Ding well with the planning Ken. Actually doing a lot of reading right now. Trying to map out a sightseeing plan and learing how to deal with restaurants and various tourist charges.

I am very fortunate because the wife does all that work. I do some reading and research, but she does the most of it. If you have any questions, PM me and I'll see if we can help you out.

Enjoy the vacation Tom. I have to get our bikes checked out so we can start riding on the weekends again. They hang in the garage all winter.
Also, have you looked into Evernote? We have it downloaded on our home PC, my tablet and the missus I pod touch. It is really great for traveling as you can put all your notes and web sites into Evernote on your PC then when you want them, you can syn them to your tablet or I pad. Works good.

Looks pretty decent so I might give it a go. I am not too fond about storing information somewhere else though. The good news is I have a few months to play with it and get it set up.

I can see a decent application of the product where I take one photo with the phone and attach a lot of information to the photo. Them I shouls be able to remember what the photos on my digital media card are of when I take pics with the camera.

I also lke the idea of taking a picture of the receipt for large purchases so I can keep it if something happens to the original receipt. The VAT is a tax that should be refunded but from what I have read you file for the tax when you leave the country and then it is up to the merchant to credit your account, credit card. Really a risky deal if I am back in the states. The VAT is currently at 20%.

I am hoping to score two lamp pendants when I am in Venice. I have 2K budgeted for glassware in Venice.

Never had any reall big purchases to worry about the VAT, but if you are after glass pendants, try looking in some of the shops in the local shopping areas of Venice. The prices in Murano are really high (tourist area) and you'll see an abundance of glass stores in Venice. Restaurants are all around in Venice and the better priced ones are away from St. Marks Square. Here is a picture of one that we have eaten at and it has good food and a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Just look for the pizza dough faces and that is it. The last picture is the Owner/greeter and the wife.

THX Ken. My plan was to look in Venice first before going to Murano.
