Just had a nice earthquake here (San Diego County)... about 20 minutes ago. Latest adjustment to the scale is at 5.2, about 30 miles from here. It was in the Ramona/Julian area. Interestingly all three of our cell phones went off with the warning to duck and cover almost at the same time... Good system. The shaking and noise changed intensity during the few seconds of shaking. No damage here, just intense fun!

Glad you’re ok David. Us Californians don’t pay much attention to quakes unless it’s a major one that does major damage. There are around 500 earth quakes a year here that are detectable and felt. Just part of life in California. When I worked in a high rise in San Francisco that was a little unnerving. The whole 26 story building would sway and shake and rock n roll during a quake.

Glad that the earthquake didn't cause any damage and you're safe

Earthquakes are one thing I don't miss since moving to Tennessee

I still remember the large earthquakes in Ridgecrest Ca back in 2019 . I was living up in the High Desert , the July 5th and 6th earthquakes were very strong

The July5th earthquake was a 7.1 and the July 6th earthquake was a 6.4 . I was 60 plus miles away from Ridgecrest and both earthquakes lasted 30-45 seconds

Thank you (and the others) for your concern and comments!
Lived in California since 1957, and the number of quakes I felt or remember feeling are too few. The last 'big' quake felt in San Diego was the Easter 2010 shake, centered just south of Calexico/Mexicali. It knocked bottles off of shelves in bars in downtown San Diego.
My son was in one such bar and was interviewed on local TV.

My wife and I were at the San Diego Wild Animal Park (in San Pasqual Valley, near Escondido), which they renamed 'Safari Park' a few years ago. We were in line for the tram ride when it hit... but never felt it. On the tram ride, the person who lectures during the ride talked about how the animals were reacting to the quake, just minutes before. We were bummed we missed feeling it.

The smaller but closer one, yesterday (10:08 am Pacific) was the strongest I remember feeling. It was noisy, and changed intensity during the 15 or so seconds, which was also new to me. Like being next to a train speeding by. The center of the quake was just south of Julian, our 5,000 ft high tourist town, former gold mine, now famous for apple pies. A few bottles broke, some glass windows too, per local news. Some landslide of rocks on Hwy. 76, by the Palomar Mountain Observatory road jcn.

After I posted about it here, yesterday, I felt or heard an aftershock (about 11:20 am) much shorter in duration that rattled our windows. It was a 4-point-something.

Well, that's about all we got in Southern Cal for natural events... no tornados, no blizzards, almost no thunder storms (which we do enjoy, but they are so few).

Well my Oncologist/Hemotologist had me wear a heart monitor for the last two weeks of March since I mentioned I noticed a couple of times, over the prior 3 months or so, a rapid heart beat that would quickly go away. A potential side effect from my Post chemo Immuneotherapy meds. He called me today advising he put in a Cardiology consult for me after he received the results from the heart monitor test. Apperently during the two weeks I was wearing the heart monitor during my sleep (naps/nights) My hearet rate went over 200bpm on 10-12 occaisions. So now that is in the back of my head... Well Life is what it is... Lets see what the Cardiologist has to say and what is next.

    TIA for your well wishes.

The recession was not kind to our finances and by the mid-twenty-teens, we didn't have a proverbial pot to piss in. Fortunately I really like what I do, and if I have to work until my early 70s so we can have a comfortable retirement, I cannot think of a better place to do it than Google. To be sure, I am a "glass is half full kinda guy", so no need to feel sorry for me. :)
