger days I was a good “shade tree” mechanic. That was mostly the days of American V8’s, muscle car, carbureted engines, few electronics. I did all my maintenance, rebuilt engines, built muscle cars, replaced every part that could be replaced etc. only thing I didnt get into was automatic transmissions. I replaced them but never repaired them. One day when I as 40 years old I was changing oil on my wife’s car. Somehow the oil missed the drain can , went all over the driveway and all over me. I layed under the car for a while thinking why in the hell am I doing this shit. I had a great career, had been promoted into upper management, was making great $$$, had numerous hobbies that kept me quite busy. I could easily pa6 to have this stuff done. Why am I under this car smeared with dirty oil when I could and should be fishing, hunting, boating, watching sports, reading books etc. Why in the hell am I here. Working on cars had stopped being an enjoyable experience for me. It was just a time consuming chore. So over the next year or two I phased out all my car repair and car maintenance activities

The only thing I do now a days is install new windshield blades once a year and I change out the batteries when necessary.
I opened the hood of my wife’s Highlander today. Took a good look at the engine compartment and just said Oh Shit. Called Toyota and made an appointment for the 25000 mile maintenance.
I get that a lot of guys (and some women) like working on their vehicles and saving $$$ doing the work themselves and I say power to you all. But me, I’d rather watch paint dry, drink a cold beer, go fishing, swim in the pool, or contemplate Einstein’s theory of relativity, or maybe take an afternoon nap.
I still carry some tools in my truck so I could fix/repair some things if the situation presented itself. If I had a classic muscle car like Marines Camaro I could get into working on that. But for now I’m gonna take a nap.:)

    I can relate to that.
I used to be upbeat for the mods I wanted and pursuing as soon as I could. I now adopted the procrastination nature, even the oil change can be delayed due to my
    unknown reasons

    Evening all:

    Sue!

I hear you Ken, guess for me it's more like old habits don't die easily! Yea, it's becoming more of a PITB as I get older, but so is everything else, like the mowing and trimming I need to do, hate to even ask how much it would cost for a lawn service to mow and trim for app. 8 hours total!

If I can do it from the TOP, it's under consideration. If I need to be on the creeper or ground - you know - I have some younger friends with shops that need income!

You know, Paris in the rain was kind of cool. It will be all polished up this evening. And nothing happier than an Olympian smile.

California is on fire. One of our wild fires in Northern California named the Park fire, so far has burned 239000 acres, covers 3 counties - Shasta, Butte and Tehama counties. It’s increasing and spreading 4000 to 5000 acres an hour. Much of it is in steep somewhat inaccessible terrain. Many areas have been given evacuation orders. That is only one of several cali wild fires.
Duane I know you are in a fairly high fire risk area. I wish you luck, my prayers are with you. Be safe my friend.

    Morning
    Summery of my adventure yesterday.

    Here we go

    Mmmmmmm
    What’s wrong with this picture
Was suppose to be a little maintenance

    Soooooo
Helps stopping if you have all the brakes you’re suppose to have..

    Clean the frame
    Fluid Film the undercarriage.
Clean and adjust the rear brakes.
    Replace diff fluid.
Replace the front pads and rotors

    Bleed the brakes.
    Rotate tires.
    I’m beat……
I just threw everything into the garage last night. I’ll tackle the cleaning this morning.
Brakes are awesome though. I have my stopping power back. Helps when you’re towing your boat.
I knew there was an issue and at first I thought the rears had to be adjusted. I hadn’t done it in two years.
Realized that wasn't the case real quick.

Heat index climbed into the mid/upper 90’s.
    Hottttttt.

Being a Toyota Master Tech does have its advantages. Roughly figured I saved over a $2,000 doing it myself. Plus, I knew it was right. LOL
Got to use my stored fancy brake tools again.
I paid for it in other ways.
    Wasn’t fun.
Didn’t have to go to the gym anyways.
    I was wiped out..

Good morning, peoples. Better day firming up, wife feeling better after yesterday doctor visit, two prescriptions, and some needed rest. I've taken over her daily routine. Have to watch her like a hawk, or she'll be up doing something when she should be resting. sfsg

Only when you can find the shop that can do the job with your satisfaction! There are too many jobbers out there that are mediocre.

    Morning all:

 Holy crap Mike, that's some major brake pad damage there, what the heck are they Putting on the roads up there.
Be glad you're young yet, when you get to be my age that will be at least a 2-3 day project!
Just thinking, maybe the dealership you worked for could at least let you use one of their lifts as part of your retirement package!!

Good news that your wife is feeling better Mark,
