Adjusting the valves was a weekly occurrence for me on the L72. I got really good at identifying the valve by listening with the valve cover on. Do not ever turn over the engine with the valve cover off. Do not ask me how I know. :anonymous:

    Just a reminder for Tom!
Aren't they pretty!!!! Hope you don't get flashbacks!:D
I always adjust them running, and always had a mess. The clips do help, but still get some oil on the motor.

    Morning, Sue!!

After some TLC of hand-rubbing boiled linseed oil into the stock and a good all-around cleaning, here's that 1944 Mi1 Garand again. I hope I look that good at 70 years old. Oh, wait, there's no chance of that!!!

Good morning Susan. I did :washing: yesterday. :D

But you has oil clips, I did not have clips. I swear it looked like the oil shot 6 feet away from the engine bay.

Yea, but I didn't have them for yrs. Learned the same lesson not to rev it while running, after the oil shot out over the fender.

    Nice job Mark!

    Sweet Carl.

I have a trick for you if you still adjust running.

I took an old set of valve covers and cut the tops off them leaving about 2" on the sides. Put them on with a couple of bolts. Threw a couple of shop rags over the opening and with the clips it was manageable. I know about 60 psi launching streams.... Always got the green horn at least once. AHHHHHHHHH MEMORIES

Oh and I made a set of permanent deflectors for my rockers when I was running solids.

Getting two new tires on the Bonneville today so we took it to our shop last night. I had to get up and work out at 4am along with the wife this morning. I am wide awake now and ready to go. Need to take the wife to work next then back home to pick up my son and some tools to spread mulch. Then back over to school to work on what looks like 10 CU YDS of mulch to be spread on the playground area.

Need to rake leaves at home, clean out the fireplace, get a haircut, work on pond, clean house and go shopping for food. I will never get all of this done in 1 day. ;)

    Charles:
You might want to check and see if the same deals are available on line at Tractor Supply. The last 3 years I have gotten up early and shopped on line for the same deal and snagged them from the comfort of my home. Also look for the deals on line on Thursday. Sometimes the deals are available on Thursday and sold out on Friday morning. ;)

This company carries Carhartt at a decent price as well.

    Morning all:
    Winters here!
12 deg.; 4 deg. with wind chill, and I let the fire go out last night.
That became the first project this morning.
Picked up an ice shelter out at Cabelas last night. Every time I get near that place it costs me money! :D

    Evening all:
Don't know what's going on. I am having trouble posting on here. Also just can't click on the the smilies to get them to show????
The Capt. and I seem to have the same problem; Cabelas, Bass Pro, and gander Mt. The equipment required for tuna is a heck of a lot more expensive than the freshwater gear that most of us use.
I have WAY too much fishing gear. But on the other hand a package with 5 new lures just came today!
I'm doing the same here, as for online shopping. So far I've been able to save quite a bit of money on the puter!
Only reason I went out to Cabelas last night was that they had the employees discount for cardholders. The young guys I fish with were going out, and one of them told me they had ice shelters in the bargain cave. So, got the BC price + the ED by putting it on his card. Paid him when we got outside and saved $176, plus he got some extra points on the card.
