This bitch session belongs to the 70+ forum if there was one...
I am 70+ years of walking this planet. Soon to turn 72 in May. I'm up for renewing my California Drivers License on 5/13.
New to Calfornia drivers age 70+, you have to go in to the DMV office to renew your license for minimally a vision test and new photo.
The only way to start the renewal process is to do it online. I started the process 3 days ago, took me 3 separate tries to navigate the California DMV website
over 3 days. Probably 2-3 hours total time. Finally figured out I could "get in line" at the closest DMV office (Poway, California)
Went online at 9:00am this morning, I was able to "get in line" for the "no appointment line" at 11:20 am this morning only to show up to physically get in line with 30 other people.
All in all it took me almost 1.5 hours to get in and out of the DMV with my license renewal, took a vision test and new photo.
I have average computer skills and an iPhone which is needed for the online renewal process. I can't imagine what other "oldsters" are going to do when it comes time to renew their drivers licenses!

Are you saying you just have to go to the DMV and get in line and no computer time needed?

    Morning all:

Don't feel lonely Bob, I just applied online for an ez pass, after backtracking a few times I finally got everything right and the account is set up, then they sent me an email to verify my email to activate the account by clicking on a link, only problem, no link to click on. Called their number and was told that others had called about having the same problem and that they would send me a new email with the link, which I'm waiting for.
I remember the term "hurry up and wait" from the military, sure seems like everything is migrating to that policy, especially the wait part!
    NOTHINGS EASY! :annoyed:

The oil truck made it in the driveway and delivered oil, the driver said that he couldn't make some deliveries due to steep ice covered driveways. Mine is nowhere steep, just a very slight uphill grade, but with the ice on it I needed to use 4WD, now that I put ashes down I can get in with 2WD.

Any requirement to do something online is bull**it... unless they can direct you to a service that will do it for you. And I know of no services that will do online required work unless you contact them online. There are people that don't own computers and don't have phones capable of going online.
Any bank that requires me to do my business online will not be getting my business.

Good morning, all. As another 72 year old I understand the frustration of online "services". Thankfully my wife is a wizz at all things computer. She won't let met touch her laptop. Fine with me. I'll stick with my tablet.

After 45 years of marriage we understand each other's strengths & weaknesses and senses of humor too. She has been my caregiver after recent surgery & doesn't take any "guff".

She had me in stitches the other day after commenting on my choice of apparel. I thought I was comfortable until she said, "You look like you've given up on life". You know what?

I changed my outfit & my attitude. What a friend!

Chuck, been there and done that to a point with both a Jeep and a Tacoma, luckily I didn't hit anything, ice is BAD!

It's getting to the point that almost "EVERYTHING" is going to have to be done electronically, either online, using an app, a card with a chip, or with auto this or auto that, we are heading to the point where everyone will have to have a computer or smart phone, it's a new era!
