Good news on the mom front is always a blessing.

Seems like dogs and cats are just like having children. Best of luck at the vets.

    Ken:
I am going to start the grille mod in a few mins. Yesterday was better than expected. When I added the first set of lights about 2 years ago I ran a multi conductor cable to the area the switches are located. I also built and installed a fuse center where I planned on future growth.

There are some aspects of being older that I like.

My Dad was in the Army on D DAY never did talk about it. After the war he went over to the AF.. We were in England in the late 50's and went to Cambridge cemetery for Vet's day. Only time I ever saw my dad cry, I asked mom y he was crying and she said it was for his pal's that did not come home. He never forgot them the rest of his life. Now I know that felling for my pal's from R.V.N... Jim <:oldglory:She always makes me smile>

morning all! some interesting things being posted. I have col. john's civil war medal. same situation as rob,no one to pass it onto.. it should be in a civil war museum, but heard the same thing, lots of items not on display, and not stored properly.one of the relation in AZ. has his shot bag, spurs, and sword. could give it to them, but how long will it stay in the family? this stuff is getting pretty pricey, and the money might outweigh what it represents. often thought about sealing it up and burying it under his tombstone.then its where it belongs-with him! sound crazy? different people say, what do you care, you'll be gone-thats not the point.

I've had people say..."how could you sell your Dads WWII things?"
I then explain the scenario of not having kids or if I gave it to my wifes nephew, he would probably sell the stuff and use the money to buy video games!
I can imagine that with the staggering number of the WWII vets passing everyday that the museums are getting calls constantly with inquiries about donating their parents military things. I think it would bother me more to know it was just being stacked up on top and underneath hundreds of other uniforms etc. than to see a collector buy it that would at least appreciate it.
    I don't know.....

The grille mod is done. I even had to go to Lowes to get some SS mounting bolts, nuts and washers.

All taped up and ready to cut.

Ive sold most of the things but am keeping my dad's old humpback 12 ga and my moms 410. Put the money in gold in 07 it's been a good ride. Not having kids and only one of my sis's kids ever grew up (26y. in the navy a E8 and still in) If I have anything it will go to him. When and if the other half gets out of the work a day world we are going to try to spend it before we kick. It's the only right think to do.I hate to say it but I think my Gen. for the most part were piss poor parent's,almost all the kid's (40 & under) are not worth spit.Glad now we did not make any it would have been a heartripper to see them want to sit home and play the G. D. video games all day.. Rant is over... Jim

I know I was just messin with you. LOL

I am really pleased at the way the color matched grille cleaned up the front of the truck. When I first purchased the Tacoma I wanted a chrome grille really badly.

Chrome is more acceptable to us older guys because the late 50's and the 60's told us chrome was good. If you take your time and listen to creditable younger ones you can glean what is better looking and what is just a fad.

I had a comment on the devil horns this afternoon. They had been on the truck for quite some time but just blended in. Now they stand out but the color matches the wheels. I am not that much of a fan for the all blacked out look. I feel that it is just a fad.
