The wife is driving north with her sister to go to a Cyndi Lauper concert tonight. They will meet another sister and all of their daughters, four of them, to go to the concert and they will be staying together in an AirBNB till Sunday. One daughter is coming from Reno, one from Winnemucca, and one from Idaho. Seven wild and crazy women in one house.
I pity the fool that has to deal with them...LOL.

Blood draw this am 7:40. Uggh. One shot of unadulterated espresso down the hatch.

Both cats to the vet for their annual exam 11:30A. Not sure if related to the blood draw.

My 50 ft 20A, 10G extension cord arrived around 8PM last night, one dedicated circuit for shop center power drop. Need to rig it. Hmmmm..........still working on the details. Not related to the above, except escape place for me and pooch.

Supposed to be a big unusual Pineapple Express on the way started tonight. Bring it. Bone ass dry here.

I concur on the ‘too much technology’ involved in appliances.
I have an old pedestal fan stopped working over the weekend, it cost me $3 for a thermo fuse which I had to wait ’til Monday for the store to open to get, and it’s now back on service. If it was the electronic control junk, that would’ve been ending up in the trash right now.

    Morning all:

I think Deka and East Penn Mfg. are one and the same, sometimes I buy batteries at the Deka battery outlet in Lyons Station Pa., which is located inside the plant where they make the batteries.

The too much tech in appliances argument is a good one. It reminds me of a story I read when I was researching diesel vans to convert for camping.

There's 2 camps - The people who want a MB Sprinter b/c of the branding and appearance. Then there's the Dodge Ram Promaster or Ford high top van folks.

If you buy a used Sprinter, you want to generally buy 2008 or older b/c in 2009 when administrations changed, the EPA forced all sorts of retrofitting/EPA compliance equipment on the diesels. This caused nightmares for Sprinter owners. I was reading an article on linkedin by a guy who ran a expediting company - his whole fleet was Sprinters, but became Promasters b/c of the issues the 2009+ Sprinters had with EPA and environmental equipment on them.

Who doesn't love paying for diagnostic work at a shop?

I drive I-95 a lot nowadays, the Johnson Controls battery plant in Florence SC, appears to have gone bye bye since I was there in 2012. Monster.com was located next door, and they also went bye bye.

If you're ever in the area, make sure to stop at South of the Border and go up in the sombrero! Cash only!

Yup remember the k.i.s.s, keep it simple stupid. Gas stove without all kinds of bells and whistles. Basic fridge without ice and water in the door, speed queen washer and dryer with basic mechanical dials. Sometimes simple without all kinds off technology is what last the test of time.

We kinda sorta wanted diesel but the 3.5L Ecoboost won out. The 2025 version is great. Our van is in the long conversion phase now. MB ok but just not what they used to be and even more money. The Ram is a Dog. Unreliable dog. Who knows with Ford, but so far, so good. We are getting so excited, like a couple kids wanting to go camping!

And cheaper... Let's not forget that tech costs more money. We moved here 16 years ago and fell on a deal for an old school Maytag washer/dryer set for $500. Never a problem (knock on wood). But people I know are on their third set of Samsung front loaders and brag about how much they've spent on them.

We love our american made speed queen washer and dryer. Only thing I'd buy from Samsung are tvs and phones, which in my opinion are disposable anyway.

My brother has a ~2015 or so. Still OK. Shop owner I know has a 2008. Glow plugs need replacing. They will not come out (not sure details here). He was told solution is new heads. Not cheap.

The early Ford ecoboosts of various displacements had issues. Especially the small ones. Those issues remedied. By 2023-25 the 3.5L Ecoboost seems to have very few issues.

Don't get me started on LG Washers and dryers. JUNK and the firmware/software was WORSE.
