A bike I had a love hate relationship with, my second VFR. It was a 4 cylinder dual over head cam V-Tec engine so the second set of valves were activated at high RPM's by oil pressure. Truly intoxicating to feel and hear but a nightmare to adjust those valves. You had to pull out both overhead cams two times to adjust the valves. Once to add the small metal inserts to plug the oil passage in the valve bucket in order to simulate the valves opening, then install the cams and measure the valves. Then do the math and then insert the proper size shim in the bucket after pulling the cams the second time and remove the inserts and put the engine back together again.....

I've had many bikes myself. I was riding bikes on the street before I ever had a car.
    My current two bikes.
    Triumph Bonneville T120.
    20231007_141828.jpg
And the new Yamaha TW200. Just an easy going trail bike for a fat old man, lol.
    Easy to load and haul.

    Well, hell…

I used to drive to mountain tops and hike for hours loaded with heavy camera gear, to get the shot.
Last weekend, in robe and slippers, I shuffled into the back yard, cell phone in hand for the wildflower pic.

I’m not even 60 till July.

    Is this the future?

Close enough, first fill up the cooler and then pull up a chair on the porch, good group on here!
As for your question, the answer is probably YES, I used to put miles and miles on looking for Indian relics, accessing fishing spots, and hunting, key words are "USED TO"!

Oh just wait. Things will hurt you didn’t even know you had. You won’t be able to find your phone. And going to the back yard will be a days journey round trip. And your 70’s, I’m not going there.:)

Man oh man... Do I relate. I had to drill 16 holes through the frame of the camping trailer I'm building, which necessitated me crawling underneath. Roll one way and I'm fine... but the other way is torture. Right side of chest is all tore up by being so unused to all the unusual use during the trailer build. Wait a while and I can move like I need to, but slowly. Might have helped when the Advil and Tylenol kicked in. Kids want to camp on the 16th, so the trailer needs to be ready. Schedules don't always work for an old body...

I'm 74 and only here because I keep our orthopedic surgeons in the life style they are accustomed to. Knee, back, shoulder and hand surgery's. Hip replacement and two replacement discs in my neck......

A life time of being very active, playing and coaching multiple sports and then windsurfing, scuba diving, sailing, racing bicycles, kayaking coupled with bad genetics makes me glad I have good medical insurance.

I have slowed down. The team sports, basketball and softball are gone. No more bicycle racing, just riding, no more wind surfing or scuba diving just kayaking. And the saddest loss, 50+ years of guitar playing done due to Arthritis. I tried everything including the last resort, Steroid injections hoping to still play my much loved Martin D-18 at our local Bluegrass jams.....No luck. The lasting pain made it not worth it.

However; I feel pretty damn lucky still able to be reasonably active and of course enjoying my wife of 54 yrs and my kids and grandkids daily.

70+ ain't so bad if your lucky enough, I know not everybody is so lucky.

    Conrad
