    Too hot...not. Scrubbed the deck, washed down the siding on the house(damn green s*%t) and then ran to HD and got a piece of plywood to put under the seat cushions on the deck furniture, Cut it to size put the cushions out and :angrygirl::annoyed::goingcrazy: it's raining...AGAIN :facepalm:. But in the long run I can relax tomorrow :D:thumbsup:

    I've had more problems with GE stuff lately than with anything else. We bought a new GE fridge one year and had four compressors put in over the first year and a half. We've never had a problem with a fridge before or since. And their customer service was antagonistic... and not just one person. Needless to say... I don't buy GE anymore.
    Please post your experience with the mini split. I've been thinking of them lately myself.

    Nice hobby to have. Working on my bike, at a young age, prepped me for a lifetime of fixing stuff.

    I use Easy Off BBQ cleaner. Works well on built up greasy smoke residue. I follow up with a Windex wipe down.

    As always the fish looks so good. Think I am doing a garlic shrimp with a light tomato sauce over some type of pasta tonight.

    Good morning. Biting the bullet and going to replace the HVAC system. I am not happy with our current service provider in that the installed Carrier system only lasted 13 years. I have the system serviced twice a year. The first of 4 companies is coming out this afternoon to give me a quote on a new system. I need to do a quick spreadsheet of questions this morning.

    Going back to ACE hardware this morning in an attempt to get the $100 off sake price on the new smoker. The ACE website is kind if murkey if I will be sucessful. I also want to pick up the griddle option. It is currently $50 off and I have $30 in ACE rewards bucks.
    @johneman Happy Belated Birthday, Ken.

    I’ll admit it, I was a little more tolerant of weather extremes when I was younger. However I’m still a bad ass at 67 :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

    @95SLE
    I had a quote 2 years ago for a new furnace and ac to be installed. Over $12,000 !! I'm sure it's much higher now. That's why I purchased the ge window shaker. I have a Goodman furnace that just works! I've had other houses with them and never had any major problem with them other than the occasional igniter burning out, but that can happen with any furnace. I just keep a spare on hand. So if I can get decent ac for about 3 grand I'm good with that. If the furnace ever craps out I can buy a new Goodman 80% efficient for about a grand and put it in myself, it's not that hard to do, I've done it before. Goodman has both good and bad reviews but for what you pay for them they have lasted a long time for me. The one in this house is coming up on 20 years old and I'd just replace it with another when the time comes.
    So the new Mr. Cool 18,000 btu mini split is on order, it will cool the front of the house. It's pre charge with refrigerant and no need to purchase special equipment to charge the system. It's completely diy. I'm a very handy jack of all trades kind of guy. I'll do my own electrical etc. Now the only downside to these diy kits is that most hvac companies won't service them, your on your own for that. But I have heard of these things lasting 5 to 10 years with regular cleaning maintenance. And if need be you can purchase either of the seperate components seperately if need be. Yeah I'm giving the hvac companies the finger! I had a local company quote me 11 grand to install just a mini split! Or 5 rand for a basic central air unit. I said have a nice day to both of them. These hvac companies just rape us!
    The bottom line for me is that by keeping the 2 systems separate either one is easy to repair if need be and more economical.

    First thing we did was rebuild the furnace and replace the central air. 1600 on the furnace rebuild. 4 k on the central air. Look up TopLine hvac we miida is the brand they use. 2 ton unit. That’s a measure not actual weight. I know, weird

    I lived in California for 22 years and the Sacramento area (Loomis) for 12 of those. I've been in Pennsylvania for about 24 years now, about 45 minutes from Lancaster. I'm with you on the dry heat...much easier to tolerate than the heat and humidity. I was in Truckee for 10 years and that was the best ever.
