6 am pickleball with the hardcore group. I'm the oldest. It's a sleeper thing, if you follow my drift. After that, some donations and such.

Yesterday was Pump class and Yoga class. New folks in there. NY resolutions and all. The new lady next to me in pump lasted about a minute. Warm-up with a band, she was struggling. I told her to lower the band, go slow. She did that. The teach (she being a drill sergeant of first degree) yells out, first we will warm up some more, PIKE then NEGATIVE PUSH-UPS. Lady squeaked or something. I told her she could like many of the gals, go to her knees. POOF - she ran out the door. This lady left her class weights and room stuff in place (bad form) and just split. Well that resolution didn't hold. Hope she finds something. I didn't laugh or anything. Apparently my wife thought my story was funny. Yoga after was great, I held the yogi squat for the whole slow body assessment. Many people can't handle this pose because knee issues or hips, calves, I get this. I find it my best relaxation pose. Don't laugh. I feel better and am more flexible than when I was 33.

Last night was Fire our men's church group weekly meeting. Near 100 grown ass men supporting each other from above. Returning from the holidays

    Morning all:

Talking about exercise routines, I am not a fan of break dancing but watched a break dance competition on TV the other night, I was really amazed at the strength and flexibility involved in the moves that the competitors were doing, definitely something that's not on my to do list!

Geez, looks like another bad fire in CA, hopefully no one on here is in its path.

A little something every chance we get.
:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Blood work, then blood work and more for surgery pre-assessment yesterday. I've started the NO list per instructions. Haircut and a visit to my 4LoFab buddy about a possible project when I get done with this stuff! Tomorrow is supposed to be our bad weather, but it looks like they are keeping it mostly North of us, and we get rain. Which, is just fine.
Keep getting better Bill @lynyrd3 !

We saw BTO in a cave just north of Bentonville Arkansas. It was a speak-easy back in the days of prohibition. We had to walk a ways into it, maybe a 1/4 mile? Probably as large as a football field with booths built around the edges and a big dance floor in the center, for the event covered in tables and chairs. Set up like a club, with a bar and people running around serving drinks. This was in the eighties and I tipped our server twenty bucks right away and he took good care of us all night. Probably the most decibels I've ever experienced. Fun times. I don't believe they ever used it for public access again, which is kind of sad.

    Great story, thanks!
I got to see them twice, as mentioned. Good for you to have the memory.

My truck's radar sensor doesn't like cold weather. "Pre Collision Warning turned off; contact dealer." Once it warms up, it's no problem.

It's done it since day one; I meant to take it in during the first three years, but life got in the way.

While running errands yesterday, I warmed up the engine, which turned off the warning (enough heat from the back of the radiator seems to make it happy). I got in, got inspected, and passed. I'm a happy camper.

I went to register online, but it's cold, and Parkinson's tremors are acting up; I hit return one too many times:

Yep, there's a 24-hour penalty box. When I scroll TW tomorrow, remind me to go back and enter it.

Mine only does this when icy. Clean it really well, dry it well if possible. It should not do it the next cold day, good for a year usually. Worth a shot

How much of California is left to burn? Does anyone have an explanation for all the fires? I finally got an insurance I've been trying to get and this morning a guy shows up to take pictures for "the insurance company". And the guy says insurance companies are all scrambling "because of wildfires" and all the other recent disasters (which have been going on since insurance was invented) and now some of them are claiming I'm in a wildfire zone because I have grass that is not mowed but I keep animals on it so it's short.

For anyone that's interested in the ongoing insurance debacle, I ended up getting an Actual Cash Value policy from my original agent that has been claiming he couldn't sell me one... after I told him that I'd contacted the company and they sell them. He still ignored my request for an Agreed Value policy. He also "found cheaper insurance for my cars through another company. Since the "bundle" wouldn't apply to have policies with two companies, I went to another agent that I'd gotten a quote from for my car insurance. Total savings? A little over $600 a year on policies that have been running $2K. So a little better than 25% in savings.
Oddly, the Actual Cash Value policy values my home higher than the Replacement Cost policy I've been paying for.
So now this guy shows up today to take pictures and I'm expecting repercussions.
I'm still contemplating a formal complaint with the state.
    News at eleven...

    Evening all:

Sounds like fun times with your insurance Co. Travlr!

My mother had a term life policy, every so often the Ins. Co. would send a notice that she missed a payment 5 yrs. ago.
Now, my mother always paid bills upon receiving them, the only way she would have missed a payment was if she never received the bill or never received notice of a late payment, OR they did receive the payment and were trying to double dip. I contacted the state Ins. commissioner about this, the ins. Co. reply was that they do send out late payment notices but had no records of doing so, HUMMMM!
Seems strange that I have "NEVER" received any "junk mail" from that Co. ever since then, I don't think they like me! :D

OK, calling for 16 deg. tomorrow morning with 35+mph wind gusts, we decided not to go hunting, looks like we are turning into wusses in our old age!

There’s lots left to burn, at least in Southern California. In northern California our fire season runs from early summer to about November. Then we get rain and snow and the fire season ends. Southern California is completely different. They get far less moisture than we do in the north. It’s mostly dry all year. An arid and simi arid climate. There’s lots of dry vegetative fuel, it’s everywhere. Then add the Santa Ana winds. The Santa Ana winds blow from the east desert west to the ocean. (The cause of the winds is a somewhat complex meteorological event). These winds blow from 40 mph to 60 mph and higher with gusts to 100 mph. Once a fire starts it spreads at light speed due to the winds. It’s virtually impossible to put out. To make it worse embers can be blown hundreds of yards to several miles and start new fires miles away. The fires burn until the winds diminish or the fire runs out of fuel and there’s lots of fuel.

One of the reasons I'm hesitating to lodge a formal complaint is because I know insurance companies communicate with each other. I don't worry so much about my house insurance, but car insurance is required to license a car.

I've noticed a lot of cheap kayaks on Facebook marketplace. And by cheap... I mean inexpensive. One is $70 for a two person that I'd like to have if my wife was interested. If the right one comes up when I'm heading into the big city I might bite. I had a couple of new ones once that I paid $1400 for and they were nothing special. I can get better now used.

I don't remember fires like this in the past... and I know there were Santa Ana winds back then. Why are there so many fires? Why are they so big now?

I know some reasons for the ones in the Reno/Carson City area were because the fire authorities were waiting for the fires to increase in size... because they didn't get paid if the fire was put out too quickly. I saw more than one small fire with people standing around doing nothing and a day later hundreds of acres had burned. When one fire burnt up several million dollar homes one year some **it hit the fan, but I moved soon after and don't know how things are going now.

Because they’ve built many many thousands of homes and other buildings over many years where they should never have been built. Basically more fuel for fires,

That's some interesting insights on the fires in CA, was thinking along the same lines that CA has been there for a while and never seemed to experience the type of fires that have been occurring in the last decade or so, sure seems like something needs to be looked into!

Just saw an article, a municipality just South of me is raising their garbage fee from $335 to $615 a year, and the city of Allentown just South of there is raising it from $415 to $605 for 2025, and then to $740 for 2026. Ours went from $100 to $200 a year beginning last year, now I feel much better after reading what some others are paying!
Supposedly the "MOB" controls the landfills, a little kickback here, and a little kickback there, and they can charge whatever they want!
