Damn wish I could join you. I’m envious . Been an outdoorsman my whole life, hunting, fishing, camping, backpacking etc. Still get off to the mountains and little mountain lakes several times a year and trout fish. Have hiked and fished the entire length of the Sierras and spent much time in the Montana Absaroka Bear Tooth wilderness. Never been to the Wind River Range but I know it’s a pristine gorgeous wilderness area. Post some pics when you return. Be sure to arm yourself and bring bear spray, I know there are grizzlies there. (I started carrying a 44 mag instead of my 357mag when I started backpacking the Bear Tooth). Have fun, anxious to hear about your trip.

I've bought trailers and I've built trailers and it seems like I've never come up with anything that fits my wife and I well enough to keep it. I've looked at the Casita as they go down the road but never inside. What are the up and down sides?

    Casita:
Pros are light weight, aerodynamic, very easy to tow, reasonably priced, easy to customize
Cons are not well insulated (although I have spent a week when it got to -7 a few nights), you don’t want it wet when it gets really cold!, riveted construction needs repair often (simple but a two person job), tanks not heated, limited storage, small at 17’ ball to bumper, exposed plumbing

Chuck, you are in my prayers. I hope the operation is a sucess and the recovery time is minimal.

Good morning. Out late last night to dinner and great Irish music, with a lot of classic rock mixed in.

We saw a white hummingbird this morning. I don't believe it was an albino since the eyes were black and the color wasn't the "flushed" white typical of albinos. So unusual though...

My wife had just been talking about her little sister that died at birth, so you know what she thought... She's such a soft heart, so she cried. I love that about her.

    Afternoon all:

Looks like you got a treat to see something that's not all that common, cool!

I don't have a feeder out because of the outside kitties, I do see the occasional hummingbird here. People that I know that have feeders out do have quite a few visiting, I think there are more of those little feathered critters around than most people realize.

We had so few this spring that we feared the odd weather had got them. Maybe six at a time was the most we've had all summer, and that was rare. We were filling feeders only a quarter full and they would last two/three days. But in the last week or so they've been making up for their absence. We have seven larger feeders out and my wife fills them at least twice a day. Easily 30/50 birds around at any time... and more early morning and early evening.

We had a bunch of feral cats around here that people were feeding. Thankfully those people have moved or quit feeding. I was trapping them and taking them to the county shelter but the guy working there begged me to do something else with them. He was tired of having to euthanize everything that came in. I started taking them to a place in the national forest where I knew there were plenty of ground squirrels and water. Then let nature take it's course. The shelter was getting an average of 145 cats every three months and they euthanized them all. The dogs didn't get much better results, but at least a couple would get adopted.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/hummingbirders. My wife's phone finally became too much of a PITA so we shopped a bit and decided on a new one. The last several times we've changed phones it has been a logistical nightmare in some way or another, either hiccups in the middle of the data transfer or long, painful hold times just to talk with an Indian woman with a bad phone connection on the other side of the world to get the number swapped over. So this time we decided to let the "experts" do it and set up an appointment at our nearest Apple Store. It was a pretty chaotic place but they couldn't have been more helpful, and the transfer process was absolutely painless. I consider my self pretty good at the techie stuff but I think I'm just going to go to the Apple Store myself for the next phone!

    Morning all:

Here's what's coming up on the Excalibur crossbow forum that I am/was on.

    General error
    SQL error
    Access denied

Is this something with my computer, or something on their end, of the handful of forums that I am on, it's the only one that I can't access any more.
