Getting ready to order a coffee bean grinder. Any of you have a recommendation? I have a Krupps grinder now and I cannot control the grind quality.

    Evening all:
Same here on the height of the Tacoma. Never had a problem with the height, and prefer it. Wish the "99" Chevy were a little higher, but since I only use it to tow the boat, and an occasional lube drive, it wouldn't pay to lift it.
Have to agree with "It's not a low-rider, but a vehicle for off road use"!
Remember when they "squatted" the jeeps? They looked like crap!
I did own two jeeps, but learned my lesson! It just took longer for some! :D

Can't help on the bean grinder! Pestle & mortar should work fine! ;)

THX Rob. I was looking at the Kitchen Aid or the Breville grinder. I have a Kitchen Aid mixer that I need to replace some stripped gear rings on after close to 25 years of service.

That's why I wanted the Kitchen Aid when I saw Scott's post in the Coffee thread. Kristi's parents gave us our Kitchen Aid Mixer for our first or second Christmas together; we've been married 29 yrs last Oct 2nd. It sat in storage our 7 years overseas, but is still running strong. I'll have to watch those gear rings over the next 3 years. ;)

Good luck with the book, Doc! I have rapidly learned the impact of a dedicated and passionate faculty...as well as the opposite. Your love for teaching is evident - and I am sure your students see it...and benefit from it...too.

And welcome to the new Tex! [IMG]

It's about 10 deg F here this morning - with a light snow falling. We're supposed to get 2 to 4 inches through the day. Time to head out on the patio to the hot tub for a morning warm up!!

Try to stay warm Mark. It is 33 degrees here in Bowie. Hope your schedule over the break is lighter but I know you still have a lot going on. My wife is a teacher at a small school so I know the Principal always has a lot to do even when school is closed for the holidays.

Ah, now that's just downright cruel! :( I have a few friends with hot tubs, and that 20-foot walk from the back porch door to the tub in -15C temps can be a killer!

I'm only 5'10" and I've had no problem entering or exiting the truck. However, given that I have the leather seat package, I would have liked the option of having the automatic seat controls to raise or lower the driver's seat. It's not a big issue for me, but I've had that option on several Jeeps over the years and it's a nice feature that allows you to sit in the most comfortable driving position. I did consider using a phonebook, but I thought that may look a little goofy! :D

Thanks for all the feedback on the Tacoma "entry/position" question. I'm guessing the "human factor" statement is most relevant. I reckon their test driver is vetically challenged (don't want to use the politically incorrect term here).

Politically incorrect sometimes fits right in. Most of us feel that it is time to just reload both parties.

Fn kill me>>>> FRAMINGHAM (CBS) – Onyango Obama was on the job as usual tonight, managing a Framingham liquor store.
Also as usual, he doesn’t want to talk about his complicated residency status and the problems that accompany it.
[IMG]Onyango Obama (Photo courtesy: Framingham Police)

When WBZ-TV asked him for a brief interview, he responded, “I don’t have time to talk to anybody” and would say no more.
As of Friday, the biological half-uncle of President Barack Obama will be able to legally obtain a Massachusetts driver’s license, even though he’s living in the country illegally.
He lost his license in March, after pleading out to drunk driving charges. He’s been driving on a special hardship license since then anyway.
“The outrageous nature of this situation keeps getting worse and worse and worse,” says State Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr, who just this afternoon introduced an amendment requiring the RMV to verify immigration status before issuing a license. The issue is set to be discussed at the State House at the end of May.
Tarr says his office is receiving plenty of angry calls from constituents, since Obama is “about to walk into the Registry of Motor Vehicles and be eligible for a permanent license based on the fact that he’s somehow here legally, which isn’t the case.”
The RMV says it only has to ask for a Social Security Number, which Obama has.
In a statement to WBZ this afternoon, MassDOT’s Press Secretary Sara Lavoie explained that “Mr. Obama was granted a hardship [license] by the RMV after meeting the criteria that all operators in MA have to satisfy to get a hardship license after a first offense OUI … There have not been any changes made to these terms and conditions since issuance. Mr. Obama has been licensed since at least the early 1990′s, which is the earliest our records show.”
For Senator Tarr, that’s the wrong answer.
“This is a very direct case,” he explains. “An individual who is here illegally is the subject of a final deportation order, [yet] is eligible according to our state government for a driver’s license. We shouldn’t have to study that for a long time before we take action. If the registrar is suggesting that she doesn’t have the power because she’s only required to ask for certain things, we’re saying, add another thing to the list: ‘Are you in this country legally?’ It’s an easy fix.”

Anyone following the way both houses of Congress and both Dems and Reps threw military retirees under age 62 under the bus with the budget bill? Our COLA will now be automatically reduced by 1%. Oh, and the bill does nothing to retirement of federal civilians or members of Congress. Hmmm. Surprising?

It pisses me off, but I'll be fine. But, what about the NCOs who don't make what I did/do? Who don't have working spouses? One study shows an E6 stands to lose $83,000 and an O5 $124,000.

And, it gets even better. I just read that the Pentagon has now confirmed that the COLA reduction will also apply to service-related medical disability retirees, too.

Remember this when you get to vote for any members of Congress. I will.

Wonder if not too far down the road, a future generation is going to be reading something like: The rise and fall of the American empire!
Just seems like the working class is supposed to support; dare I say it, BUMS!!!
Seems like someone decides to take something from someone that worked for it and deserves it, and give more to the poor, underprivileged, that didn't want to learn in school, want to be wasted all the time, want to have multiple kids that they can't even begin to afford, and can't begin to hold a job!
I find it difficult to understand how they can add $75 a month onto a welfare check for entertainment.
