Good morning all! First day in forever it has been cool enough here to consider coffee outside ...... but now the monsoon rains have raised up a crop of bugs. I hope the 100's are gone for awhile - our patio gets so hot the concrete "radiates" all night long.

We have a gal that walks (runs with) the "girls" on week days (my knee can't hack it anymore) - she has had a nasty sprain from jogging (in the dark) and the pups are absolutely put out over the lack of attention! She has recovered enough to come by this AM and actually walk with them - they would cheer if they could.

The effort it took to add the "snake screen" around the back has worked this year and no sidewinders so far. Turned out to be less obtrusive than I thought. Main problem has turned out to be how to make the walled / fenced enclosure drain when we get 2 inches of rain in 20 minutes like last week.

Good late morning. Verizon Technician just left after installing a temporary cable to replace the cut FIOS cable into the home. Interesting day yesterday without FIOS service.

I’ve seen those results before. Had it in 2022, was like a bad cold for a week. Got it again a couple weeks ago. Worse this time symptoms a little more severe, and lasted a little longer. Symptoms have mostly resolved, current tests are negative, but I (and spouse) am still feeling fatigued and tired. The first time I had it I took paxlovid which definitely reduced the symptoms and shortened the duration. Chose not to take paxlovid this time. COVID sucks. Wish you a speedy recovery.

Hi gang, applied for a no down loan on a Polaris ATV. Looks like I can get a model that is one step up from what I thought I would be able to get, so a little stoked over that. Has a front brush guard and the electronic power steering which may be nice. Unfortunately won’t arrive for a week. Like a week of Christmas Eves.
State Farm didn’t cancel my home owners insurance, just went up a little, may have mentioned that already. I make that payment early Sept. With no down on the ATV, I can always double up payments to save interest. We played with either a low interest loan or $1,000 rebate which applied to the price, so went with the immediate rebate.
I need to come up with a system to spare the tailgate when loading up the new 800 lb. monster, reading threads, the tailgate is only good for 400 lbs. Even if halving that like a pulley would, still puts a little over 400 on the tailgate, then add in my weight to ride the ATV onto and off the truck. May not transport the thing much. The thread I read, mentioned to remove the tailgate, length of the ATV comes into play then with the wheels maybe barely in the bed, close to the space between the bed and lowered tailgate.

Duane, I know you checked this but does that atv fit width wise in the back of your Taco? Between the wheel wells? Or will it sit on top of a platform?
I use to have an atv I used to get to my duck blind and use to play on it up in the Sierras. Great fun, I miss it. Never put it in the back of my truck . I had a trailer I towed it on behind my Tundra.

A couple of two by tens (twelves?) spaced properly and the right length, and attached inside the bed to extend the length of the bed and tailgate so you can park on them should work. Nothing fancy, but easy to store and can always be used if you need them for something else.

If you are doubling up payments be sure to write two checks and make sure they are crediting one as a "principle only" payment.

The wheels on this one will have to either ride up on one wheel well or split the difference with a platform between. I’m a quarter mile away from FS roads, so would only need to haul if away from home. A friend gave me a unused ATV ramp, 1400 lb. combined. Debating on free 48 month extended warranty or free or deal on a winch. Funny, dealer is getting this from another dealer who gave me the best OTD price, so that is why the offer of a warranty.
Unlike the dirt bike I had, I can use this when snow depth is light and into early Spring, when I usually get antsy to check out FS roads.

Only one check needed, any excess would be applied automatically to principle, at least at HDFS when I worked there.

Yeah... I've heard that enough to be skeptical and would do two checks anyways.

I worked for over 11 years at HDFS, we'd get someone now and then that did not understand how finances worked. You don't make late payments every month with high interest because of a bad credit score, add in late fees and then wonder why your loan balance has not gone down. They think they are getting ripped off. Payment received goes toward interest earned by the bank first, then any left goes toward the principle.

LOL... I have no idea what HDFS is. I don't speak fluent acronym. My wife worked in banking for thirty-five years and in several capacities including management and she's my advisor. She's seen too much to not be taken seriously. She's saved people from losing their homes. She's seen good banks go bad and good policies for customers abused by bank requirements for employees.

You don't want to write a second check just to be safe... good for you. Do whatever frosts your cookie.

    Evening all:

No expert here but tend to agree with Travlr about writing a second check "for principal on loan only", or something similar, if you decide to write only one check I would keep a very close eye on how the bank is applying that money to the loan.
Everything I ever read says that by applying money to principle only saves you quite a bit of money, banks don't necessarily like that and some even charge a fee to do it.

    Sue!
Sorry to hear about Zoie, hopefully she will be around for a while, and when her time comes, she won't be suffering and goes peacefully to doggie heaven.
I have an old kitty that is well past her prime, going to miss her when she's gone, her kid is only about 1-1/2 yrs. younger and they have been together for years. When both of them are gone no more inside kitties, can't see my pets ending up in a shelter hoping to be adopted after I'm gone, hopefully that don't happen while I still have my 2 old buddies Pudder and JoJo. :(

You may be referring to amortization of loans. I could have paid cash, but spent my money on the Harley over a year ago. It’s just money.

Good morning. Yesterday saw a lot of progress on the home. FIOS is fixed temporarily, trench is dug for new main water feed to solenoid control box for the irrigation system, and the doctors 3-month checkup resulted with free samples for diabetes medicine, a $335 savings. This morning my run of stuff to be fixed continues with a leaking overflow pipe for the hot water heater. I would like to have this fixing of things stop. Have a happy Wednesday.

Another beautiful partly cloudy morning! Got to go out and get some groceries including some Covid test kits to see if we are still contagious on day 5. Mask up and go look like a robber…LOL!
Feeling better every day. Got to get over this before Monday to head for the Wind River Range. Will miss out already on the first few planned days. Oh well such is life. Just great to be healthy enough to get out and fish!

Have a special day everyone and don’t skip getting some sun!
