    Good morning!
Anniversary dinner was great! Carrabbas and they have a deal that with whatever entree you order, for $10 you can take a duplicate of it home. So for $10 you can get another fully cooked ready to take home delicious meal. So when I head to the farm today I will take a great dinner with me for this evening. :spending:

Cardio visit: Ugh. Terrible. This doctor could not have been less interested in my questions. She didn't know some things that I knew after a few days of research, for example, about supplements (vitamins K1 and K2). She literally said she had never heard of them. Well I hadn't either until a week ago...but that is something she should at least be aware of.
I was asking about them and other alternatives to statins. She said my primary doc prescribed a much statin lower dose that she would have. (pill pusher).
Then she asked me what I want to do...uhhh WTH???
She said I have 3 choices.
    A. Do nothing. B. Stress test C. Catheter procedure. I asked if she had any suggestions. She said I she couldnt recommend one over another. That it's up to me. I'm like...WTH!???!! o_O:confused:
Later, after discussing with my daughter, who is a nurse, and has worked cardio care cath duty. She highly recommended cath. SO that is what I will likely do...but first I will find another cardio doc.

Hope everyone has a great Friday. Headed to the farm for the weekend. Still lots to do. So close to being done though!

My Cardiologist is an ex Air Force doc, he’s pretty straight forward. He tells me what we can fix and what we can’t fix. Tells me how I can help improve the situation, it’s my decision. He says I’m in pretty good shape considering my past history and genetics. Just can’t unsmoke 30 years of Marlboros. Doc told me the best thing to do is walk everyday and drink water, lots of water.

    Morning all:

I'm finding out there is a plus side to now being toothless , after only eating soft foods like cottage cheese, tapioca pudding, apple sauce, scrambled eggs, and yogurt over the last month or so, I've lost 15 lbs. and will probably lose more until I get my falsies!
Looks like if we manage to get a deer, I'll need to get it made into hamburger or caseless sausage, NBD since I like both.
Talked to my hunting buddy yesterday, now his knees are giving out, I pity him with all that's going on with him, bet he would gladly trade me his problems for mine of having no teeth, that would be a major upgrade for him! :(

Getting old is not for sissies... Quite often I'll have something crop up that gives me some kind of unusual pain or pressure or ache and sometimes it goes away quick and sometimes it lingers. I don't know why I'm saying this because you all know what I'm talking about already.

About 5 this morning I woke up and had some pressure in my back. I "know" where kidneys are but I've never known specifically where mine are... and this morning my left kidney was defined by pressure. I was wondering if I was trying to pass a kidney stone or something. So eventually I got up to pee, thinking it might force the issue and I'd know something for sure. Nothing... I went back to bed and slept till nine which is very unusual for me. And now the kidney seems normal. WTH? No family history of stones so I'm a newbie to this one.

    with extra cheese

Uugghh I'd be finding a new cardiologist asap. What do they call someone that passes their test with the lowest score?? A doctor same as the one that gets the highest score.

    :sorry: carl

    Drink water and more water!!!

About 1.5 years ago I had blood labs done at my primary care doctor at the Nashville VA . My PCP notified me that I had microscopic traces of blood in my urine and set an appointment with Urology . After a few months of tests they said I had large stones in both kidney's . They also were concerned that both kidney's had multiple stones nearing 8.5cm and were blocking the ducts that drain to the bladder

This was also the reason I was experiencing pain while urinating and was also producing very dark urine

I had surgery on my left Kidney earlier this month and I had stone removal plus install stents . After my surgery I had to deal with a sleeping bladder and this produced intense pain when urinating

After my procedure my doctor's told me no more sodas and only drink pedialyte and drink at least 32oz of water daily

Damn Chuck that’s the worst kidney stone shit I’ve ever heard. From a past life I have a medical background but I’ve acquired a lot more knowledge since I am a kidney stone producer. I’ve had over 2 dozen kidney stones over the years. Most have passed but some have been treated with lithotripsy and laser lithotripsy. I passed some that just caused a little pain to some that put me on the floor writhing in pain. And the thing is you never know when one may decide to pass.
It usually starts with pain on one side of your lower back and side. The feeling is transmitted to your groin. You have the urge to pee often even though when you do you may only go a few drops. May be blood in the urine. Real small stones may pass almost completely pain free. Larger one that get stuck on the way out can cause pain like nothing you can imagine.
If you have severe kidney stone pain go to the ER immediately. If a kidney stone gets stuck it can cause hydronephrosis which can cause serious kidney damage. I had a nurse who had given birth 3 times tell me her kidney stone was way worst than the pain of birth.
Drinking 2+ quarts of water a day is one of the best ways to prevent kidney stones.
Anyone who has questions about kidney stones just ask, I can probably answer them.
Good luck Chuck. (Chuck ask your physicians about taking magnesium supplements and a prescription supplement called potassium citrate, these two help prevent stone formation and can actually dissolve and shrink stones. Your case is an unusual one so these two treatment options may not be appropriate although I think they would)

I've had two episodes of kidney stones, both times I was driving, ended up in a cornfield and a shallow creek. Not fun. Took all the grit I could muster, just to keep from passing out. Good test of my survival grit. Second one, I could tell it was coming when my jaw tightened up, two seconds later, WHAM, I'm in a creek. When I was able to compose myself, I was able to 4wd out of the creek and continue home. I knew what it was, didn't go to the doctor, since there's nothing they can do at that point. That was 30+yrs. ago, haven't had one since. I do/did drink plenty of water, always have, but nothing's 100%.

Had a stone as well. While I was driving….i was running resolvers to get to a bathroom or somewhere I could lie down and die. glad to hear about potassium citrate and magnesium. We buy bulk powder of those and use them in a daily electrolyte drink we make.

    Good morning!

Geez! You guys make me feel sad for all your health issues! Wishing the best for everyone! This is my only issue…
    upload_2024-9-21_6-18-4.jpg

Going to be a fine day here today! Partly cloudy with a slight chance of up to 1/10” of rain…RIGHT…weathermen haven’t been correct on moisture in months! Still today will only hit 71*. Finally a cool day. Average for this time of year. Today is our average first frost…didn’t happen. Maybe soon though!

Today is help the granddaughter on her Taco, ie, change oil & filter, check all tires, check all fluids and top off, etc. Add winter survival kit. Prep it for a long trip to visit her BF in a couple of weeks.

If the weather holds I plan to install Bearing Buddies on the Casita. Possibly mow. Need to repair some drip lines where something has chewed holes in them (found two and one cracked emitter yesterday). Soon time to turn off the sprinkler system as well. Oh yes and a little ladder work changing batteries in the garden motion night light. Just another piddling around day.

    Make this a great day!
