60+ year old thread.

Change is inevitable, but that doesn't mean all change is good. Requiring the use of an electronic device with a screen is requiring people to purchase something they don't need... except to fulfill the requirements of doing things electronically. There's no reason a person shouldn't be able to fill out a form and if it needs to be put into a device the people needing it in their device can scan it.

 

Soon an AI android will serve you (most everything) as in 'I Robot'. Your car will be self-driving, too. Well, in a perfect world, anyway! LOL

Yep,my Dad is 90 and his renewal is in June 2025.This would be new to him.He has no internet or cable and uses an antenna for TV.He likes it that way and gets around just fine.He does carry a flip phone.He walked in the the DMV 4 or 5 years ago to renew his license.

 

Although all your mentions above are legit, lots of gobernment agencies abide to its own set of provisions of service

Not my experience at all. I am far from being very competent with computers and other electronics. My wife helps me when I start whining. I made a dmv appointment on line and filled out some information. Took me 10 minutes, maybe 15. Showed up at appoint time got my pic and did the vision test and was out of there in 40 minutes. And at our age we no longer have to do a written test, just vision and get a pic. Up to about a year ago we had to take a written test which sucked. And the license is good for 5 years. Don’t gotta deal with the department of motha vehicles for 5 years. Every states dmv totally sucks but this last time for me they sucked less than years past.

 

California DMV rates 71st. Hopefully Northern California has less difficulty obtaining an appointment because Southern Californians haven't moved there...yet.

 

Currently as of a few days ago it is necessary to begin the process of renewing a California Drivers License online.

 

I feel really sorry for my oldster buddies who have no computer or computer skills and still only use a flip phone at best.

 

Morning kids , I’m not tech savvy, my wife is the tech. It is very unfortunate that the elderly, ya us , have to deal with the change. It’s like, let’s F$&@ with old people.

Morning 60+
Very sore today . My son and I poured a small concrete pad in the basement . 8 50 pound bags and 2 80 pound bags all mixed in a plastic mortar tub by my 37 year old son . All I did was help with the bags and pouring it into the form then all the troweling .

 

And I wonder why you would. I kind of envy them.
