Yeah I don’t cut the ends flush until I shuck the corn after roasting. If there is any stray husk I will cut that off so it doesn’t ignite in the grill.

I soak corn and get my charcoal lit. By the time the charcoal is ready I take the corn out of the water - 20m or so.

I used to grill in foil, but the taste is so far superior in the husk. And many believe grilling in foil is hazardous to your health - I would tend to understand that thinking.

Debate amongst yourself on that. My buddy on IG kept yelling at me for doing it.

    Morning all:

I used to go to a small church picnic where they covered the corn over the grill plates with wet burlap, SOOO GOOD!

I am in the husk guy myself. I will try cutting the ends off the next time I grill corn rather than prior to grilling.

I mean I could see why you'd do it before grilling, and I have seen that. I am thinking the husks are more likely to flake off or fall off instead of do their job if you cut the ends off prior to grilling but maybe not.

The burlap idea does intrigue me a bit. I just think the husks AND the silk help create that moist environment inside the husk to help cook, protect the kernels from scorching and create the right texture for eating.

My typical cook time is around 30 minutes. Rotating a quarter turn every 7-8 minutes.
