The worst thing about the car is the transmission which is the limiter to the horsepower you want to develop the engine to. I did install a shift kit and hoping to get 175K on the transmission. At this point the car is 10 years old with 105K on the clock.

    Hehehe JK

The fwd trans is always a iffy commodity. When my van ecu went nuts I blew a half shaft just putting it in gear. I thought I put the trans in three pieces.
    True story.
When the chrysler Concorde came out, the engine guys were so proud that with the right ecu flash they could make like like 400 hp.
The trans guys threw up red flags and said no no no can't get close to that. Tone it down...
This was right from the reps mouth...

I'm doing great, thanks for asking. With January out of the way and days getting longer, there is hope for spring! I am planning on retiring this coming May. I will be 65 in March, so that I will be able to the Medicare thing. Wife will follow next January '15. Worry that there'll be enough $ to enjoy life. Recently read the book "One Man's Wilderness: An Alaskan Odyssey", you ever heard of it?

One Man's Wilderness: An Alaskan Odyssey is a book, first published in 1973, by Sam Keith, based on the journals and photography of Richard Proenneke who, in 1968, retreated to the wilderness of Twin ... Wikipedia

    I love this mans story.
There is a show about him. Alone in the wilderness on a public station and I watch it every time.
Building the cabin was a work of art.

Welcome! Everybody in this group is 20 years younger, in our minds. Never let them make you grow up. My wife keeps trying, "oh grow up" is the comment she makes to prove it!

Great book wasn't it! I love books like this, based on history or personal experiences. I just read another one titled "Endurance, Shackleton's Incredible Voyage". It's about the first few explorers at the South Pole. I think you would enjoy it, if you have not read it already.

I'm sure you have heard of the movie, "We Were Soldiers Once, and Young", based on battle of "LaDrang Valley, between US 7th Cavalry and North Vietnamese. The, book, which is a true re-telling of that story was probably one of the best I have ever read and is so much more intense and true to life than the movie. What those young soldiers went through in three days, I cannot comprehend. I will have to check "A Higher Call". Thank You.

Over time, I have found that reading these books, make me wonder about us as human beings and why we must result to war and strife, constantly. Second, I am amazed at how individuals can summon the strength and will to rise to the occasion save themselves and others in the horrors of war.
    I understand your feelings.

    Mike:
Even my friends that build super heavy duty auto transmissions for the 3800 have problems when the HP exceeds 400. The H Body is a nice comfortable ride and will give you 30 MPG on a road trip. There are a few handling options, aftermarket and stock, mostly set up for the Caddy Deville.

I drove my friends regal it was pretty nice to drive, it almost idled down the highway and you could coast without hitting the gas for a long ways it was geared so high, still would get up and go good too.

    I can definitely understand that.
I never served but I have the utmost respect for all that have.
I cannot imagine what it is like.
When I had to sign up for the draft I went to recruiters at the school for information.
    I wanted to fly helicopters.
The people I talked to were honest and said no way could I fly because I wore glasses. I told them they just lost me and walked out.
I guess back then you were not placed where you wanted to go as your primary goal.
    Never got called in......

Hi Paul, if you like books on Vietnam, I read one called Mattahorn by Col. Carl Marlantis. Good book and I hated to put it down.

I bet it is the same way today. I know, back in 1968, if I went from a draftee to a full enlistment the Army would guarantee me the school of my choice.

    WAIT A MINUTE; That's from a mans perspective! :D
I've seen it more than once, where it would be appropriate for the woman to say that! Has to come under the heading-Love is blind!!!!

Never read the book, but watched the documentary on TV. There are alternatives to the rat race. Most people don't want to give up the creature comforts that everyone has gotten so accustomed to.
Good luck on the pension Paul, I highly doubt you will ever be sorry you took it!
